Perhaps if we re-legalized drugs and got rid of other victimless crimes, organized crime would have less power. We obviously didn’t learn the lessons from alcohol prohibition very well.
The problem isn’t guns; the problem is stupid laws.

More importantly, that would cut into the “legal” big-pharma narcotics industry. Prescription painkillers are the most abused drugs now, and there are far too many politicians getting far too much money to allow competition for that.
No government agency will EVER operate so efficiently and pursue their goals to the extent that they, as an agency, are no longer required. If each and every government entity created cannot every year at budget time find an excuse not only for funding in the upcoming year, but for increased funding and an enlarged agenda, they are not worth the tax dollars they waste.
The Urge to Control is powerful indeed. Throw in a whole lot of money, and opportunities to “punish” the miscreants… well, it’s no wonder things are so effed-up.
The article talks about the “heat” that the ATF has taken for Waco and the “blunder” of “Fast and Furious”.
The heat for what I consider the premeditated murder of almost a hundred men, women and children and premeditated flooding if Mexico with thousands of guns to create an environment that would allow more gun control laws.
Stomping kittens to death, shooting caged dogs, burning men, women and children alive, shooting an unarmed woman holding a baby, flooding a foreign country with weapons to pass more gun control laws, prosecuting and incarcerating Americans for paper work mistakes; if there ever was a description of a goverment agency that is a complete threat to our freedoms our constitution and individual american lives; the BATFE is it.
As much as I hate to defend the ATF, it was the FeeBI that burned the citizens in Waco. The ATF just did the FUBAR commando raid that started the whole mess.

No, this guy has nothing to do with NFA branch. This guy is in charge of the agents in the Houston area that perform inspections and keep track of FFLs in that area.

When a normal person remarks that a task resembles finding a needle in a haystack, they probably mean to imply they need to find a smarter way of doing it. When a government bureaucrat says something is like finding a needle in a haystack, they mean they want a new department, with a bigger budget, and more haystacks.
Then they need a Smart/Lazy person. He or she’ll get it done, faster, cheaper every time.
There was a story I read about the German General Staff, after WWI, who studied human organization. They found people all fell into 4 categories: Smart/Lazy, Stupid/Lazy, Smart/Industrious and Stupid/Industrious. They found Smart/Lazy made the best staff officers, for reasons stated about, while Stupid/Industrious were “the most troublesome people in all of human organization, and always caused far more harm than good.
