Ultradyne, an American designer and manufacturer of advanced shooting accessories, has officially released the innovative X1 tunable muzzle brake specifically calibrated for .223 /5.56. The X1 enables the user to optimize barrel movement regardless of shooting technique, individual stature, or ammunition.
The X1’s patent-pending Dual-Axis Door System is adjustable to accurately meter out the right amount of gas for ultimate muzzle control. This enables the shooter to remain on target through the shot, witness impact, and more quickly deliver follow-up shots. The X1 is the only adjustable muzzle brake that can be retuned finely and simply with sliding port doors.
The X1’s proprietary asymmetric gas ports direct the blast path of expanding gasses more aggressively on the non-shooter side and less aggressively on the shooter side of the firearm. This design helps keep the shooter’s support hand clear of expanding gasses when using a forward grip technique while optimizing recoil. Taking into account additional considerations, the X1’s is made specifically for right or left-handed shooters.
The X1 tunable compensator is the best way to create perfect muzzle control for each possible combination of factors.
The X1 is compatible with Ultradyne’s Dynamount Barrel-Mounted Front Sight. Simply replace the collar with the Dynamount Front Sight to add the best front sight on the planet to your set up. This sight option takes advantage of the superior dual aperture system, eliminates sight deflection associated with hand guard mounting along with offering an increased sight radius.

I stick to my SuperComp XL Ti…and while it’s not “tunable”, it really doesn’t need to be…

Because a rifle chambered in .223 Remington or 5.56 mm NATO requires an expensive muzzle brake to avoid dislocating your shoulder from its massive recoil, right?
LOL, yeah, right!
A .2235/5.56 rifle has virtually no recoil, even less than a 9 mm carbine. All it has is noise and muzzle blast, both of which will be INCREASED by this brake. Any tacti-cool fool at a public gun range who sticks mounts such a noisy, blasty muzzle brake on their .223 rifle (especially on an M-forgery with a 16″ barrel or shorter) is just being a rude, inconsiderate, noisy nuisance to their fellow shooters to the left and right of them!
For a .223 / 5.56 rifle, use either a flash suppressor or a linear compensator. (A linear comp helps prevent muzzle rise while directing the sound and blast FORWARD, away from the shooter and away from other shooters on the firing line). In states that ban flash suppressors, a linear comp is a great alternative, better than a muzzle brake for calibers like the .223 that don’t need a brake.
