Content contestant Jessica J. took home the ballistic goodies yesterday by making one of the most eloquent cases for armed self-defense you’ll read anywhere. Commentator Natalie Foster, in her latest effort for the NRA, wants to let you know that women’s interest in firearms goes beyond that. In fact, the way she sees it, as go women in shooting, so goes the Second amendment. In her view, the fight for your gun rights “will be won or lost by the way women perceive guns.” Dead on, or dead wrong?

  1. Dead on.
We need more interest in guns by women to be better empowered and responsible.

There is a sick and twisted version of feminism that would prefer a woman not have the means to equalize herself and defend her life or her loved ones’ lives. The kind that is perpetrated by media like those damn Twilight books and movies, which apparently encourages girls to be useless and dependent on a glittery vampire to save the day.

    • It IS dead-on. Here’s the problem. Or a big part of it, anyway: Women tend to be nurturers, and they don’t particularly feel connected to “machines” and mechanical devices and such. (But they love their cars, paradoxically); feminism was all about “empowerment”, and that meant learning to drive and not being dependent upon their husbands and other men for their rides.

That’s fine, if that’s all there was to it. But it’s NOT all there is to it, despite the posturings of feminists. They should want to be competent to help protect their families. “For the children”. It’s a conundrum wrapped in mystery, wrapped in enigma, that they want the males in their lives to solely accept that responsibility. That’s just wrong.

Women tend to be attracted to colors and nuances; men are oriented towards small details and movement. We’re like little T. Rexes, in a way.

This is the gap that we must all bridge, men and women alike. Women, you love your family, and you nurture your kids.

And that means taking a share in the responsibility of protecting your family, too. And that means learning to embrace guns and shooting; shooting predators, if need be.

There is so much in your history – and even more so of your recent history, women – that has been intentionally programmed out of you.

It is time you reclaimed your history, your heritage, and stand beside us as we assign the programming to the past. LEARN GUNS AND SHOOTING, and we will win and set things aright again.

YOU can do it. You MUST do it. For your families, and for all of our society. Make your mind up to do it, and DO it.

And together we will set our society on the course of our destiny. Together.

    • Dead on. My wife carries every day and she carries a revolver….because that’s what she wants to carry. It ain’t pink either.

The bonus is that the ladies are nicer to have at the range than middle aged fat rednecks like me.

  2. Yes, women compose 50-ish% of the population and I think the longevity of our 2A rights will rise and fall with what women voters do. There are so many single moms raising families and if they are supporters of 2A rights then it’s likely that their children will be as well. I work at a gun store and I have so many male customers come in and look and say, “Yeah, I had guns but when we got married she made me get rid of them all.” I always smile and think, “You wuss! Who’s the boss in the family? Obviously not you!” while saying, “You should bring her in and rent a 22 for her to shoot, it’ll be fun, a great date-nite!” It’s undeniable. Men do what women tell them to do!! (giggle)

    • I’m really tired of the wuss charge being leveled at men who do things because it is easier than constantly arguing with their wives.

Men generally give in because giving in is less of a hassle than getting a divorce or listening to your wife bitch endlessly. Take a survey amongst your friends and aquaintances. See how many women ultimately do something because their husband/Significant Other bitched so much they gave in. Now ask the same question of the guys.

Smple fact is that guys eventually get worn down and do things they otherwise would not do because it’s easier than listening to the constant complaining and/or dealing with the atttitude.

      • I think that’s called being a wuss. Not that I’m saying I’m not one as well. And my wife is a better shot than I am.

      • sorry to be so harsh, but you probably shouldn’t have married someone that was wrong for you.

    • The mistake is not being clear with your spouse what is important to you before getting married. My girlfriend knows exactly how I feel about firearms and that they are part of the package.

  3. What is the population statistic of women vs men: 60/40 or something like that?

My mother was with me when I took my firearms training class when I was 12. It was her idea.

As the perceived nurturers of the household it is entirely conceivable to understand that they play a significant role in the perception of peoples mindsets towards firearm possession and useage.

It is entirely understandable that with them, holding an acceptance of participation, the key to changing mindsets and developing a greater understanding of what it means to keep and bear arms can be found.

As an example; My son has a friend that would love to participate in our outings to the range. His Dad also doesn’t have a problem with him going and experiencing what it is to learn about firearms. He himself has owned all types of firearms, but his Mom is adamantly opposed. Thus he never gets to because the Dad simply lacks the testicular fortitude to go against his not so insignificant other.

    So goes the nation…

    • “What is the population statistic of women vs men: 60/40 or something like that?”

You are WAY off. It’s 51% or so. There’s a biological reason for that strategy I can’t go into here. You figure it out. It has to do with the survival of the species, and I’m NOT being Darwinistic, believe me. Darwin was so full of shit, in so many ways.

      • Women are 51% of the population and they vote. If 51 % of the voters combined with 10+ % of the voters(I’m guessing here cause I have no idea how many males are anti gun) vote against our gun rights we will have pols and judges that are anti gun. Our rights will be eroded to the point that we will look back on the California days with fondness.

  4. Well women are half the population right? Their say WILL make a difference. I still cringe at the fact my sister wants me to build her a pink and purple AR, it just feels and looks wrong…

  5. Remember:the husband may vote against his wife’s wishes, but he must live with her after Election Day.

This is why women’s perception of the RKBA is important: because if the wife is an anti gun liberal she expects her husband to vote as she does. That means there’s even more votes at stake then the 51% in raw female vote statistics.

That being said-and I’m just speaking of the facts here-most women will vote against the RKBA,as the only party with credibility as pro-feminist are the Democrats. We need not discuss how anti gun that organization is.

  6. Are women important? yes. Do we pro-gunners need as much support as we can get? ABSOLUTELY. Are there hundreds, if not thousands of women who are better than I at firearms? I sure as hell wouldn’t bet against it. BUT, to say that a God given right and an amendment that is second on a long list things important to our nation is dependant on strictly what women want seems rather egotistical. We are all in this together, brother AND sister.

  7. Women may very well keep the 2nd Amendment alive. IF enough of them yell and scream about needing a firearm to be safe, secure, and as a means of protecting their children. However, as we saw in another post, where the young mother was beat sensless, the PC attitude was alive and well. She just wanted the guy caught. And her husband was speechless. The solution, get a security system. Yep thats the answer.

Pay for a passive piece of crap that still gets you killed. Do you know, do you care, that if you have a security system, they must first send AN ARMED GUARD to your residence, BEFORE calling the police. Why? In order to charge you $75.00-$100.00 for a security check. Don’t believe me, read your contract. This little bit of policy is enforced where ADT has a system. And it is with police approval. Why is that, so that 911 calls are freed up, and the police aren’t sent out on a wild goose chase.

Ladies we need you to call your reps and tell them to leave your firearms alone. Tell them you vote, you love your pistol/revolver, it keeps your family safe, and you don’t want want to be a victim like that young wife/mother in the slave state of NJ.

  8. As a single man, I took women out shooting whenever possible. I even helped fish brass out of a few brassieres, on account of being a helpful guy.

  9. I’m not entirely sure our rights absolutely hinge on women’s feelings toward the 2a, because as we have seen, a small group of very passionate and vocal men have led the charge both in making positive changes to 2a conceptions and legislation and heading off massive infringements of those rights. I don’t mean to marginalize the involvement of everybody else and certainly not that of women, but at the heart of our cause there is a strong group of men who are the face of 2A. We vote and write letters and call and rally, but they are the ones leading those actions, and they (rightfully) hold a lot of sway.

Now, I do believe that women can have a magnifying effect, if you will. Women can be (and most are) extremely passionate about things that matter to them, and whichever way they lean they push the proverbial needle further than we men would on our own. Our figureheads, if I may call them that, can accomplish a great deal, but that may be enhanced greatly by a dose of outspoken female support. Could women provide enough power to overrun our side though? I’m not so sure. We thankfully have a lot of intelligent, impassioned men in positions of influence.

    • They don’t have to overrun our side. Just keepng electing bloombergs, obamas and the like. These people in turn will load the federal judgeships and scotus with their choices and we have england style gun laws.

  10. Feminists in particular are not just interested in empowering women – they are interested in empowering women at the ~expense~ of men.

    Emasculation is their ideal.

Firearms are a man thing and represent masculinity and raw aggressive power.

Feminists will never ever get behind being Pro2A. Not in a million, trillion years.

    • Don’t need the feminists.

In fact, forget about the feminists, since most young women don’t self-identify as feminists, anyways. Get them to enjoy shooting, help show them that guns are useful tools for recreation and self-defense, and a lot of the wind will be taken out of the grabbers’ sails.

Also, men need to stop being ashamed of the things they enjoy. There is nothing unnatural or wrong with men’s love for weapons, wine, women, and song. Kowtowing to the termagants-in-chief of our society has done little if any good, and no small amount of harm.

      • Apparently you haven’t noticed that the feminists have almost completely taken over our society and culture.

  11. More than 50% of the adult population is female and a higher percentage of the adult female population votes than does the adult male population. Currently, nature has reversed itself going against eons of birth rates when a slightly larger number of male infants were born than female infants. This is occurring among amphibians as well as mammals to include humans.

Many gun owners particularly men can be single issue pro-gun voters. Women have a tendency to vote in support of the big security pro-nanny state ie socialism an ideology that is almost always (I think always) against civilian gun ownership. The politicians women generally vote for want increased gun control as do many of those women voters even if those women own guns. I don’t think women understand or want to understand the historical lessons of cause and effect in trusting to a security state that promises more security with just a few more gun control laws that feel-good and seem to make sense on the surface.

Women, more than men, have a historical track record of being swayed to voting in support of politicians and political movements that promise a Utopian smörgåsbord. A few examples of when it was the women’s vote that swept in or supported such movements: Fascist Italy, Nazi Germany, and decades of ongoing support (more than men) for the Soviet Government.

The masses of individual females are of little concern to the feminist leadership. Radical Feminism, which currently leads and dominates feminist supporters, wants a female supremacist Marxist State run by elite females. If you think that concept seems funny then wouldn’t the present factual America seem funny and unbelievable if it was foretold to you in 1970?

  12. Educating women about guns is very important. Minorities like Hispanics/Latinos as well. In particular about weapons like the AR-15 and what it really is.

  13. I have been married to the same woman for 43 years. When I met her she was anti-gun for no other reason then she was afraid of them.

I let her know up front that firearms were going to be part of my household whether she was or not. She opted to try and soon found out a firearm is no more dangerous then the person using it.

Over the years, and now at age 65 my wife, is an accomplished shooter and can hold her own with anyone out to and including 400 yards. Yes, we still shoot and I am still amazed at her abilities.

  14. Dead on.

I grew up knowing how to use firerms (Boy Scouts, dad in the Army), but they were never a significant part of my life so it wasn’t a deal breaker for me when my wife declared that guns were never allowed in the house. However, knowing my wife to be an athletic, competitive, adrenaline junkie, from time to time I’d suggest that she might like shooting.

Love, patience and persistence do wonders in a marriage and one day she finally opened the door. That was not quite two years ago and we’ve gone from zero to fourteen (firearms). Indeed, we went to a gun show last fall and I walked out with one rifle. She walked out with two.

More importantly, her 180 created not one, but three new gun owners. Not only did I get back into shooting after almost three decades away from it, but she is now avidly pro-2A and her mother – who was also ambivalent if not occasionally hostile toward firearms – just got a license to carry.

Aside from the fact that women compose half of our population, a devoted husband will sacrifice some things for his spouse. Get her on board, and it has a multiplier effect.

  15. I just can’t understand all the rhetoric and smoke-and-mirrors on the issue. The people in power will either support, uphold, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States against foreign and domestic enemies, or they should be hanged for treason.
