1/3 of US homicide increase traced to 5 Chicago neighborhoods.

Maybe Mayor Rahm will want to re-think that whole ‘no troops in my town’ attitude . . . ONE-THIRD Of U.S. Homicide Spike Coming From 5 Chicago Neighborhoods

Murders in the U.S. rose nearly 9% last year, and one-third of that increase came from just a few neighborhoods in Chicago, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of the FBI’s annual 2016 publication, Crime in the United States.

While violent crime (homicide, rape, assault, and robbery) also rose nationwide from 2015 to 2016 — over 4% — the data show the increase was not uniform, but rather concentrated in cities like Chicago and Baltimore.

Do tell. It’s almost as if the city’s catch-and-release law enforcement system isn’t really working. Oh, and there’s this:

Interestingly, the paper’s neighborhood-by-neighborhood analysis claimed that areas where homicides spiked had a “lighter street presence by police following officers’ high-profile killings of young black men.”

Can you say “Ferguson effect”? Maybe the Windy City’s worst neighborhoods are becoming unofficial no-go-zones for Chicago’s finest.

In Chicago, as in Baltimore, police became less proactive following protests against the fatal 2014 shooting of a black teenager, Laquan McDonald, by a white police officer, Jason Van Dyke, who has been charged with first-degree murder.

You don’t say. But not to worry. Chicago’s top cop has reported “great progress” in reducing his city’s ever-growing pile of bodies at the city morgue. Do you think he owns a computer?

  1. But wait – isn’t it damn near impossible to get a gun in Chicago? So how could the murder rate go UP in Chicago? I thought strict gun laws are supposed to be the solution? /sarc

    • It’s not near impossible, you first get a FOID ($10 and good for 10 years), which if you can pass the NICS you can get a FOID, then you can buy a gun. 24 hour wait for long gun & 72 hour for handgun. Chicago and unincorporated areas of Cook County have assault weapons ban. If you want to conceal carry then that’s hundreds of dollars & a few months wait, unless you Sheriff or local police throw a flag cause you have something in your past. Not perfect but better than LA, NYC, Jersey & Massachusetts.

      • Waiting periods should be banned as bad for the environment: they require making two trips to the store.

    • Ancient history. C hicago’s infamous handgun ban went out with McDonald v. Chicago, and the State’s ban on CCW went out with Moore v. Madigan, which resulted in statewide shall issue with no exception for Chicago. Chicago has been losing in the courts ever since, although kicking and screaming the whole way, as one stumbling block after another falls.

      • So it IS the relaxed gun laws that are at fault. (I don’t believe that, but you know it’s what the Chicago politicians are going to say.)

  2. It’s almost like the rise in homicide has something to do with gang culture and political corruption…. hummmmm

  3. Whos kidding who??
There is nothing wrong with Rahms bastion of Liberal Democracy. (wink wink)
His paycheck keeps rolling in on time…………………

And what exactly is wrong in BodyMore Md.????
Not enough dead bodies for them?? To change the paychecks there too??

    • Correct, there are at least a few dozen stabbings, chokings, chainsawings, basebating, and the occasional hedgetrimmering. My brother, the Detroit cop actually had a hedge trimmer killing.

  4. The real statistic is how much of the increase is from Democrat controlled cities. I suspect it is all of it. That said we should paint them with it every time they mention gun control.

  5. Oh Chiraq WILL get worse. Now their telling the boys( and way too many gals)in blue they can’t normally even taser the miscreant rabble. I avoid the city like the plague it is…

  6. More murders in Chiraq than Baghdad Iraq or Kabul Afghanistan and they’re controlled by Muslims. Even with no Gun laws over there they are trying to curb terrorism unlike Chiraq. Where the terrorist run the show.

  7. Just more death and destruction from The People’s Repulikkk of Sillynoise, named so because of the stupid shit that comes out of the pols there — as well as the functionally-retarded sycophants that elected them.

There’s a reason why it’s called CHIRAQ by the locals, The Largest Open-Air Shooting Range™ by the PoTG, and so-on and so-forth. And, no, it’s not because of the “lax laws” of the surrounding states. Actual BATFE trace data shows that at least half the guns recovered there originate from within the state — and still take upwards of 11 years to be found at a crime scene, anyway.

It’s the revolving-door “Just-Us” system that deliberately allows violent scumbags to get back onto the streets within hours, instead of decades.

It’s the collapse of manufacturing in the area deliberately caused by the policies of leftist politicians who have not only run the place for three generations, but were practically bought mind-body-and-soul by the very unions that promised to protect their dues-paying members.

It’s the continuing collapse of the local economy as increasingly-violent neighborhoods force out both big-name retailers and mom-and-pop stores. Yes, violence causes poverty — not the other way around — and then becomes a self-reinforcing cycle.

It’s the continuing collapse of our public sk00l system, which leftists have controlled for two generations and counting, which shackles everyone to the lowest common denominator and churns out functionally-illiterate idiots that can’t argue, can’t think, can’t control themselves, and can barely even make change, write their own name (nevermind if it’s spelled correctly or even legible), or speak American Standard English.

It’s the continuing collapse of the nuclear family coinciding with and being continually exacerbated by the ever-growing welfare state, creating generations of children that grew up in daycare with no steady care-taker, no one to provide for their emotional needs for most of the day, and having a fucking meltdown if some doesn’t immediately like their shitty poetry on FakeBook or Tumblr because they’re trying to get the attention that mommy and daddy (if daddy is even in the picture) actively refused to give them.

And I’m just scratching the fucking surface.

    • I disagree with your violence causing poverty assumption, but I can agree with just about all the rest of your points. I can see the same things that happened to Detroit, except the collapse of the auto industry was a HUGE part of Detroit’s decline. Unions, that…

  8. More cops won’t solve this problem. Hopefully the number of cops continues to dwindle down to zero. Then good people would finally be able arm themselves without the tyrants jailing them for exercising their rights.

  9. Almost as if criminals don’t like places with much police, many armed victims (which makes them kinda not victims) and a tough justice system…

  10. This is why I consider Black Lives Matter to be a terrorist organization. They indirectly cause violence to arise in cities. Take Baltimore, our homicide rate was starting to decline until the Freddie Gray riots broke out. After that, BLM hit our city hard and the politicians (democrats) got scared that they would lose support in their primaries so they started telling the police to be gentle with criminals.

Since that is impossible, the police just stopped patrolling the most violent parts of town. Needless to say, now Baltimore has a higher per capita murder rate than Chicago and consistently ranks in the top 3 among most dangerous cities to live in America.

  11. They have to “Catch & Release”, otherwise, they would be wasting time trying to get convictions. Jury members from the hood would NEVER convict a Gangsta, it would mean a death sentence for themselves or their family members.

Liberals are quickly destroying the US.

  12. Why do they not want national gaurd help? If I was mayor, I would be begging the governor for enough to station on every street corner in Austin and Oak Lawn.

Rules of Engagement, do not fire unless fired upon but immediately communicate all crimes and suspicious activity to police. Also ability to detain anyone directly observed actively committing crime until police arrive.

No curfews, no random searches, no arrests. I think the presence would be enough to make a difference.

It would die down for a few nights and move to other neighborhoods, but it would still be a useful “combat mission” training for our troops.

  13. This is nothing new for Chicago. The murder rate there has always been high. Hell in the 1920’s it was on average around 500 or so. Chicago has always hade a really bad gang problem.

  14. These figures are whose? Has there been an independent audit of Chicago gun crimes/shootings/murders? Why should anything involving firearms coming from the Chicago government be believed? It is all simply more anti-gun collusion?
