Quote of the Day: In China, Gun Control Is About Government Control

“The Chinese government took away people’s guns to prevent them rising up. Do you think they would be able to demolish peoples’ homes if they hadn’t?”- Renin University sociologist Zhou Xiaozheng in In gun-taboo China, tourism to U.S. firing ranges grows [via usatoday.com]

  1. avatar Omer Baker says:

But our government wants to do it for our safety, because they’re angels.

Oh wait! Wasn’t Satan an angel? I’m so confused.

  2. avatar BTP says:

“Political power comes from the barrel of a gun.” ~Mao

    1. avatar Art out West says:

Isn’t gun control always about “people control”?

  3. avatar Waffensammler98 says:

I’ve lost count at the number of times an immigrant from some former east bloc country has warned me about parallels between current American politics and the tyranny they so eagerly fled. It’s sad that umpteen million dimwitted American college students refuse to get the message.

    1. avatar Omer Baker says:

Not just dim witted collegiates, people will flee government malfeasance and overreach and demand the government of their new residence to pursue the very policies that led to their previous homes’ degradations. People from Massachusetts and New York, to immigrants from south of the border, the flee to less restrictive lands and then demand restrictions.

      1. avatar Waffensammler98 says:

I believe that phenomenon has to do with the evil genius of Marxist rhetoric, and how it can define itself twenty distinct ways while having both different and similar meanings to the right people simultaneously. The whole “But that wasn’t real socialism” excuse was born from this, and so like children, they try again and again hoping to achieve impossible results.

My response: If that (Stalin, Mao, Che, etc) is what happens when socialism sort of gets it wrong, then I really don’t want to stick around if and when it succeeds.

        1. avatar Geoff PR says:

They will then point piously to Scandinavia.

Don’t let pesky, inconvenient details like over 100 hand grenade attacks recently dissuade you.

Grenade violence only happens in areas no self-respecting Swede would ever go.

And those lies about the women being raped are coming from Trump supporters. Besides, the ‘immigrants’ were just trying to be friendly…

        2. avatar Waffensammler98 says:

The irony of their fondness of Scandinavia, is that none of those countries are “socialist” pertaining to the economically definitive form they want to install here. They have altered tax structures (which I disagree with) yes, but they’re not socialist in the slightest because they allow private enterprise and ownership of production to exist. What these fools want is the same kind of economic suicide that wrecked Cuba, Venezuela, etc in which privately owned anything is banned

        3. avatar TX_Lawyer says:

The deal with Scandinavia that allowed for the success of an entitlement heavy society was two fold.

First, they were a homogeneous population. Same race and culture (history, moral views, etc.). The more homogeneous a population has been, the more successful a welfare state has been in that state.

Second, oil money. A ton of oil money for a scarcely populated country can go along way to funding welfare for the general population.

        4. avatar TX_Lawyer says:

Waffensammler98, what the left in this country want, is a blend of socialism and fascism (at least one of the many definitions of fascism). Socialism is generally “public” ownership of the means of production. Many definitions of fascism include government control over the means of production with private ownership.

The left in this country, or at least their leadership, are trying to do is to control private industry through regulation. They are happy to leave these industries in the hands of private individuals as long as private industry supports them. Then they want to provide welfare to the broadest number of people they can. After that, they leave it to fiscal conservatives to find a way to pay for it.

      2. avatar Me says:

Those resrictions arent supposed to apply to them “this” time. Only those they disagree with.

    2. avatar neiowa says:

“umpteen million dimwitted American college students” are just so many empty skulls full of mush. The EVIL is the MARXIST Progtards professors that daily fill these younguns with their utopian claptrap.

  4. avatar Joe R. says:

Second verse, same as the first.

Same as it ever was, same as it ever was

    Welcome to the party pal.

    Blinking cow says “HOLY SH_T”?

    1. avatar Turd Furgeson says:

  5. avatar eremeya says:

The university name is Renmin University not Renin University. It literally translates as “People’s University”.

Having lived in China I can say that most everything done in China is about Government control. Any freedoms or perceived freedoms is all about keeping the people appessed just enough so they don’t revolt.

  6. avatar Ogre says:

Government control in China? Nothing has changed in thousands of years except the name of the government. Emperors? Warlords? Communist Party of China? All the same. The lower classes in China have never had the ability to be armed (and thus influence the course of government) unless the government consented to it for some reason of its own. The same may be said of people from Europe (where the lordly classes and later the bureaucratic classes) forbad arms to the masses (except for the well-connected ones) in order to maintain state control over them. If you look at historic social models throughout the world, you will be able to arrive at why attitudes in various countries are as they are today – the people have always been ruled and controlled from the top down. Then comes the U.S., where people fled to in order to escape that control and rule themselves. Until the coming of progressivism/marxism and its top-down statist control goals, this country has been about individualism and personal freedom. I hope we can keep it that way.

    1. avatar MamaLiberty says:

“this country has been about individualism and personal freedom.”

Unless you were an indian, a black, Irish, Italian, Chinese, Polish, German, Japanese, moonshiner, Mexican, ingest prohibited substances, or for a long time, even if you were just female.

At various times, for relative periods, almost everyone was denied individualism and personal freedom for one bad reason or another from the beginning. Eventually, all were included in the tax slave status as “citizens,” one way or another. No real individualism or personal freedom is tolerated most places in America today, let alone anywhere else in the world. Most people just don’t understand what individual liberty is or how that would change their whole lives. Too many believe whatever their masters “allow” to be freedom.

  7. avatar OmnivorousBeorn says:

Breaking! In China, [fill in the blank] is all about government control.

  8. avatar samuraichatter says:

“In China, Gun Control Is About Government Control”

As opposed to all the other countries where its not [sarc].

It is always about control. That is why nations w/ nuclear weapons that were bought and paid for w/ tax dollars can say that you or I cannot have a sawed off shotgun (paid for w/ our own money) – you know for safety 🙂

  9. avatar W says:

“That rifle on the wall of the labourer’s cottage or working class flat is the symbol of democracy. It is our job to see that it stays there.”
    – George Orwell

  10. So compare china’s gun murder and murder rate to the murder rate of the US.

It’s harder to kill a dozen people with a knife, baseball bat or a motor vehicle and it’s easier to survive, run away or fight back against a nut-bar with those items than a firearm.

And as usual…Why is that racist cowardly neo-nazi coward of a fake news blog owner ignoring the mass shooting that happened at a gym in florida?

This doesn’t happen in China, let alone, Europe, Japan, Canada, Singapore and Australia on a daily basis.

    1. avatar eremeya says:

It wasn’t a mass shooting at a Florida gym. The number shoot fell below the number considered for mass shootings.

In China there is no official murder rate released to the public but many people in China believe the actual rate is comparible to the US.

Also there are shootings in China. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/jun/23/six-die-china-shooting-spree

      1. What happened in china is considered rare versus the numerous shootings that happen here almost everyday.

I bet your going to ignore this as well.

But according to the cowardly bigoted racist neo nazi Robert farrago, These “don’t” count.

Think for yourself and not whatever some gun-worshipping low-iq blog for smucks tell you.

        1. avatar eremeya says:

I see you have stopped saying hundreds of dozens of mass shootings a day happen.

        2. avatar eremeya says:

When are you going to think for yourself and not whatever the anti constitutional left tells you?

        3. avatar Me says:

I’m not giving up my right to defend myself no matter what you say. If you don’ like it, you can cash me ouside. How bout dat?

      2. Because there is truth to what I say and I’ve provided constant stats from various web sources such as WHO, CDC, UN and scientific blogs only to have my posts deleted and altered by this fake news website.

        1. avatar Kroglikepie says:

Truth? Um, you *literally* just posted that it is easier to fight back against a car then a firearm. You clearly have no idea how either vehicles or firearms work.

        2. avatar Excedrine says:

Because there is actually absolutely zero truth to anything you say and you’ve only been able to twist official statistics, that are as a matter of fact wholly irrelevant and clearly inapplicable to these United States in the first fucking place, into leftist propaganda and dogmatic drivel that is entirely antithetical to even the most fundamental concepts of civil rights. ALL of them, mind you, including the right to keep and bear arms — whether you or anyone else alive personally fucking thinks so or not. Oh, and the moderators here have no ability to alter jack shit, either. They rightly delete the vast majority of your bullshit, too, because this is a blog, you fucking dipshit, NOT a “news” site.

FYI, if you actually wanted real news to start with, you WOULDN’T even be watching the talking head presstitutes in the whorestream media in the fucking first place. There’s a very good reason why the general public — across the board and across party lines — have little to ZERO trust in the “news.” But, no, it’s you regressive proglodytes that want nothing to do with reason or evidence, much less have any desire to actually apply one to the other. In fact, I rightly doubt you even have the intellectual capacity to possess one or the other to begin with. Let alone both.

That is the key difference between you and the rest of us ADULTS out here living in the real world, while you screaming me-me children are suckling on the dried and dying teats of the state. An entity that gives not two shits about you. An entity that has killed more than a quarter-of-a-billion people in the 20th century alone, already more than all disease and famine and pestilence in all of recorded history. There’s a term for it, now: democide. Literally “death by government,” and it’s not even anything new. I suggest you Google it, should you be bothered to do any actual research on your own instead of taking what’s being handed to you by your fellow leftist shitstains without so much as a word of question, doubt, or introspection.

    2. avatar Kroglikepie says:

Do you just string buzzwords together hoping an insult will pop out? Jeez dude, take a chill pill and do some damn research before you blow a vein with your feigned outrage.

    3. avatar JDS says:

Do you ever crawl out from under your bed? The outside world must be terrifying for you. If the people who run this blog rate as quote “cowardly bigoted racist neo nazi” I can’t imagine how you function in the real world. There are snowflakes and then we have you, the queen of snowflakes.

  11. avatar Rokurota says:

    This never gets old:

  12. avatar Stinkeye says:

In tomorrow’s news, Renmin University professor Zhou Xiaozheng has gone missing.

In next week’s news, Renmin University professor Zhou Xiaozheng never existed, and it is a crime against the State to say that he did.

    1. avatar DaveL says:

I’m sure they’ll say he was a terrorist who was shot and killed in an attack on police.

Where zero terrorists were shot and wounded.

      And zero were captured unharmed.

  13. avatar pg2 says:

And in other news, rain is usually wet.

  14. avatar DaveL says:

Does it really mean to be said? Were the Acts of Proscription of 1747 enacted in response to a rising homicide rate, or the 2nd Jacobite uprising? When England passed the Firearms Act of 1920, the homicide rate was lower than it is today… but it just happened to coincide with the Irish War of Independence. Just like the NFA just happened to coincide with the Great Depression and the near-assassination of Truman. Just like the GCA happened to coincide with the zenith of the Civil Rights movement and recent memory of the Kennedy assassination. Just like the Brady Handgun bill just happened to bear the name of a man wounded in an attempt on Reagan’s life.

So I guess it’s not always about suppressing revolution. Sometimes it’s about fear of assassination.

  15. avatar Bub says:

Yup Bubba, pretty sure planes, choppers, and tanks beat small arms any durn day.

    1. avatar Excedrine says:

Yeah, Bub. Tell that to the Vietminh, SNA, Mujahedin, and the Taliban who actually beat planes, choppers, and tanks with practically nothing but small arms.

Someone has clearly forgotten their history. 😉
