Shannon Watts: NRA to Blame for Michigan Prisoner Gun Grab and Murders

Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 8.10.29 AM

She’s just trolling us now, right? Surely an experienced PR flack like Shannon Watts would have done her homework enough to know that the shooting in Berrien County, Michigan yesterday was the result of a prisoner, Larry Gordon, pulling a gun from a deputy and opening fire. Wouldn’t she?

From NBC News:

Gordon, 44, of Coloma in Berrien County, was being escorted to a hearing at the Berrien County Courthouse in St. Joseph when he grabbed a gun from an officer, shot the two bailiffs and briefly tried to take hostages, the county sheriff’s office said Monday night.

Other bailiffs and police officers converged on the scene, where Gordon was quickly shot and killed, according to the sheriff’s office.

Even Michael Bloomberg’s hoplophobic sock puppet can’t be so knee-jerk in her responses to events, so wedded to the NRA-is-the-source-of-all-evil world view as to blame the nation’s oldest gun rights org for a law enforcement officer having his gun grabbed by a criminal. Can she?

Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 8.30.07 AM

Why yes. Yes she can. When the goal is demonizing guns, gun owners, and anyone who promotes their responsible use, no argument is too batsh!t crazy. Or blindingly stupid. Or jaw-droppingly ignorant. If your goal is total civilian disarmament, why not be-clown yourself a little in service of the greater good?

If is saves just one life…! Do it for the children! Disarm hate! Enough is enough! Or any other mindless anti-gun mantra you can think of.

  1. avatar Rob Aught says:

Folks, there has always been a movement that wants police disarmed as well. They want to put us on the British model of policing.

Don’t worry though, the IRS will get to keep its SWAT team.

    1. avatar Bungameng says:

Makes sense, considering that tax evasion is what led to Al Capone’s imprisonment.

      1. avatar Rusty Chains says:

Nope, It does not. Any time the the IRS needs a real SWAT team (or the EPA, NOAA, ATF, etc.) they can always call the FBI and I for one trust them more than the IRS. The proliferation of SWAT teams is just not a good idea in my book, from acting like jack booted thugs to screw ups like tossing a flash bang into a baby crib.

        1. avatar Kroglikepie says:

No. The FBI does not need a SWAT team either. They should either coordinate with local police forces or rely on the US Marshalls. You know, the only legitimate federal policing force.

        2. avatar FedUp says:

I always find it amusing when somebody uses the words “FBI” and “trust” in the same sentence.

    2. avatar Jerrold Goldblatt says:

The movement that wants police disarmed is called Black Lives Matter. Gee I wonder why?

If Americans were like the Brits of 50 years ago the Police would not have to be armed. The unarmed Bobbie is a thing of the past. Not every policeman in the UK is armed but a large number are now. In Ulster all police carry and have carried since the late 60s. Even though the “Troubles” have been over for nearly two decades it is still dangerous to be a policeman in Northern Ireland. The Protestant and Catholic fighters have transformed themselves into conventional criminal organizations who are only waiting for the next outbreak of sectarian violence.

      1. avatar DaveW says:

Thank you. I have been saying this over and over again for a number of years. I got it from English law enforcement.

Decades ago, there was an “understanding” between the criminals and the police. If one didn’t use firearms, the other wouldn’t. Changes to that came out of the bombings and other criminal acts committed by the IRA (Irish Republican Army for those who don’t recall or are too young to know about them). It escalated with drug cartel operating in the UK. It escalated further with ethnic problems from middle eastern immigrants. More and more police officers are either armed or have ready access to arms. This does not mean a street officer can simply go in and get a weapon; it must be authorized by competent authority.

The UK has problems with armed criminals. Most often they rob mom and pop stores and the like armed with handguns in a nation where such arms are banned. (Surprise anti-gun people… criminals still get guns in a nation which has banned them.) According to British law enforcement, those handguns come in two types. Actual firearms or replicas of actual firearms which are so realistic as to be mistaken for the real thing. Such guns are readily available in Europe even in countries like France.

Australia continues to have problems with armed criminals, especially where drugs are involved and where criminals are threatening shop owners, offering them insurance against criminals. Australia also has problems with radical Muslim immigrants.

Other countries which the progressives like Obama and Clinton have pointed to as ideals have problems as we saw with the terrorist attacks in France and elsewhere.

It is hard to imagine just how stupid the anti-gun proponents can be to believe the drivel that flows from their lips will work. Criminals will ALWAYS have arms even if the populace is disarmed, and they will use them. This BLM idea of disarming and disbanding the police and coming up with community programs to replace them is an open invitation to chaos. If they think things are bad now, wait until there is no blue line to stop criminals from preying on the people. Is one of their ideas to hire the New Black Panthers to replace law enforcement? Will Al Sharpton be the “police” chief?

        1. avatar tdiinva (Now in Wisconsin) says:

BLM wants the police abolished so they can be replaced by gangs. It isn’t just BLM that wants to do away with the police. The faux Libertarians like Radley Balko want them gone as well. He is represented by a number of not to be named TTAG readers who “know” they would do a better job of keeping the piece and would never make poor decisions or outright mistakes like a guy like Darren Wilson.

    3. avatar Chris Mallory says:

The police should be disarmed. Only citizens should bear arms, not government employees.

      1. avatar Kaz says:

Who executes the search warrants then? What happens when the traffic cop meets a gangbanger willing to kill to avoid a traffic ticket? Come on man, cops have “going into situations with homicidal maniacs” as part of their job description. Your position is the stereotypical nutjob insanity the left paints of us as a whole. Cops need guns, we need guns. Cops and civilians can, should and *do* work together for mutual benefit.

      2. avatar tdiinva (Now in Wisconsin) says:

A TTAG keyboard commando speaks. He would run away at the first sign of trouble like all chest pounders do.

  2. avatar Old Ben turning in grave says:

Is she still out there lurking? I guess so.

    1. avatar Chrispy says:

You know, I was just thinking yesterday that we haven’t heard the sound of her clutching at pearls lately. It was kind-of nice while it lasted.

      1. avatar Avid Reader says:

She’s moved to my neck of the woods. I need to check in with Dirk to see what he did to get her to leave.

        1. avatar NineShooter says:

          What (general) neck-of-the-woods is that?

        2. avatar Avid Reader says:

She’s surfaced in the People’s Republic of Boulder, CO. Fortunately I live near, but not in, the city.
It’s the perfect place for her. It’s our version of Santa Monica.

  3. avatar surlycmd says:

If there wasn’t so many guns in civilian hands the police wouldn’t need guns either. It’s all the NRA’s fault there was a gun on the officer’s hip to grab.

  4. avatar Chadwick says:

As a Gunican-American I am officially calling Shannon Watts a racist bigot. My people have been kept down by her kind for far too long. Let us not forget that this nation has had these anti-Gunican-American racists from the start. For obama’s sake when will this racism end? #shannonwattsisaracist

    1. avatar Coolbreeze says:

Finally, a hyphenated group I can identify with.

  5. avatar Mikial says:

Just more proof that Liberals are histrionic morons.

    1. avatar JR_in_NC says:

I think of Libs as more deliberate liars.

This is pretty weak sauce from a professional PR person like Shannon. This level of propaganda is so easily debunked by mere simplest examination of the facts that even her own followers can see through it (if they admit it is another story).

It’s head a head shaker. THIS is the story she latches onto when we haven’t heard from her in months?

Just mind boggling. So mind boggling that it just can’t be simple stupidity. It HAS to be calculated to achieve SOMETHING.

      1. avatar neiowa says:

New(ish) month. If she doesn’t meet quote for twits/press releases then no paycheck from the rich NY midget.

        1. avatar Rusty Chains says:

So does she actually do anything beyond shill for the Lolipop Guild?

  6. avatar ActionPhysicalMan says:

“When in custody in court try to grab a screws heater and bust out with it.” Wayne LaPierre (with Charlton Heston nodding behind him).

  7. avatar TheOtherDavid says:

She absolutely knows what she is doing. Many press narratives said the prisoner “got a gun” and did not make it clear he disarmed a bailiff.

Low info voters will read what she said -gosharoo, she wouldn’t knowingly lie to us after all-and blame the NRA.

    1. avatar uncommon_sense says:

TheOtherDavid is right on the mark. Watts is reinforcing the “see, guns are bad!” meme for low information citizens. Nothing more, nothing less.

  8. Hoplophobic harridan heaves heaps of histrionic hate at humans helping hinder heater hits by the heedless, holding homicidal hitters in hoosegow. Horsecrap!

    1. avatar Pwinky says:

      Hear hear!

      1. avatar Chrispy says:

    2. avatar SteveInCO says:

She should get the H out of here.

    3. avatar Tom in Oregon says:

Hey. I didn’t get a harrumph outta that guy!

    4. avatar Jake R says:

I have the sudden urge to watch V for Vendetta after reading this…

    5. avatar Coolbreeze says:

      Ha Ha Ha, HardyHarHar.

      1. Thanks lads. If it saves just one thesaurus’ life it was worth it.

  9. avatar Mk10108 says:

If it saves one life…hope my conceal carry does save my life…chances are I may not have to shoot.

  10. avatar CLarson says:

Hmm, this kind of mistake happens when people get disillusioned and start phoning it in. Maybe this flavor of Astroturf activism has played out.

  11. avatar Andrew Lias says:

Suspect literacy is not her strong point. It was not like the the guards were untrained, nor that the NRA encouraged their ownership or that guns were allowed in Willy nilly. If any thing it shows the failure of what amounts to one of the most restrictive gun free zones.

    1. avatar Mark N. says:

I think she is literate enough, the problem is an appalling (amazing, astronomical, incredible, outrageous, chose your favorite adjective) lack of logical facilities. As before said, by another poster, the Derp is unbelievable.

  12. avatar Ladd Boid says:

In a later tweet she made reference to some news outlets saying the perp had grabbed a cop’s gun. She’s still a twirling twit.

  13. avatar Steve in RI says:

    SJWs always lie

    1. avatar JR_in_NC says:

Now watch for her to double down.

  14. avatar James69 says:

I noticed she had on her “tactical” pearls.

  15. avatar Geoff PR says:

I bet that pic of Shannon looking drunk and-or stoned is one of Dirk Diggler’s favorites.

Has anyone heard from Dirk recently? Or did her restraining order against him included use of the Internet? 🙂

    1. avatar Trump or Hillary or Rabbit Ears says:

I never quite got Dirk’s fascination with Shannon. Unless it involved spanking.

      1. avatar Geoff PR says:

I razzed Dr. Diggler by telling him that pic above is the look on her face right after he un-zips…

    2. avatar Chrispy says:

I’ve noticed that TTAG is good for adding that pic to every single article with her name in it. I kinda thought it was just for him!

  16. avatar BT Justice says:

I won’t assume she can cook, but I’m sure she’s useful for at least ONE thing….

    1. avatar JR_in_NC says:

She is useful for one thing: lying for money.

Useful to the person paying, at least.

  17. Sorry, I didn’t get the memo about Dirk Diggler. Can someone fill me in?

  18. avatar Jim says:

Ol’ Shannon then put up a tweet pushing smart gun technology. If only…!!!

  19. avatar M J Johnson says:

This bitch is so damn ignorant, she makes Ignorant look smart.

  20. avatar David P. says:

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha……… Drooling retard. Hahahahahahahaha

  21. avatar gs650g says:

Pretty much epic fail right there.

  22. avatar Michael says:

The antis sure are gold-medal-level mental gymnasts.

  23. avatar Stu TenBrink says:

The NRA’S agenda??? Let’s call it what it really is! A constitutional right established at the founding if our nation! The ONLY agenda here is KEEPING said right! The librals need to focus on the real issue, their own voter base, the inner city, & the violent crime rate it maintains!

  24. avatar LNJK says:

Again, never let the facts get in the way of a good story or your agenda.

Also reminds me of what my high school debate coach told me once: if you are loud enough, repetitive enough, forceful enough, since most people don’t totally listen, they will concede you the point.

  25. avatar FormerWaterWalker says:

DIRK? Where ya’ been? Uh yeah blamin’ the NRA for freakin’ baliffs getting shot-DUH…

  26. avatar Ralph says:

No no no no no, you Bloomberg-underwear-sniffing, Monsanto-money-sucking, two bit snot of a twit. The NRA is to blame for global warming, rising sea levels and bumping-off the polar bears.

C’mon, Shannon Marmion Watts Shannon Renee Troughton Shannon Renee Weaver Shannon Renee Marmion — wake up and smell the propaganda.

  27. avatar Capybara says:

Shannon Watts is an idiot, corrupt and a blatant liar. Moms Demand Action is the name of a porn series. Must be fun to be the mouthpiece for an arrogant NYC billionaire. Boy, talk about scapegoat, the NRA is now the source of ALL evil in the world. God help us when the Hildebeast takes the helm, we are in for some rough seas boys and girls.

My last three trips to England, I see lots of police, walking the streets with H&K MP5s, always in teams of two. Of course, that’s all over London, even in the posh neighborhoods like Kensington and Holland Park. When we went into the Cotswalds, conversely, and in places like Bath, did not see a single police officer for a week.

  28. avatar Scott says:

    Blow me Shannon.

  29. avatar Bob in IN says:

    Shannon is for disarming cops.

  30. avatar Chris Morton says:

Shannon honey, your mother drank a lot of gin when she was pregnant with you, didn’t she?

  31. avatar Bob316 says:

Oh my God, she is a moron. Seriously, I am not calling her a name. She is really a moron. How do you rebut a statement from someone – Shannon – who has lost touch with reality?

  32. avatar Ing says:

That screencap of Watts is a gift that keeps on giving. This is what it looks like when pure crazy struggles to escape its sluggish human host.

  33. avatar W says:

The checks that she gets from Bloomberg clear. That’s all that matters.

  34. avatar TyrannyOfEvilMen says:

You have to understand this woman’s audience which by definition is comprised of ignorant people.

  35. avatar Geoff says:

    “Stupid is as stupid does.”
    Nothing more need be said.

  36. avatar Mmmtacos says:

I don’t think she’s stupid, I think she took a calculated risk, or rather something more akin to a safe bet. She knew it was against the facts, but she also knows at this point that the narrative is stronger than the facts. If she can take this tragedy, spin it and exploit it then it’d be better for her agenda than if she let it be.

  37. avatar Ranger Rick says:

There are no repercussions for Ms. Watts’ wholelly inaccurste statements, until there are she will continue to make them.

  38. avatar Cloud says:

    Rat face.

  39. avatar Jake says:

She’s edited it to blame the NRA’s opposition to “smart guns”(designed by dumb people).

    1. avatar FedUp says:

She should blame the LEO unions’ opposition to any and all gun laws being applied to LE, especially anything requiring “smart gun” tech.

  40. avatar Don says:

She knows that her idiot followers and sycophants won’t read the details of what happened.

  41. avatar Friedrich says:

Interesting dilema for the loony left, they say that only trained people like cops should be armed, yet these are cops are supposedly killing blacks in record numbers.

I always find the offshot comment, “well cops in England aren’t armed” amusing.

  42. avatar Southern Cross says:

Before typing that tweet, was Shannon snorting some of her sugar daddy’s stash?

Mikey B must have the best quality nose candy available with his “connections” at Tamany Hall.

  43. avatar James in Houston says:

What’s weird is that without TTAG I wouldn’t have known she existed. I wonder if she knows that her entire existence is owed to a gun blog. Or possibly she does know and continues with her over the top antics because she is lonely.
