Hey Sharp Shots! Kirsten Joy Weiss here for the Texas International Firearms Festival (TIFF) at Best of the West Shooting Sports in Austin, Texas November 8 and 9. I’m getting emails asking questions about the event. “How will the ‘try and buy’ function? Will attendees need to purchase and/or supply their own ammunition to try vendor firearms? Will there be any other cost associated with this activity?” For one fee, visitors can try any gun from any exhibitor. There’s no charge for the ammo; it’s provided by the gun makers. If you want to buy a gun . . .

you can buy one (or more!) at an open air gun store, separate from the shooting bays. FFLs will have land lines and computers to run background checks. If you’re a Texas resident, you can buy a gun and take it home that day.

If you’re not lucky enough to live in The Lone Star State, you can buy a firearm and have it shipped to your local FFL. Most FFLs charge a transfer fee for the service. Ask your local gun store what they charge. And while you’re at it, ask them for a copy of their FFL certificate. Sellers at The Texas International Firearms Festival will need a copy to ship your gun to you local gun store.

Will attendees be allow to enter and exit the festival at will throughout each day to retrieve water, food and other supplies from their vehicles?” BW asks. Yes indeed! All people coming to TIFF will register before entering and receive a color-coded wrist band. You can enter and leave the range as you please.

We’ll have plenty more information as we move closer (and closer) to the event. We’re doing everything we can to make TIFF the biggest, safest and most fun gun show ever! Click here to buy your tickets – strictly limited to 5k per day – and I’ll see you there!

  1. I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to go–but I like to check in on these posts anyway in case there’s a picture of Kirsten… 🙂

  2. Unfortunately my marital obligations are preventing me from attending 🙁 We’re going to michigan to visit “relatives” I didn’t even know existed.

  3. This sounds like fun. I’ll definitely be attending the one in January, when the weather isn’t trying to murder me. (hint hint)

  4. @chris at least it’s not planned during the Texas summer.
Jesus, it’s the stuff of legends (bad legends)

  5. Kirsten, if you’re trying to get folks to go, you’re going the right way about it. Free ammo, free shooting, free pictures with every post…
