In 2020, San Diego saw a 28 percent increase in gun violence and a 20 percent increase in reports of gunfire, the Times of San Diego reported. A large portion of the violence is attributed to gang members, who are also responsible for 20 percent of all murders over the last three years, according to city police.

Mayor Gloria, Council members Monica Montgomery Steppe and Sean Elo-Rivera, and Police Chief David Nislei said the increase in gun-related crime demanded action from the city.

“The recent increase of shootings in our city is cause for great concern, but it demands that we lean-in as a community rather than shy away,” Mayor Todd Gloria said, according to the Times. “The No Shots Fired program represents an important collaboration between the city, law enforcement and community that seeks to stop gun violence, promote peace and create safer neighborhoods for all of us.”

Over the proposed six-month period, organizations will provide outreach and resources to gang members, in addition to offering them an opportunity to get out of gang culture. The program could be extended after its completion.

Here’s the solution: Arrest all these MS-13 criminals and gangs, and deport their asses back to where they came from because most are probably illegal residents living in our country. You don’t run them through the court system because we taxpayers end up having to pay for their legal expenses. We need President Trump back in office.

    • Combine impulsive behavior, lack of training, and poor firearm handling skills, and you have a lot of negligent discharges and missed shots. And those NDs and misses have to go somewhere and often it is an innocent bystander. And criminals also have little care for collateral damage in their actions.

  13. The only way to deal with remorseless criminals is to shoot them dead on sight. It is interesting that people who are against this, don’t live in the most violent cities and neighborhoods, of the United States. In fact they live miles away off the main roads in areas where no mob but think of going.

    Jeff Cooper founder of Gun Sight said that the best way to solve the violence in the cities is to make sure the residents have guns. Because then they will solve their own problems.

    This Violence use to be limited just to certain neighborhoods. But now the criminals have stolen everything where they live, and now are traveling to other neighborhoods in cities. Sometimes traveling well over a hundred miles to find a victim to steal from.

    There should be a “paper and ink” background check and waiting periods for politicians and their laws. They do more collective harm to America through their laws than all the bad guys with guns combined.

    A legislator with a bill is far more dangerous to the populace as a whole than a citizen….good or bad….with a gun. The bad guy with a gun poses short term danger….the worst damage he poses is loss of one or several lives……terrible, but finite. The politician’s danger impacts the whole populace, growing constantly, lasting forever, and posing loss of Liberty, Freedoms, and Rights……enslavement on the Government Plantation…..and, history shows even loss of life for dissenters post-gun confiscation. Life without Liberty, Freedom, and Rights is worse than no life, akin to living Hell on Earth. A bad guy with a gun can always be decisively stopped by a good guy with a gun. A politician…not so much so…yet.

      • well, Lenin lived 1870-1924. When gun control began in America is subjective. Redcoats attempted it in Revolutionary times. Democrats enacted Jim Crowe laws post-Civil War to deny guns to Black men. Doubt Lenin’s unconfirmed statement had any impact directly on America anti-Second Amendment leanings other than it rings with truth regardless of who may or may not have said it.
