Normally picking one pistol caliber carbine means selecting one kind of magazine, whether that be GLOCK or M&P magazines or something else entirely. Lower receivers have been designed for one kind and one kind only. Nordic Components is looking to change that by introducing a pistol caliber carbine that offers interchangeable magazine wells which can take all kinds of designs.
Not only will the magazines fit in the gun and feed, but the last round bolt hold open function of the rifle will be operable as well. That’s not something that you see in every pistol caliber carbine and it is definitely appreciated.
Originally shipping for GLOCK and M&P magazines with more options on the way, the system will come as a complete carbine for $1,599 MSRP and additional magazine adapters will be available for $149.
I would be more interested in Colt subgun instead of the M&P magazines. There are actually reliable cheap 30 round Colt subgun magazines on the market. Along with extensions that take them out to 40 rounds.
And this is coming from a guy that has an entire large tub full of S&W M&P 9mm magazines.
The idea is cool, especially for a range day type of thing. My friends run M&P9’s, and I run Glocks. Being able to just swap the mag well out and use each of our magazines is a kinda cool thing.
Issue: Price. $1600 MSRP? I’ll buy PSA first.

Just the lower, Ma’am, just the lower. $1600 for a 9mm AR is retarded, whether it takes Glock magazines or not.
Who the hell buys this stuff? I have a 100% reliable PSA 9mm Glock mag compatible that I popped together for LESS than HALF the price of this thing!
Even regardless of that, who needs a PCC that can use multiple types mags anyway?

Too bad the price on this thing is going to drive me to machine up a custom 80% lower and build my own! Pretty certain I could buy a table top mill and do it the right way for nearly that price…
Why oh why are 9mm ARs so darned pricey? Is there some magical unobtanium part needed to make blowback work in a long gun? Or is it just a precedent started by the MP5?
Often they are using billet lowers which themselves are expensive, but these lowers require a number of low production volume parts (often custom to each lower). The bolts are also often low production items. Often they use nicer finishes and parts than a cheap rifle.
