Foghorn is TTAG’s resident stat cruncher and data debunker. Far be it for me to cry foul here—lest some Southwick Associates shooter miss my blaze orange hat and start blasting away. So I’ve put all the disclaimers and stuff at the bottom of the page (after the jump) for those who believe that there are lies, damned lies and marketing surveys. I don’t think there are any surprises here, and not a lot of depth neither. But I reckon we should keep an eye on the Freedom Group’s toptastic firearms-related brands over the next few years. Can the man who helped Home Depot into the doldrums and Chrysler into taxpayer-supported bankruptcy defend and extend Remington’s remarkable run? Watch this space. And the winners are . . .

Caveats/methodology:

“This list has been compiled from the 41,923 internet-based surveys completed by hunters and target shooters who volunteered to participate last year in HunterSurvey.com and ShooterSurvey.com polls . . .

The marketing data presented here is a summary of a 238-page report that details consumer behavior including what products and brands are purchased, where they are bought, how much customers spend, and demographics of hunters and shooters broken out by each product category. Current information about what gear and brands hunters and shooters prefer, how many days they spend afield and what type of hunting and shooting they enjoy most is vital to businesses trying to build their customer base.”

  1. I am surprised that ruger is tops in handguns. I shouldn’t be because the sr series is pretty sweet. I just kinda expected Block to be up there.

    • Ruger has more of a range than Block. Lots of hunting and plinking hand guns. Think how many Ruger Single Sixes and Bearcats they have sold. Ruger .22 semi auto target pistols are everywhere.
