If California’s civilian disarmament laws are enacted, violence will ensue. I’m not speaking here of armed resistance—although that’s a distinct possibility. I’m talking about the fact that all laws depend on the threat of violence. In other words, do this or you go to jail. We will make you go to jail. In other words, Golden State cops aren’t going to seize newly illegal firearms by offering their owners flowers and chocolate. They’ll do it with a modern sporting rifle in their hands and a militarized force behind them. If I was a betting man, I’d put my money on some kind of violent “incident” before then. Some kind of a disastrous, perhaps intentional miscommunication between the public, anti-gun groups, the police and/or armed protestors. Check out this little gem from katu.com ahead of today’s confluence of pro and anti-gunners in Portland . . .
And while Freeman and Rinkin [in the video at the top of the post] expect lawmakers on hand as they demonstrate firearms safety and weapons handling, some people want to know if the rally will create a situation similar to last month in Southeast Portland. On that day two men walked the streets of Sellwood with their semiautomatic rifles in hand to demonstrate their Second Amendment rights. It led to 911 calls and a day care center lockdown.
“It’s hard to have a dialogue with someone who’s holding a gun,” said Jenn Lynch, whose group, Million Moms for Gun Control, is holding its own rally this Saturday.
“Standing out publicly for your support for gun control is a scary thing when you know people who are pro-Second Amendment tend to be armed. It’s just a scary leap to make,” she said.
As the Brits say, it’s the bus you don’t see that kills you. As far as I’m concerned, the question is not when. It’s what then?
“Radical pro-gun terrorists have murdered innocent city officials in an attempt to force the government of California to overturn their latest firearms safety measures. Speaking from the capitol, the Governor said that acts of terrorism will not be tolerated. Police are currently searching for other members of the terrorist cell, who use websites such as AR15.com and TTAG to communicate and organize their attacks. The Department of Justice has said they are looking into taking those websites down in order to stop the terrorist threat.”
It also hard to have a dialogue with a hysterical person.
> As the Brits say, it’s the bus you don’t see that kills you.
The reason the Brits don’t see those buses is because they look the wrong way before crossing the street.
Do I believe Dornor to be a nutjob? Yes.
Do I think Dornor has a point? Well, LAPD didn’t exactly help their case by shooting up a vehicle that only remotely (and that’s a charitable interpretation) resembled Dornor’s.
Dornor has smoked LAPD cops out for what they are: trigger happy street commandos with little regard for due process or citizens that might be in the line of fire. (see empty vehicle that was also shot up)
Anyone really care to ask just where LAPD cops will come down when it comes to civilian disarmament?
Only someone unbalanced enough to call for an assault weapons ban before going on a murder spree with an AR-15 would think that posting comment in the CNN cesspool of reader drivel will make a difference.
Thank God i left Laurel,Md . 22yrs ago and came to Virginia and nevered looked back!!
I would say an XDm is overall better than a Glock for home defense. Not that Glock is bad, far from it, but while both are good guns, the XDm is just a little more comfortable and better designed, therefore resulting in better shooting. I know some people who (for some mystical reason) cannot hit anything with it, while apparently being OK with a Glock, but personally, although I can shoot both, the XDm’s comfort allows for a slightly better experience.
As for concealed carry… I don’t have much experience, but I’m waiting for an XDs 9mm, so that both my pistols would have identical features, ammo and controls, thus reducing the possibility of fumbling.
It’s a cliche, but it’s true: If gun owners were half as violent as civilian disarmament proponents think we are, why are there any of them left?
Dorner’s agent booked him a gig on Pierced Organ’s show next week. Nice work.
Nothing beat the form/dimension/capacity/firepower of the Kel-Tec P11, for me (at least that I’ve found). The fact that it’s a cheaper gun was icing on the cake.
I really don’t understand why they’re searching for the gunman in this case. After all…..this is California; wouldn’t they be searching for the guns instead?
Ok, for schmucks like myself who are stuck here for the for-seeable future…what to do?
I’ll say it again, something about this whole ordeal seems a bit off to me.
Anything with this much media hype always raises red flags.
Glad I live in America and not California…
Will criminals follow these laws also?
I wonder if TX Rangers accept lateral transfers.
And I repeat, How exactly are these rules, regulations, licensing requirements and/or fees any different from a poll tax on voters which has been specifically determined to be a violation of civil rights and therefore unconstitutional? Why are we spinning our wheels and tilting at all these windmills when SCOTUS has already ruled on this issue? No State or other jurisdiction can impose a tax or fee on any person before that person can exercise their rights as outlined in the constitution. It’s that simple.
If you allow any government agency to set the standards that determine when and if you can exercise a right then it is not your natural, inalienable right, it is a privilege granted by the government according to their whims.
Greetings!!!
Not a single peep about firearms training or education in proper firearm handling for youth or adults. These guys sure have their priorities straight….
This reminds me of “Unintended Consequences”
Not a surprise, the citizen disarmament groups will continue full steam ahead.
Sounds like a typical leftist to me. He just went the one step further that they’re all subconsciously capable of.
It’s no secret that leftists and gun-grabbers are violent, hateful, mentally-deranged individuals, it’s just that most managed to cope with life by irrationally lashing out verbally and passive aggressively through veiled death threats. This guy just got that extra push.
Why doesn’t everyone just register to vote in CA since there’s no ID laws using a mail in ballet and a P.O. box have your mail forwarded. Do the same thing the illegals do to vote or get a check mailed to them and vote the nuts out? Everyone should know someone in CA. for a address or use a vacant lot or condemned house address. Fight fire with fire.
Spending more money CA doesn’t have on things that will drive businesses and people out of CA. Why don’t they go ahead and lay off more cops, and release more prisoners while they’re at it…
Personally the XD has a better feel than the glock. I haven’t had much experience with kahr or the m&p pistols, but I haven’t heard enough to convert me. I shoot my XD 45 well enough to be confident with it
But dat caracal on the other hand….A LOT of people I know say its the best Damn thing since sliced bread (technical defects aside)
As I was leaving one day I did my holster check and found it missing holster and all!
I panicked and searched half the house. I knew I had it on earlier so I hadn’t bothered checking the locked gun room yet(where it was)….. I was wearing my snubbie on my ankle instead of my full size in the shoulder rig and had swapped out that morning……I felt like a moron.
To this day I can’t figure out how I didn’t notice the weight but I guess complacency can do strange things when you’re used to carrying either/or depending on the weather.
+1 Bill.
They have to legalize all drugs to make room in our jails for all of us new Felons this will create.
Well all I can say is I hope this doesn’t get out of hand and paid assassins are not used again like the tyranny Administration did in Newtown. Boy I hope not, I really hope not.stay calm all is well!
I’m not giving up my Ed Brown’s. 42 years ago I carried a 1911 in a M7 tanker holster. I have stuck with the 1911 all these years. You just can’t beat the 1911.
That being said I think you have called it right.
I recommend Glock’s or S&W revolvers to people who are looking for a first handgun. KISS
Being new to handguns I’m not sure that my opinion counts….but
I purchased a xdm 40 4.5 about 6 months ago and have been to the range with it about 6 times and in general I am happy with it.
Although my grouping with it tends to be low and left of bulls-eye I fealt that I was shooting it well.
Then when all this crazy gun control “crap” came about I decided that I would get another 40 cal.
I picked the CZ P07 duty because of how great it felt in my hand.
My 1st and so far only time on the range with it was a thing of beauty. First shot dead on bulls-eye! Although that was as much luck as anything else, I shot MUCH better with the P07 over the xdm (i was alternating while my wife was reloading clips). I far preferred the trigger pull of the P07 over the xdm.
Keep in mind that I am still a novice with handguns, but from a “wet behind the ears” shooter, I LOVE THE P07!
“An armed society is a polite society.” – Robert A. Heinlein
‘Oh man you are KILLING ME today with these repeated wet dreams about gun owners actually backing up their big talk with armed action against “the man”.’
Ad hominem attack – attacking the man instead of the message. Nothing intelligent, rational, or logical here.
“It’s time to face it – old fat white guys aren’t going to do a damn thing when the ATF comes to collect their arms.”
Argumentum ad ignorantiam – assuming something is true simply because it hasn’t been proven false. Again, nothing intelligent, rational or logical here.
“It’s simple psychology apart from anything else – if you don’t have the balls to even leave your house without a gun (or go to yoga class for that matter) then you are going to do exactly nothing when the real authority turns up.”
Combination of ad hominem, red herring, and confusing correlation with causation, though the correlation here is iffy at best. Again…
“Just how long do you think you will last against SWAT anyway?”
Red Herring – for those of us intent on keeping our oath, it’s not about how long I last. It’s about defending individual liberty. However, I am working, feverishly, to ensure my family, my friends, and I last as long as possible.
Again, nothing intelligent, rational or logical in your statement.
The reference to “The Onion” article – Straw Man argument. Look it up.
Again, …
Liberty2Alpha’s statement was opinion. So was yours. We all tend to work with confirmatory biases. Some work to overcome them. Some don’t.
Alinsky’s Rules just ain’t working so well on freezing and ridiculing unalienable human rights granted by our Creator.
Trolls do not deserve serious responses, just mockery and counter-trolling.
At this point I think finding ammo for a 300 is more difficult than zeroing one.
This is pretty good. Our policy is “No sales to NY, period”, but this is more broad. That’s a good thing. Wonder what my higher-ups would think of this…
Awesomeness! I may have to add a LaRue to my wishlist.
I always thought LaRue was a little spendy but after this, I’m going to probably buy something from them.
“Vhere are your papers!”
I hope this catches on, the way it did at the former PA show. It is a counter to the municipalities that are pushing companies to “toe the line” if they want to bid on contracts.
For the life of me, with everything going on in Southern California, I can’t see the humor in this. I know I’m probably in the minority, but this is not responsible or safe gun handling at any age. Not funny.
Finally, the manufacturers are standing for something. Bravo, LaRue. You have my loyalty.
And people wonder why I’m a firearms aficionado.
As the old adage ends, “then only the criminals will have them.”

We need to move quickly to ban these weapons of war and get them off of our streets! Oh, they are LEOs? They shot up a neighborhood? Oh that’s ok, they are trained!
As a career police officer, and use of force and firearms trainer, I have to make the observation that it is rather sad this Chief can be the head of his department yet have so little understanding of use of force issues.
Police officers carry firearms exactly because they are in fact defensive weapons. Cops don’t get to choose to use force, the bad guy is the person who makes this choice, cops have to respond to it.
One can not, under Garner and Graham doctrine, use a firearm (deadly force) without there being someone who’s life needs to be defended. Period.
This Chief is completely out of touch with reality.
