“Carlos Carmona-Gonzalez, 23, was nabbed with the colorful rifle after he offered to sell weapons to a police informant,” reports. “Gonzalez, also known as ‘Downer,’ faces up to seven years on charges that he was a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.” While it looks like entrapment to me, saying Downer’s no saint is like saying it’s not a good idea to mess with an IDF soldier. Still, result, with bonus points for girly gun humiliation.

  1. Wait a sec — he’s banned from having guns, so he’s busted for getting rid of his? I could understand being busted for trying to buy one.

    • This is what I call a very stupid criminal, or one that liked jail. First he is caught selling a PINK 22 then he says it is entrapment? How did he not understand that he was breaking the law just having it in his possession? He got the whole spiel when he was released about possession of a firearm being a felony for him.
Then he tries to sell it? To a cop? If he has a lick of sense he wouldn’t have gone anywhere near the transaction but then I did say he was stupid.

      • RF is the one who said it sounded like entrapment, though I have no idea where he got that notion. Being induced to commit a crime is entrapment (perhaps), offering to do it, as this guy did, another thing altogether.

        • Maybe Carmona was entrapped because he had this pink rifle he couldn’t unload on anyone and it was beginning to affect his manly gangsta reputation.

      • A good lawyer could argue that he owned it prior to becoming a prohibited person and was merely trying to get rid of it rather than violate the law by maintaining ownership only to fall victim to a felony charge for trying to comply with the law. The only other alternative would have been for him to throw the gun outside and risk other worse criminals finding it.

        • …except it was reported stolen. Presumably there’s a date attached to that report which doesn’t work in the “defendant’s” favor.

    • Nope, it’s a bolt action. This looks like a Cricket rifle, meant for little girls. As in, it is actually marketed towards girls between the ages of “Daddy’s little girl”, and “still too young to date but I know she’ll do it anyway”.

  2. What I want to know is how a guy racks up nine felony convictions by age 23, yet is still walking the streets.

It’s a short midnight stroll from the criminal justice system’s revolving door to your home’s front door. Stay armed, my friends.

    • You already said it, by AGE 23. How many felonies do you suppose come with a five year sentence? He did the majority of the felonies before he turned 18. Felonies for under 18 years old are treated like a slap on the wrist by most liberal judges. That is the reason he had that many felonies before he was 23.

    • “What I want to know is how a guy racks up nine felony convictions by age 23, yet is still walking the streets.”

      Good criminal work ethic?

  3. Wait, its a girly gun cause its pink? I have no masculinity issues and will happily accept any and all pink firearms you find too girly. Hello kitty print aks welcome, I dont care if its a cat or not, though it does have whiskers.

    • “Hello kitty print aks welcome.”

      Ahhh! (shrieks in horror)

      Have you no shame, Sir?

Although a quick rattle can job of black spray paint might do the trick. Just say its one of those early Armalite deals.

      • Oh yeah, a full auto Hello Kitty AR. How about a strawberry shortcake mini-gun? I would never feel my masculinity was being threatened if I had a strawberry shortcake mini-gun, ahhh 3000 rounds per minute satisfaction.

        • I will however draw the line at my little ponies, not cause they’re girly, just … ponies… really? Although I figure it will give unicorn farts a whole new meaning.

        • Hey, little pink ponies with rainbow farts and stars on a white background on an AK would really be butch.

      • lol no shame whatsoever. Look at it this way, just imagine the story on the news of the marine that held the home invaders at bay till 5-0 showed up with his hello kitty ak. I want to see them try and make the rifle seem scary. Since these gun bans are founded mostly on appearance, just how scary is a pink ak. Not to mention the shit the dirt bags will get in gen-pop about being held by hello kitty. I’m sure hello kitty will take on a whole new meaning.

  4. I’m sure had UBCs been in place, this gangbanger would have agreed to transfer the gun at an FFL, making his capture all the more swift.

      • I’m sure he would have gone to the FFL to perform the UBC immediately after he stole the rifle from someone’s garage. Then after failing the background check, would have given it back.

  5. The media here felt it was just awesome that this criminal was busted, especially with a pink .22. The media seemed to discount the danger of the rifle because it was pink and cute and just so darn funny. It was the lead story on Sunday. Make no mistake, the gun was stolen from a garage and can kill another person no problem if desired. This guy was dirt.

Paint it black and legally put it in the hands of a teenager and it’s darn-near an assault weapon and the worst thing ever.

  6. Quick, ban brightly colored guns to reduce crime!
Oh wait, california already tried to do that. Saying they were marketed to children.

    • They want to ban Airsoft guns too, but since they can’t do that, they’ve passed a bill that will require such items to be all clear or all brightly colored so as to prevent police from shooting the bearer if the orange tip is broken off (as happened recently in Santa Rosa).

  7. People forget the REAL victims here. Sad to say, it’s probably toast for that rifle (unless WA 50 resells out the back door of their evidence locker).

    Another rifle in the crusher… ;. (
    Ohh the humanity.

    P.S. – WA, you’re no safer.

    • I would expect them to get it back. I had a friend who had his 1911 returned to him by King County Sheriff (the county Seattle is in) when they came across it.

  8. Can this site take the lead in NOT perpetuating the myth of the combat arms chicks (Russian WWII or Israeli anytime). Fail and abandoned.

DiFI and her ilk may be in love with the fiction and are actively promoted it to “reformt” the US Military but girls soldierettes in combat arms units are moronic nonsense. And a distraction, at best, anywhere else outside of a MASH or similar.

  9. Gee, I think my 2 daughters are older than the IDF soldier. I can say my oldest would make a great sniper with the Remington .243 788..

  10. I think it would be really cool to make up belt of 22 rim fires, and attach it to the receiver to make it look like a full automatic machine gun!

  11. Reminder: Big Brother can probably find a felony on every one of us if they dig hard enough and … P O O F !!! No more firearms for us.

  12. This article makes a fine local example for me to show that the WA Initiative 594 (for Universal Background Checks) does nothing to keep guns out of the hands of felons.

  13. I bet you’d be pretty embarrassed to be shot by that hot pink girly gun! ….. and then to later on cry about it! (Assuming you’re still alive).
