Summer time and the living’s easy. We’re not quite there yet, but the Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of the season. And with lighter weight clothing and higher temperatures, a concealed carrier’s thoughts turn to smaller, less encumbering gear.
Mike A’s selected the ever-popular GLOCK 43 and one of Benchmade’s most popular knives. And not much else. You gotta do what you gotta do to stay cool, while still being prepared, no?
That’s more like a real pocket dump. If Glocks were just a little thinner, I’d for sure use one. I’m not much for plastic, but them Glocks are A Okay
The 43 is pretty thin, I easily pocket carry during the Texas heat.
The new SIG P365 is a winner for Summer carry. It is a tad thinner, and holds more rounds than the Glock. I held one at Cabelas and it is a future buy for me.
100% agree. They’re still hard to find but I was at the LGS at just the right time and found one. All things considered it’s almost magical how well it shoots.
I still do not understand why people feel the need to downgrade their EDC, just because the temperature changes. Another lack of understanding (for me), is why people carry guns that barely hold enough rounds to properly deal with one attacker, never-mind multiple attackers; which is too-often the case.
Please teach me, seriously. What is the mindset for doing any of the above, other than swapping out the full-size gun while it’s being repaired, or using a smaller, lighter device as a back-up.

Have you ever lived in the subtropical zone where you are primarily outdoors during the day?
Where summer means 90+ percent humidity at nearly 100 degrees F?

@Geoff PR, No I have not, and do not plan to. If it’s going to be that uncomfortably warm, I would plan on staying in a more controlled (temperature) environment; But I do get your point/meaning. Regions that offer/provide weather and/or other such environments that will impede the carry of –enough gun and ammunition to deal with no less than 3 assailants, I try darn hard to steer clear of.

Because in some jurisdictions “concealed” really means “concealed–or else”. Some weapons are more easily concealed than others.
7-9 rounds(if you buy the mag extender) is enough rounds to take care of most threats one is likely to face. If you need more just put in another mag. The 43 is quite accurate and easy to shoot. Then again I ascribe to a different practicality standard. My first aid kit, pocket knives and car kit get far more use then my gun
Carry as much gun as you can and still keep it concealed given body type and what you’re wearing. Shorts and T-shirt don’t work with any full size double stack that I can think of, certainly not on my skinny ass in the summer, but works perfectly well come Fall and winter when I’m sporting multiple layers. But I can sure keep a colt mustang pocket-light concealed in that same shorts and t-shirt combo and not freak out the natives at the beach every summer. And I always carry an extra magazine regardless of what gun I’m sporting, that’s the easier part, so why not.
