Quote of the Day: You And Whose Army? Edition

“They’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them” movie producer Harvey Weinstein speaking to Howard Stern, quoted in Harvey Weinstein to Take Aim at NRA in New Movie [via swampland.time.com]

  1. avatar jkp says:

Didn’t they already try that in “Runaway Jury”? How’d that work out….?

    1. avatar K-Bizz says:

I’m assuming not well since I haven’t the slightest clue to what you’re referring.

      1. It was a decent movie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runaway_Jury

I never got the idea it was anti-gun, anti-NRA, or anything like that. If it was intended to be, it failed. My impression that it was about jury tampering. Oh, and a John Cusack movie to boot, which I like him in movies.

Something I didn’t know until reading the wiki: “The film had been in pre-production since 1997. Directors slated to helm the picture included Joel Schumacher and Mike Newell, with the lead being offered to Edward Norton and Will Smith. The novel’s focus on big tobacco was retained until the 1999 film The Insider was released, necessitating a plot change from tobacco to gun companies.”

        1. avatar Marcus says:

I liked the movie, as well. I always wondered how Grisham felt about the move from Big Tobacco to Big Guns as the bad guy, but my curiosity wasn’t great enough to look it up at the time. I suppose I could do that now. Or maybe later after my first cup of coffee. Soon, anyway. Real soon.

        2. avatar Accur81 says:

I hated the movie. It smacked of the liberal mentality of the moral high ground. The eeeeeevil gun companies are all out for a buck even though they *know* their products and being used exclusively for wanton death. The NRA is evil, gun owners are backward rednecks, and anyone who doesn’t realize those “truths” is unevolved and uneducated. That was a movie DiFi would love and felt like listening to one of her horrid speeches in movie form. I’ll never watch that garbage again.

        3. avatar DrVino says:

I suppose I’m stating the obvious when I keep saying that they’re going after guns the way they did after tobacco: the evil big corporation angle.

        4. avatar DrVino says:

We must guard and actively work to counteract the spreading misconception increasingly prevalent among the populace wherein they mistake their indoctrination for enlightenment

        5. avatar Veritas says:

Wow, if you didn’t think that the movie was anti gun, I bet you thought Dr Strangelove was pro nuclear arms.

    2. avatar JasonM says:

Don’t forget Shoot ’em Up. The gun company is the bad guy, trying to capture a baby to blackmail a senator to keep him from pushing his gun control bill…or something like that (I mostly blocked out the memory). And the private citizen hero who defeats the gun company’s hired thugs does so…wait for it…with guns!

And he gets a merry-go-round to start spinning by shooting the metal bar with a 9mm from at least 20 yards away (while the baby he’s trying to protect is on the merry-go-round), so it’s accurate.

      1. avatar ThomasR says:

I agree, the movie was based on a lone expert competition shooter fighting off, (with a gun) dozens and dozens of hired gun man;(that can get any gun on the black market) and then; at the end of the movie, the expert shooter, having killed 50? a 100? criminals;(with a gun) he makes a comment to the “evil” gun-maker, “How do you feel about the second amendment now?” with the idea that maybe the evil gun-maker will now see the how bad the 2nd amendment is for a society.

        Truly bizarre!

        1. avatar Chris says:

Interesting, I must have overlooked all that from all the cool, exaggerated shooting scenes. All it made me think was, I now wanted to go to the range and shoot a pistol.

        2. avatar ropingdown says:

Most Harvey Weinstein-produced movies just leave me recalling the famous African hunting apothegm, “and use enough gun!”

      2. avatar Vhyrus says:

Shoot em up was, and always will be, a spoof. The main character is supposed to be an allegory to Bugs Bunny, which is why he is always eating carrots.

        1. avatar Lucas D. says:

Why do shitty movies always get called “spoofs” and “satires” after the bad press starts rolling in? Real satires and spoofs are marketed as such before they come out.

      3. avatar Gyufygy says:

Okay, I think Shoot’em Up was about cramming as many gun fights into a single movie as possible, and then filling in the blanks with as silly and goofy a plot as possible. The only subtext to the movie was “MOAR GUUUUUNZ BANGBANGBANG”. Reading any more into that is a stretch.

    3. avatar smackit says:

Weinstein is a LEFTIST first and then somewhere down the priority stack he identifies himself with the Jewish identity group (not the religion).

In stark contrast here is a CONSERVATIVE AMERICAN JEW first and foremost talking about guns……

How many Jews the Nazis would have murdered if most European Jews had guns is impossible to know. But common sense suggests that the number would have been much lower. The Warsaw Ghetto revolt was begun with 10 old pistols and very little ammunition. Later a few hundred pistols and rifles and a few machine guns were smuggled into the ghetto. Himmler told Hitler he would quell the revolt in three days. It took four weeks. Many hundreds of German troops — perhaps a thousand — were killed or wounded.

If the Nazis knew that Jews refused to go to roundup areas and that many Jews were armed, awaiting Nazis to enter every apartment, it is difficult to imagine that the Nazi genocidal machinery would have been nearly as effective. And, vitally important, even had the number of Jews murdered been near 6 million (which I doubt), not all ways of dying are equal. There is a world of difference between being gassed or shot to death while standing naked beside the mass grave you were forced to dig and getting killed while shooting a Nazi.

      1. avatar Diesel Dan says:

Don’t forget, weinstein was the person behind the movie “KIDS” who also okay’d the hiring of the pedophile director for the movie “Powder” not to mention he seems proud about waging his personal little war against Christianity and Catholicism in particular.

        1. avatar Veritas says:

Weinstein is a species of self hating jew. He is a barking moonbat who produces movies that are junk and will be forgotten in twenty years. As such he is very representative of Hollywood.

  2. avatar Tom in Oregon says:

I hope it’s a colossal waste of money.

    1. avatar Mk10108 says:

Dig deeper…..when it fails….tax write off

  3. avatar Rydak says:

I’m all for it. The best thing a liberal can do is keep talking, Only then does the general populace see what they are actually about. Enough with the catch phrases and slogans. Tell us your story Mr. Psycho

    1. avatar Accur81 says:

Never interrupt your enemy while he’s making a mistake.

  4. avatar Templar says:

How is the Jewish uprising going to be anti-gun anti-NRA?

    1. avatar Rokurota says:

I think he’s talking two different movies. Is it ironic at all that he wants to applaud the armed Jewish resistance and simultaneously slander the right to bear arms?

      1. avatar Jus Bill says:

It’s perfectly normal. If you’re crazy.

        1. avatar lolinski says:

Nah. I am crazy and can’t see the logic there.

      2. avatar ropingdown says:

Harvey’s clearly got FOAG (fear of armed goys) on the brain. I personally volunteer to be his Shabat Goy for a week, so he can have some extra time to study the history and ethnic composition of organized crime in America. Maybe then he could relax a little. Or…maybe not.

        1. avatar lolinski says:

          Goys? What does that mean?

If it is something jewish, know that Bosnians also are for arms due to similar/same circumstances.

        2. avatar Gyufygy says:

“Goy” is Yiddish for non-Jew or Gentile. And, in case you don’t know, Yiddish is a Jewish language that developed in Europe through the centuries. Kind of a combination of German, Hebrew, and I don’t even know what else.

  5. avatar Chris says:

I guess he thinks guns are only for the military, police and the movies. I wonder how many countless dollars he has made off of guns in his movies? No more Weinstein movies for me.

    1. avatar Rokurota says:

Right. Like the Nazi SS in his movie. Wait…

    2. avatar SelousX says:

I’m going to avoid any more Weinstein flicks in the future; what I do for Michael Douglas movies I can do for his. I can tolerate only so much hypocrisy, and I certainly don’t have to fund it.

    3. avatar joe says:

And his private security detail. This pig is tight with the Obamas-a perfect match.I sincerely hope some Muslim terrorists behead him on video.

    4. avatar Jon R. says:

I’m not going to stop watching his movies, but I will pirate them off the internet with a clear conscious now.

  6. avatar T says:

I got a title for his movie, WEINFLOP.

    1. avatar Roscoe says:

That could have more than one meaning, but it’s all good.

Also interesting: Howard Stern is, I believe, a gun owner.

      1. avatar Greg in Allston says:

Stern is also licensed to carry in NYC.

        1. avatar Accur81 says:

Because he is one of the select few elites with the wisdom to handle such a responsibility, while the common man clearly can’t. Makes sense, in NYC, anyways.

        2. avatar Taylor Tx says:

ha Accur81 my exact thoughts when I read that as well. The only people who get a carry permit in NYC are celebs or the chosen “elite”.

      2. avatar Alex Peters says:

I listen to Howard Stern every day and he’s very far from a gun-rights guy. He is an advocate for registration and frequently praises Bloomberg for “stop and frisk”. I still find his show entertaining and think his stance on these issues comes from ignorance. He’s one of those that would give up freedom for security.

        1. avatar NYC2AZ says:

I listened to Stern for years before he went to SIRIUS. I found a similar theme of ignorance. Very much like a hormonal 13 year old boy that will say anything popular to stay popular so he can get laid. That being said, he understands the “give the audience what they want” better than anyone in his field and can be quite entertaining as a result.

        2. Limousine Liberalism at its finest. Listen to the Phil Ochs song “Love me I’m a liberal”

        3. avatar Drew says:

I’m sure except for his freedom to shoot his mouth off. He seemed to struggle mightily for his own 1st amendment right because talking to strippers is so critical to the American way of life while protecting your family and home is just a silly notion conjured up by idiot rednecks.

        4. avatar slicer87 says:

Isn’t his target audience hormonal 13 year olds? His only claim to frame was shock radio, which is now overdone.

        5. avatar Martin B says:

Stern lacks the self control necessary to refrain from uttering profanities in each and every sentence. This makes him unfit to possess or use firearms in any sane regime. Then again, New York… second only to Hollywood for douches per square mile. That’s where your money goes to die, BTW, courtesy of the entitled freaks on Wall Street.

  7. I figure it would pretty much go like this; Streep would play a mother who has her little child (or children) killed by an active shooter and then goes on a crusade to get “common sense” gun confiscation legislation passed, only to be rebuffed by a fictitious NRA (or NRA-like organization) that uses every “dirty trick” in the book, lying, cheating, maybe even having her family assassinated. Perhaps ruining her financially. Basically Erin Brokovitch but with ‘guns’.

All in a feeble attempt to get the audience to equate the NRA with those evil companies, or to make the NRA look even worse.

I don’t think that fiction will change anyone’s mind. Only the hopelessly delusional that already think the NRA is some evil organization would fall for that.

    1. avatar Unarmed & unnamed says:

That sounds suspiciously like ‘The Long Island Incident.’

      1. I had never heard of that made-for-television movie until now, and after looking it up I would agree. It sounds a lot like that. But with Weinstein and Streep it would probably be larger, loose with facts, more graphic and more ’emotional’.

        1. avatar Andrew says:

I sincerely hope its “My Baby is Missing” Meets “Running Man”!

          “A laugh-out-loud riot!”

          “Zany antics abound!”

        2. avatar Martin B says:

          The NRA ate my baby!

        3. avatar publius2 says:

The NRA Ate My Brain! ~ Lindsay Lohan as Shannon Watts

    2. avatar Ryan says:

With over-the-top graphic images of the murder itself..aimed at rocking anyone’s sensibilities to the core of course.

    3. avatar JFP says:

“Basically Erin Brokovitch but with ‘guns’.”

So its going to be two hours of Streep wandering around threatening to show her cleavage?

      1. avatar MiketheHopsFarmer says:

      2. avatar Bob Wall says:

Wonder what faked accent she’ll use…?

    4. avatar Albaniaaaa says:

Don’t forget the hero of the day government will come in and deem the NRA a terrorist organization or something and force legislation in. Then the day will be saved and liberals and their kids will praise relinquishing even more power to the biggest killer of innocents in history, government.

      1. At the end of the credits it will say, “Call your congress person” and have an 800 number you can call to get forwarded, plus a website.

      2. avatar Martin B says:

Erm, hospitals and doctors kill more people each year than guns – who’s going to target them with a movie?

    5. avatar John L. says:

Wait … You mean the NRA *isn’t* an evil organization hellbent on world domination through fear, terror and superior firepower?

Awww, man…..! Next you’ll tell me the Second Amendment Foundation isn’t a front for a cabal of secessionist preppers looking to extract Alaska and Texas from the union.

      1. Don’t you go giving away the SAF secret stuff!

    6. avatar joe says:

At one time I thought Streep was a good actress-now she’d do better making ads for menopause pills.

  8. avatar Jan Pierce says:

Is anyone else confused by this quote? It seems utterly contradictory on its face. Or maybe a better question is whether Weinstein is confused.

“It’s not a Holocaust story as much as it’s Jews with guns. It’s my whole philosophy,” Weinstein said. “It’s the idea that when injustice is so great you can’t just march into the camps.”

    1. avatar Joel says:

Yeah, I didn’t get that at all. What the heck was his point? Anyway, just some fat , self-important blowhard who’s about to waste a boatload of investor’s money on a flop. Too bad a great actress like Meryl Streep will waste her considerable talents on this mess.

      1. avatar Alex Peters says:

My guess is that now that the project has been “outed”, I don’t see Meryl Streep taking the role. Her longevity is partly due to her avoiding controversy. While politically she may agree with Weinstein, she generally keeps it under wraps. A project like this could be a career killer. My guess is that the big names avoid this project like the plague, or it may sit on Weinstein’s desk for several years.

      2. avatar Salty Bear says:

I hope that anyone foolish enough to invest in this movie DOES get their money completely wasted.

    2. avatar Ryan says:

It completely baffles me how any Jew could be anti-gun. And that particular statement, when paired with the response to Howard Stern’s question, proves to me that Harvey Weinstein is so deluded that he doesnt even see the irony of his own words and actions.

    3. He is apparently going to do a movie based on Mila18:

Among the other topics discussed (including, at great length, Stern’s affections for Weinstein’s wife, Marchesa co-founder Georgina Chapman), the 61-year-old father of five expanded on his plans to direct an adaptation of the Warsaw uprising story “Mila 18.”

“It took me 20 years to track this down and get it,” he said of the film rights to Leon Uris’ classic book. “I’ve gotta do this one. This has bugged me my whole life. This has been a project I’ve searched for ever since my aunt gave me the book when I was a boy. It’s an important story to tell.”

His interview on Stern was apparently ‘all over the place’, which isn’t surprising given Stern. But also Harvey might be loosing it a bit (more).

    4. avatar Aharon says:

I think the comment was referencing a different upcoming movie. The Holocaust one is not the anti-gun film.

  9. avatar jwm says:

I’m a member of the NRA, not an official spokesman. In my unofficial capacity I say, bring it, bitch.

    1. avatar DisThunder says:

Right with ya. Nothing I love watching more than fat elitist pricks waste their money.

    2. avatar Thomas Paine says:

Weinstein IS talking some fighting words. its ironic when the anti gun guys threaten to hurt, kill, or maim gun owners. Isn’t it?

      1. avatar Jeff says:

Weinstein talks shit all the time, calling Americans too dumb for this or that, even to the point of stating that Americans are too stupid to appreciate good film-making. Which if taken in that context, would suggest that he’s purposefully produced shitty films in order to achieve the success that he’s found, but that’s beyond the point..

The point is, Weinstein will insult and belittle you from afar, but if you ever found yourself in a position to confront him face to face about his statements, he would have a bodyguard cracking your skull before you could think twice. He’d be in the back of his blacked-out SUV and gone before you knew it.

  10. avatar Roll says:

Who is this idiot? Ah, well FYVM.

    1. avatar Fug says:

He is one of the biggest producers in Hollywood. It has clearly gone to his fat head.

I know I’m not the only one who hasn’t been to the movies in years, because they suck, largely due to the efforts of men like Weinstein. These big shots believe they are gods and king makers rather than ring masters lording over the sideshow freaks of Hollywood.

Let Weinstein and that overrated hag make their movie, nobody will give a damn. Michael Moore already made his attempt and it just showed that liberals are desperate and always barking up the wrong tree.

      1. avatar Shawn says:

Moore was spot on with Roger and Me.

        1. avatar Adub says:

Spot on about what? Roger gave him the interview right away. The movie was a fraud.

  11. avatar Mercutio says:

    Moron lobby

    1. avatar Soccerchainsaw says:

I see what you did there…. cool.

      1. avatar Mercutio says:

        The pun is a vastly under-appreciated art form….. 8p

  12. avatar Lemming says:

They’ve succeeded. They haven’t even made the movie yet, however I already wish “they weren’t alive.” 🙂

  13. avatar Larry says:

Yawn. Empty promises, hollow threats…give us your best shot Mr. Whinerstein. Like Rydak said, the best thing a socialist can do is keep talking. Never stop the enemy when he is making a mistake.

  14. avatar pwrserge says:

Hm… Sounds like a credible threat of harassment and inciting violence… Yup sounds like a terrorist threat to me. I think this scumbag needs an all expense paid trip to GITMO.

    1. avatar Jus Bill says:

But then he’ll “find” a gun and rise up…

  15. “It’s going to be like crash and burn,” he said.

    I assume he means the book ( http://books.google.com/books/about/Crash_and_Burn.html?id=pWl5AAAAQBAJ ) and not the movie ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099313/ ).

    In either case, meh.

    1. avatar imrambi says:

Maybe he is talking about the movie Hackers.

  16. avatar Dave says:

To quote Ace Ventura, “fiction can be fun, but I find the reality section more enlightening.”

  17. avatar Renegade Dave says:

The people who pay to see movies typically do not pay to see overtly leftist movies. Remember how long Elysium was in theaters? 15, maybe 20 minutes?

    1. avatar Steve in MD says:

I actually wasted $10 to go see that.

      1. avatar Dr. Kenneth Noisewater says:

$5 first run matinee.. Gotta love Texas!

    2. avatar SteveInCO says:

And then again, Fahrenheit 911 ran for a while if I am not mistaken.

      1. avatar Soccerchainsaw says:

Yes but that movie was more down our alley than theirs…

Oh wait, I was thinking about the original 451 not 911, nevermind…

      2. avatar Renegade Dave says:

Yes the Michael Moore “documentaries” fare better. That one made hay over an unpopular president. These “free markets are evil, utopias are both possible and desireable” type movies are a different breed entirely.

  18. avatar A-Rod says:

WOW, his hypocrisy is really showing. He made a ton of money with movies that feature violence and guns (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Equilibrium, Django Unchained, and Sin City just to name a few). Now he wants to make a movie to say guns are bad? Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. He should be thanking gun owners of America for paying to see his movies. Instead, he wants to dump on them. Nice.

    1. avatar Alex Peters says:

Exactly. I wonder when he’ll figure out that taking aim at the NRA is, actually, taking aim at millions of law-abiding citizens.

    2. avatar APBTFan says:

What is especially interesting is he’s listed as producer for the recently announced Kill Bill 3.

      1. avatar A-Rod says:

Gun Free Movie. All Sword. Every single violence scene. It is estimated that there will be six 55 gallon barrels of fake blood needed for the film. Sammy Jackson will say ‘muther [email protected]’ at least seven times in the first act.

        1. avatar smackit says:

          Wrong big time….

#1) the massacre at the Two Pines church which caused the brides vendetta against Bill. Eight+ people slaughtered with a variety of juicy firearms.

#2) Bill shoots the bride with a truth serom dart in the final scene

#3) Oren is shown doing some long range snipering and a bullet being tracked into the targets head

#4) Oren killing a couple Japanese gang goons with bullet tracking into ankles and heads

        2. avatar smackit says:

Serious EBR hardware at Two Pines being wielded by the DiVAs (Deadly Viper Assassination Squad)

  19. avatar Pulatso says:

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I know when an important Hollywood person takes a stand against something I support, I’m inconsolable FOR WEEKS. I stay up nights wondering “Why don’t these people like me?” and then I wish I were dead as I cry myself to sleep. And the next day I wake up and the nightmare of being scorned by cultural elites starts all over again.

    1. avatar DisThunder says:

I haven’t been able to stop shaking since I read this story last night. I was all like “Oh my God. A Hollywood executive hates me. I think I’m going to throw up.”

  20. avatar Dirk Diggler says:

Sure bring it b!tch. Oh and wait until the NRA, GOA, and TTAG get video of weinstein’s personal security detail and put it out there. Classic fail

  21. avatar PhoenixNFA says:

    Bring it.

“They’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them”

Not always good to give serious death threats to…idk…gun owners?

  22. avatar Tommy Knocker says:

Man oh man …. OMG…I woke up just now and dropped by TTAG for a quick check. Saw that photo on this post and boy it looked like Mayor Mike Bloomberg. Mayor Mike pointing a 1911 at me ! Holy SH%t….I nearly had a coronary. Please don’t scare me like this again…..LMAO….

  23. avatar Rambeast says:

He wants to ban guns, then thinks he will find one when they start marching people into camps. IDK what he’s smoking, but he needs to share.

  24. avatar CT Resident says:

It must be exhilarating to be that drunk on your own ego!

    1. avatar Soccerchainsaw says:

Yes but the letdown at the end of the day when you’re home alone is devastating…

  25. avatar ST says:

Wait….”catches breath”….so, Mr “Action Movie Producer” Weinstein is anti gun? The man should be THANKING the NRA, considering how much money guns and action movies have put in his wallet.

Someone should count how many people get shot in the movies this guys produced.I’ll bet it tops Chicago’s homicide numbers.

    1. avatar Davis Thompson says:

The number of people shot in “Django Unchained” tops Chicago’s homicide numbers.

  26. avatar Mr. Soul says:

I guess this means he won’t be making anymore Quentin Tarantino movies.

    1. avatar Davis Thompson says:

Are you kidding? Those make a ton of money!

  27. avatar Davis Thompson says:

He should stick to “Spy Kids” flicks.

  28. avatar Aharon says:

Wednesday night, I took a bible class taught by an Orthodox Rabbi. He is an intelligent man yet is in complete denial or ignorance that the political and social behaviors of some secular Jews such as HW aggravate many non-Jewish Americans and contribute to antisemitism.

    1. avatar Martin B says:

No, we love Jews here. But we HATE Weinstein. NO comparison. Every race, creed and color has its heroes and villains. Weinstein has tried to be the former but has turned into the latter. But making most of your money through the use of firearms, then decrying their ownership in your own country, needs a special word with more force than simply: “Hypocrite”. Complete total asshole sounds OK.

  29. avatar Jonathan - Houston says:

I wish the NRA would do more, as in a motto beneath their logo or a permanent talking point, to convey that it is America’s oldest and largest civil rights organization and safety-oriented group.

They need to combat the impression that they’re the firearms industry’s trade association or lobbying wing, or that they approach firearms from a reckless standpoint. Hell, I have an in-law who knows nothing of the NRA’s vast operations and actually believed it is literally just a firearms fan club where enthusiasts just chitchat about guns.

  30. avatar Chas says:

I’m really sick and tired of Hollywood morons lecturing the rest of us on things they know nothing about. My wish for Mr. Weinstein is that he loses his shirt from what I hope will be a monumental flop.

  31. avatar TexanHawk says:

“They’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them” movie producer Harvey Weinstein

    — oops. Instant backfire. I already wish you weren’t alive. <— meant that not as a threat but meant in the same spirit as he.

  32. avatar Joethecuckleburr says:

The only group that would want to disarm ordinary citizens are those that ALREADY have control of the government. No one who truly thought of themselves in the context of the Nazi holocaust would ever consider civilian disarmament. Those most prominent in the citizen disarmament movement seem to always to be Jewish, i.e. Weinstein, Feinstein, Schumer, Lautenberg, and others. It may be wrong to consider them as a racial group (Don’t try to tell me it’s just their faith) in the context of their push for victim disarmament, but being arbitrarily grouped is something that we in the freedom movement have come to expect.
Marlon Brando popped off a few years ago about how “Jews run Hollywood” and then two days later was crawfishing like his life depended on it. Un-rehabilitated Catholic Mel Gibson got drunk and ranted about Hollywood Jews and has pretty much been persona non grata ever since.
Why is the overwhelming majority of the members of the Communist Party USA Jewish; and that’s just the card-carrying members. You can call a person a liberal, a leftist, or a progressive, but if they believe in all Ten Planks of the Communist Manifesto one would naturally think it safe to refer to them as fucking Communists. This brings on the big question: Is it that so many prominent actors must be communists as a prerequisite to becoming famous, or do they become communists after the fact to maintain their position in Lala Land?

NOTE: There are freedom-minded Jews that I admire, like Irwin and Peter Schiff, Aaron Zelman/founder of the JPFO, those that promote the Austrian Economic Theory, and many others. However, it is just as racist to give gun-grabbing communists a free pass because of their race as it is to condemn anyone because of their race.

    1. avatar Robert Farago says:

Also, this site’s Publisher and Managing Editor are Jewish. Never again. Just sayin’.

      1. avatar SteveInCO says:

I have to say I simply can’t comprehend why the overwhelming majority of Jews are so fricking anti gun.

Occasionally I will go to a rally and see a couple of people in yarmulkes holding up a sign that makes it clear that THEY understand what is at stake here; and I am sure to say “Shalom!” and thank them for standing up.

        1. avatar smackit says:

Because for many Jews they consider their Jewishness is their RACE not their RELIGION.

And since MOST ALL people want to believe in SOMETHING, they replaced their faith system of Judiasm with the faith systems of leftism or secularism

Just one more insight learned by this Christian from my Jewish “rabbi” Dennis Prager.

        2. avatar smackit says:

To clarify the post above…. GROUP/IDENTITY would have maybe been a better phrase than RACE..

          Prager on Gun Control

          The take away…..

Want to know a major cause of criminal violence in America? Try leftism’s denial of the importance of moral values among nations and individuals; its systematic destruction of character education; and its elimination of God as the source of moral law. Not guns.

    2. avatar Jonathan - Houston says:

I’ve never really understood the rabid anti-Semitism thing. I suppose it’s fun to crack the occasional ethnic joke in casual surroundings. Hell, the best I know I learned from either my Jewish sister-in-law or a Jewish former girlfriend of mine. So there.

But as for a whole go-to-war or extermination mentality, I just don’t get it. I’m not claiming a halo here, just ignorance of the haters’ mindset. If anything, on historical, theological and philosophical grounds, I have much in common with the Jewish people.

That’s why it’s so frustrating to hear such liberal lunacy come out of the American Jewish community and such a heavily Democrat leaning voting pattern. It seems against their interest and a betrayal of their heritage.

    3. avatar joe says:

Jews aren’t a race-maybe a culture or loosely,a “nationality”like Irish,Italian, etc.Yes,the Communist Party was heavily populated by Jews but the vast majority of Jews had nothing to do with that. They do tend to vote Democrat-70% for Obama, meaning there’s good 30% like myself who know what a scumbag he is-actually what scumbags liberals are.
People like Weinstein and Schumer could have benefited from military service, but they avoided it.Having been to war and been a cop for 25 years I obviously have no problem with guns-I think everyone except convicted felons;really crazy people;and illegal aliens should have free access to whatever guns they want to buy.Personally I’d like to see Weinstein burn alive in a plane crash on his private jet-he is a filthy hypocrite swine.
And lastly-some of the most rabid gun grabbers around today aren’t Jewish-Malloy,O’Malley,McCarthy,Hickenlooper,CUOMO,De Blasio,Hillary,McAuliffe,Whitehouse,Pelosi, etc.,And unlike that moviemaker, these people impose restrictive laws that do actual harm as we speak.

      1. avatar Martin B says:

Most people forget history. It was the Republican Party under Abraham Lincoln which ended slavery – this was resisted tooth and nail by the Democrat Party. The current Democrats want to extend their welfare slavery to include disarming the population as a whole. A few measures at a time show the direction they’re going. Don’t be fooled. The Founding Father would not recognize modern politics. The major problem the Republican Party has is its tendency to select morons as its representatives. Fix this and all will be well.

Didn’t she already make Sophie’s Choice?

  34. avatar geoffb says:

The movie will be called “The Senator’s Wife

Weinstein, who has been one of the strongest supporters of President Barack Obama, in this film will expose the NRA for their behind-the-scenes machinations of what Obama himself called “intimidation” and “lies” that ended up defeating legislation that would have expanded background checks on gun sales. … “They claimed that it would create some sort of big brother gun registry even though the bill did the opposite,” said Obama of the NRA, and he added, “this pattern of spreading untruths about this legislation served a purpose. Because those lies upset an intense minority of gun owners and that in turn intimidated a lot of senators.” …

The Senator’s Wife will be a behind-the-scenes account of how the NRA used its influence with politicians to defeat the bill.

    1. avatar Marcus says:

Screw that. I’ll protest by going to see Police Academy IV, instead.

  35. avatar mirgc says:

His quote “they are going to wish they were never alive” sound like a cheesy cliche from one of his movies.

    1. avatar Bdk NH says:

Ted Cruz +1. Spot on, Sir.

  36. avatar Marcus says:

    Say ‘what’ again.

  37. avatar lolinski says:

The movie is going to flop. As an artist I know that if you make something for a specific reason (saying something is good/bad) it will fail as you can’t put your heart and soul into lies and hatred.

And if you don’t put your heart and soul into something its going to suck.

    1. avatar Sammy says:

I heard a commentator predict the end result of Ms Whinestien’s (don’t care if it is SIC) attempt to bury our NRA will be: Increased NRA membership, Increased gun sales, increased NRA contributions, and the loss of a considerable amount of ca$h by Whinestien et al. When are the antis going to admit the NRA is not like their banking lobby made up of financial outlaws. It is a true grass root entity made up of the majority of the Americans that are still left. Fienstine Whinestine same difference. HYPOCRITES through and through.

      1. avatar lolinski says:

I tried to explain to a friend that if 60% of the population vote for/against something then it isn’t a minority.

  38. avatar SdubM45 says:

Yea bring it. BTW, anyone remember what the gun from Runaway Jury was supposed to be. I wonder what scarry fake gun will Harvey use this time?

  39. avatar WI Patriot says:

This will be no different than Michael Moore propaganda film “Fahrenheit 9/11” which was full of edited in lies and untruths…Stand Fast and We Shall Prevail…

  40. avatar DisThunder says:

I’ve seen this story linked on a few pages this morning and….good hell. If the comments sections are any indication, I’ll be surprised to see this get past production. Even on MTV this guy’s getting shredded.

  41. avatar Rick says:

They’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them” movie producer Harvey Weinstein

You might want to pack a lunch there Weinstein; it’s liable to be an all-day job.

    1. avatar joe says:

It’s apparent Weinstein hasn’t missed many lunches-if he was in a room with the average gun owner he shit in his pants without his bodyguards.

  42. avatar Bob says:

I’m always mystified that liberals have “approved” groups of people to hate. If he had made the exact same comments about the NAACP, how do you think that would have gone down?

  43. avatar Sammy says:

I wonder if Harvey was told or if he knew that Howie has the rarest of unicorns, a NYC CC Permit. For a GUN!!!

    1. avatar Martin B says:

Be honest. Would you trust a man with the demonstrated lack of self control exhibited by Howard Stern, with a lethal weapon? Would you get on an elevator with him? Would you even agree to be interviewed by him? I can see how he might be a target enough to justify NYC giving him a permit. I’m surprised he’s lived this long.

  44. avatar CoolBreeze72 says:

He makes his fortune from gun violence. Isn’t he his own enemy?

    1. avatar H.R. says:

Exactly. There is so much hypocrisy in Hollywood that it sickens me. They make a living of off giving people the very best in belt-fed bloodshed, then they say how much they hate guns.

If you hate guns so much, how about you stop using them in your movies?

    2. avatar ropingdown says:

He’s a business man. He naturally wants a monopoly on violence. He’s extending the “Kill Bill” franchise, though, so maybe he just wants to boost demand for home defense swords.

      1. avatar Martin B says:

Obviously this statement means he has decided to withdraw from the violence of his movie making past, and is instead focusing on documentaries of the peaceful life story of the Dalai Lama, and giving us tales of butterflies and dolphins.

Surely he wouldn’t say one thing and then do the exact opposite? Say it isn’t so!!

  45. avatar Kyle says:

I am sure the NRA are just quaking in their boots over the idea of an anti-NRA movie. Someone mentioned above Obama referring to NRA “intimidation” and “lies.” The only liars I’ve seen are the gun control proponents.

  46. avatar DaveL says:

Political propaganda films are nothing new, but usually they at least pretend to be documentaries. This sounds more like Red Dawn with the NRA in the place of Communists.

    1. avatar ropingdown says:

Hope Harvey’s got Leni Riefenstahl’s ghost on speed dial. Match made in heaven. Intended.

  47. avatar Chris says:

In my little circle of friends, the Wiensteins are only known as the Wankstains – mainly because of the shoddy way they recut the foreign movies they import. But this is a good reason too.

    1. avatar joe says:

The Weinsteins are like turds in the punchbowl where the artistic content of films is concerned-they not only cut foreign films to shreds but also American films like All the Pretty Horses and Killshot. In the case of Asian films I try to get the Fortune Star productions whenever possible or the original Shaw Bros. versions-they havn’t been befouled by these stinkers.

  48. avatar Ralph says:

I’ll bet that the people in the audience will wish they weren’t alive about halfway through the movie.

  49. avatar C says:

The Weinstein company has put out some good films, as has Matt Damon. Too bad they’re all idiots.

  50. avatar Lucas D. says:

Left-wing grandstanding is only successful when it’s dressed up in ridiculously expensive special effects, so unless he’s willing to blow half a billion dollars on computer-generated Native American Smurf people, I doubt Whinestein’s little pet project will work out so well.

  51. avatar GaryinVT says:

The amount of money this movie loses will be matched by how much extra the NRA will take in.

  52. avatar Lance says:

ALl major antigun movies bomb at the box office and the fact the NAR is now 6 million strong I don’t see how angering 6 million paying movie goers will go well.

  53. avatar Gil Elliott says:

Just another jerk running his mouth on a show no one watches trying to press upon the sheeple of how bad guns are.

I have no delusions as to how well the general populace would fare against a determined military but I know I at least have a fighting chance against a thug were he/she were to threaten the life of my family.

Movies are fiction, designed to rile up the ill informed and stupid. How else do you explain the myth of being able to hide behind an automobile for protection when being assailed by full metal jacket rifle ammo?
