While you can’t fix stupid, you can shoot it with a Desert Eagle .50-cal and send it to prison for a while . . .
Perez told investigators that Ruiz wanted to make a video of her shooting a bullet into a hardcover encyclopedia he was holding against his chest, according to court records. Perez said she fired a .50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol from about a foot away. Two cameras recorded the incident, though investigators have withheld the footage. Ruiz died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
The couple had a YouTube channel where they posted videos of pranks and stunts. Hours before the shooting, Perez tweeted: “Me and Pedro are probably going to shoot one of the most dangerous videos ever. HIS idea not MINE.”

Over at the redstate . com article linked in Charles Cooke’s article, I finally found a gun control law I like. “Virginia declared that all free men were required to possess a musket, four pounds of lead and one pound of powder. If a free man was not financially able to afford a weapon, the county had to provide one.” It just needs updating.
Thank you for the list, I am going to use it and the promo guide. Thank you. ,,. Support your local Law Enforcement, they need it, Officer Over must of had a flat tire or ran out of gas?
Homicide, or assisted suicide?
Well, it sure cannot be murder. At worst I would think manslaughter.
Accident by negligence\stupidity. Not uncommon as a cause of death.
Interesting question:
What if the boyfriend told the girlfriend that he extensively researched the concept and that it was absolutely safe, even showing her videos of other people shooting handguns into thick books that ALWAYS stopped the bullet. Can she really be guilty of a crime if she expressed reservations and her boyfriend assured her that it was perfectly safe?
People perform stunts all the time. If someone has seriously researched the stunt, applied safeguards, and truly believed that the stunt was safe with those safeguards, how can they be guilty of a crime if something goes wrong? We hear about people getting seriously injured or killed performing stunts for television or movies — and rarely hear about any prosecutions unless there was gross negligence.
Rather, this sounds like it could be a tragic accident.
It’s been a long time since I’ve read any Dormant Commerce Clause cases, but there is a chance that this law is illegal under the Commerce Clause.
I know a lot of folks support this move as a convenient way to try and protect semi-autos, but I think this ruling by the ATF is arbitrary and illogical and outside of their purview. So, I think this is opens to door to all kinds of over-reach by the ATF in the future that we’re not going to like at all.
What’s the problem? He’s just another felon whom most of you adamantly support restoring gun rights to, you know, since he’s “paid his debt to society.”
The old saying goes “there’s no education in the second kick of a mule.” Well, there isn’t much in the first kick, either, since you were too stupid not to stand behind a mule. This guy was already a felon, having been convicted of felony possession of a firearm. Clearly he cannot make smart decision in relation to firearms. Yet, 2A absolutists want to arm him up. Not only do I not agree with that, but I’m not even immediately convinced that felons should retain/regain parental custodial rights after their release.
Irresponsible gun owner of the day? Yeah, that and irresponsible parent of the day, car owner of the day, too. That’s all mouthful, so why don’t we just call him “felon”, to cover all the angles, and take away his guns, cars, and kids?

Strange, I know a lot of docs as a crna, they either tend to be very much into guns or neutral it seems. Lost track of how many are into NFA stuff as well and want deregulation. I am in the South though.
I’m with everyone else on this one that said why the hell didn’t he test it first I mean how much is an encyclopedia you damn near can find them in the garbage since the internet. I used to shoot Orlando Florida Yellow Pages that were four times as thick as an encyclopedia and I could stop 9mm 40 caliber and 45 ACP. But I sure as hell didn’t have anyone hold it up over their chest and then shoot it. These two mental midgets got exactly what they deserved. Hopefully the children will be raised by more intellectual types.
I have the same rifle in 308, it’s an absolute tack driver and 100 % flawless and NOT picky about ammo. I have 3 WC ARs, 6.8, 556 and 308, I consider them to be the best money can buy and have ran other premium rifles in the same price point.
My 320 trigger pull was over 9lbs prior to “upgrade”. On return, trigger pull is 7lbs, but now has some creep. I thought I’d appreciate the lower pull weight, but actually preferred shooting with the 9lb trigger that was very crisp with no creep.
God speed to the Ukrainian’s against the “rebels” in eastern Ukraine and the filthy russian military who are fighting with them although russia denies this and lies about it. It was a russian anti air craft missile that blew up the passenger plane from the Netherlands a few years ago. There is video of the battery fleeing back across into russia. Those scumbag russian’s were part of murdering 300 people on that commercial plane and they haven’t been held accountable for it.
russia is scum. We should support Ukraine completely. This is a good move, I hope more arms are approved.
Either my Colt SP1 or one of my SPAS-12’s. Nothing too rare or obscure.
Here’s a Mom’s view. My five year old might have been left in the car, (depends on close parking, weather, if asleep, ect.) but secured in a car seat. Neither of my two kids could undo a car seat at that age. Second, my glove box has a lock on it, and I use it.
I keep saying this, but I also taught my kids not to play with matches.
I think this is a targeted market weapon. Some armed security guard companies and perhaps some LE units require a DA hammer fired weapon with a safety. Here in Florida the BoA guards carry a 6 shooter when the average crook is most likely to have a stolen 15 semi auto. Be patient and it will soon be developed into a range of actions like the very successful LC9 series of guns. I have several Rugers and their mags are interchangeable depending on size ie: SR9 -SR9c-9E, where as all my Sigs require different mags.
Ok so um, why carry a spiffy bow tie in your pocket?
