Church Shooting Alaba_DeMa

“An Alabama prosecutor says a suspect has been charged with three counts of attempted murder after allegedly shooting a woman, an infant and a pastor inside a church in Alabama. Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson says James Minter was arrested after the shooting occurred around 11 a.m. Sunday at the Oasis Tabernacle Church in East Selma, Alabama. Neither Minter’s age nor hometown was immediately available.” The Fox News report makes very clear that the shooting “stems from a domestic issue between Minter and the woman and that race was not a factor.” Which is certainly a relief. Because the victims’ wounds would have likely hurt much more if they’d been shot because of their color.

  1. “Because the victims’ wounds would have likely hurt much more if they’d been shot because of their color.”

Dan, I expect better of you.

Killings motivated by hatred are a special case for a number of reasons – demonstrably crazy people, should’ve seen it coming and so on.

Same reason we’d rather Iran not become a nuclear power…

Also, the response of Andis, passed background checks et cetera play differently when it’s someone angry or stupid from how they do with a Manson wannabe.

  2. The Pastor is white. The wounded and the shooter are not. So we won’t be tearing down any rebel flags or monuments over this.

  3. Anxiously awaiting a BHO speech in which he states how disappointed he is in Congress for not introducing legislation incapable of preventing violence.

    • *people are murdered*

Politician: something useless must be done! We cannot sit idly by when we can make populist speeches in favor of ineffective policies that will not help anything and will likely make things worse!

      *legislation fails in congress*

Pres: I am disappointed in congress for failing to do something totally useless that can not possibly help in anyway. We need common sense-less measures to make only some people feel safe while actually making things worse because they cannot be bothered to understand the issue beyond catch phrases.

MDA: as a group with five members who dishonestly counts every click our sites have ever received as a member we would like to use the victims for our own publicity. It’s the fault of the evil NRA that we cannot waste the legislature’s time and pass meaningless laws that won’t help. We have a right to feel safe, even at the cost of increased violence in society. The only moral way to react to such a tragedy is to fearmonger while waving the bloody shirt and prevent as many people as possibly from thinking rationally about things.

      Did I miss anything?

  4. I am waiting for #blacklivesmatter to protest because the police didn’t do more to protect black lives from senseless gun violence

  5. I’m sure the good folks of Selma are relieved to know race was not a factor, now there’s no need to call for those peaceful protests that so often culminate in the burning and looting of their own neighborhoods.
