“When things happen it’s not the case that you can say, ‘Hang on. I gotta call the cops.’ Then you wait for the cops and then the cops get there and then you’re like, ‘OK. Back to your intruding or whatever you’re up to,'” [Willie Robertson] continued.

In an interview confessional, Korie elaborated further on the incident, stating that there was an intruder trying to get in and although the cops came quickly, she was thankful that she “had a gun to defend” herself.

“But you know those moments you’re sitting there on your bed holding your gun, you know, wondering if someone’s going to bust through your door, I mean it’s scary. I was really thankful that I had it. I didn’t want to have to use it. But in that moment, when there’s an intruder in your home, I felt really, really thankful that I had a gun to defend myself.”

  1. I literally have no idea who this people are. But, I approve the message of having a gun and realizing the police might not get there in time when stuff gets real.

    • Really? Of ‘Duck Dynasty’ fame? I’ve never watched the show myself, but they were marketed all over the place for years.

My wife even got me a ‘Duck Dynasty Carols’ CD for Christmas one year as a gag gift. And she neverv watched the show, either

The family believes in God, guns, and guts. Good ‘ol fashioned ‘Murica.

      • Oh, they’re the Duck Dynasty fellers. Heard of ’em, never watched ’em. I haven’t owned a tv in nearly 10 years.

        • You’re a rookie. I haven’t watched television in more than 20 years. Watched precious little in the 20 years before that. I certainly didn’t recognize the names, but that’s common for me.

  2. Thankfully the coastal technocratic oligarchs are working on a solution to that: https://news.yahoo.com/heres-know-citizen-crime-app-232232687.html

This way they can defund your police and still afford their own on-call Uber cops who will respond at a rate determined by how much you’re willing to pay.

A happy medium between being so wealthy you already have 24/7 protection and so poor you rely on government protection. Now every six-figure suburban Karen can call somebody else to shoo the vagrants off her lawn.

    • Well, for starters….I would not trust or follow anything at all from Yahoo News.

Secondly, it’s just as good as reading The New York Times and every bit as worthless.

      • “Secondly, it’s just as good as reading The New York Times and every bit as worthless.”

There’s great value in reading the NY Times, it gives a look inside the enemies mind…”

        • “Spend enough time there and you lose all sense of reality.”

The same can be said about echo chambers in general…

    • Finally! We can defund the cops and move to a more just socialist model with a private police force!

  3. As to Korie’s last paragraph: That’s pretty much how most of us who carry a firearm for our own protection on a daily basis feel. Not macho, not swaggering around, not entering situations where potential trouble always seems to hang out- just going about daily life and hoping “the situation” never comes to visit.

It’s a great feeling when one doesn’t even feel the presence of the pistol because you’ve been carrying it so long; a worse, naked feeling when you realize that somehow, you forgot to strap it on, even if you’re only in the “supermarket” to pick up a quart of milk.

If you are qualified to carry or live in a permitless carry state: Carry every day, all of the time. Refuse to become a willing victim and live as God intended.

    • “East Timor or Timor-Leste, officially the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, is an island country in Southeast Asia.”

This island might be a democratic republic but that doesn’t mean I want to click on links from there.

    • “As to Korie’s last paragraph: That’s pretty much how most of us who carry a firearm for our own protection on a daily basis feel.”

There’s truth in the saying – “A conservative is a liberal that survived a violent mugging…”

      • Why does a person need to experience the violent mugging first?

The wiser man learns from the mistakes of others.

        • “Why does a person need to experience the violent mugging first?”

          Human nature, I suppose.

Parents say to small kids “Don’t touch the hot stove”.

The message often doesn’t sink in before they get a burn. And after that one, they rarely repeat that mistake… 😉

        • Once touched….it’s hot
          Moving on….

No need to hang around those that still don’t get it reading article after article from people wondering about it.

Human nature? Where is the desire for human growth? advancement? a need to overcome?

Far too many people get caught up in this non-sense. Facebook/Twitter are such good examples. Yahoo and VOX get filtered out.

        • Golly I’ve been violently mugged…on the EL subway in Chiraq. Homie had no idea he would end up fleeing(and his 3 teen boyfriends). No gun or weapons except I was big & strong(then!). Not so much now about to turn 67…yeah guns r good😏 One wonder’s what a rich hillbilly has in this arsenal…

        • Prndll,

“Human nature? Where is the desire for human growth? advancement? a need to overcome?”

Ha ha. If most people where interested in personal growth and advancement, Kardashian would NOT be a household name and we would not have an obesity epidemic in our nation.

The sad fact of the matter is that the overwhelming majority of people are lazy and want cheap/easy thrills all of their waking hours.

        • The events of 2020 and now 2021 would serve as proof against that. If anything, they force a doubling down.

        • LOL what garbage. I’ve been stopped frequently, sometimes at gunpoint, never made me dumb enough to be a liberal or liberal-adjacent. Always either a case of mistaken identity or seemingly suspicious behavior on my part (driving around in the wee hours slowly cruising neighborhoods either as a kid doing pizza delivery or a paper route.)

Then again, I don’t generally idiot things that get one arrested. Sincerely wish you had caught the black lung and saved us all your worthless “knowledge”, but I’m almost 90 percent sure that you made up your West Virginia story. Particularly since you picked a name associated with Cali.

        • “A liberal is a conservative that survived a violent arrest.”

          *Snort*.

The way avoid a ‘violent arrest’ is to do one simple thing –

Do what the cop tells you what to do, then sic a lawyer on him later…

        • Jeebus, Minor IQ, you apparently never met a “Progressive” talking point you didn’t fall in love with . . . and like all “Progressives”, the “truth” of your talking point is in inverse proportion to its applicability to the real world.

I pretty much don’t know a single “conservative” or libertarian who doesn’t believe that (1) cops are necessary and perform a vital function, (2) MOST cops are good, hard-working people who do a really sh***y job fairly well, and (3) we need better training, more oversight, and get rid of qualified immunity and civil forfeiture (if there was a chance I thought you knew, understood, or could fathom the CONCEPT, I would commend to your attention the idea of ‘perverse incentive’, but your tiny brain would probably explode). Y’ALL are the ones running around yelling “ACAB” and “Defund the Police”. We are realistic about the need for police, and the problems with our current system.

But y’all are ALL ABOUT nuance, hence . . . “ACAB!” You remind me of an old country saying, “He’s usually wrong, but he’s NEVER uncertain.”

    • God I hope the Situation doesn’t come to visit. That guy reeks of douchebag in a place (Jersey) that’s got them in droves.

  4. I am really glad they are there, but the asset forfeiture laws, like speeding tickets have created a way for Departments to generate money(outside of taxes). Anytime we mix public service with income generation, the laws will be (at best) ultra enforced and even(worse yet) falsely applied to get that revenue.
When we put people in control of ourselves, we need to have others in control of them, as individuals and as departments.

    • If the popo where required to spend the proceeds of “asset seizure” entirely on equipment for the local vol Fire Dept, you would quickly see the issue resolved.

  5. In case there are still some folks who dont understand; you’re “literally” on your own! It’s up to you to provide your own protection, of course the powers that be will prosecute you for defending yourself, but……

    • I agree. I don’t know why this is so hard for people to understand. It’s such a simple concept.

If the cops were capable of being there THAT fast there would never have been a reason to install red light cameras. I’m not defending them but they are a thing.

    • Sometimes they will, but not always. Largely depends on your location (State/city/county).

  6. Thanks to the comments, I now know who these people are. I was only peripherally aware of the Duck people since I pitched cable when my now grown and married daughter was in the second grade. Two decades without TV invading my home means that I have missed out on all that stuff, one of the best decisions I ever made.

    • Well that duck show has only been on since 2012 so….

  7. Whenever show-biz folk tell the truth I stick a pin in my face to see if I am dreaming. Good on the Duck-Dynasty folk!! And Tim Allen whose “Last Man Standing” ended its 9-year stretch recently.

Ditched cable but kept some streaming services. Watched “World War II in Color”, no too long ago. Glossed over a lot of detail, but still an interesting reminder of a history we should never forget.

Finding clean, shows that are not filled with leftist propaganda is tough. “Gotham” is pretty good; dark mood but good. Excellent CGI. “Criminal Minds” is a New World Order anti-Christian rant that be-saints the FBI. You’ll need a strong stomach and ready recourse to bourbon for that one.

    • “Ditched cable but kept some streaming services.”

Does this also mean not using cable based internet?

      • Prndll,

I have broadband to the house. Internet, only. We do not subscribe to any of those packages where you get a gazillion channels for $119 per month. We use Roku. I think we pay $12 per month. Netflix is another $13 per month. They have a lot of poison in their listings, but we have learned how to avoid most of that. Everything else is free or pay-per-view.

        • As ‘broadband’ doesn’t really mean anything but an upgrade from dialup, that means very little to the question. I can only assume you haven’t cut the cord and are still using cable. But that isn’t the topic of this thread so I’ll move on.

        • YouTube is about 95% of my viewing. Lots of good gun and history stuff there.

    • LifeSavor,

Check out the three part “Boer War” series on YouTube, it’s an older production, highly informative and well worth the nearly six hours (IIRC) run-time.

      btw:

The Brits were the first of “Western” nations to employ “concentration camps” and “chemical weapons”, they started in Africa.

    • Ducks are “Just asking for it”, as far as I’m, concerned.

If they didn’t taste so good, they wouldn’t be turned into supper… 🙂

  8. Celebrities gotta say celebrity things (“I didn’t want to use it, but I was glad I had a gun to defend myself.”). However, the implication is that the woman would hesitate. Not wanting to shoot someone is one thing, but the decision to shoot should already be made…(“I don’t want to shoot anyone, but if someone comes through the door at night, uninvited, there will be no second-guessing about the outcome.”).

    • “However, the implication is that the woman would hesitate.”

I doubt she was the one who bought it, and when the intruder showed up, that forced her to think about it.

It’s an alien landscape for her, but she now intellectualizes the need for one. At least she didn’t recoil in horror away from it. I’m cutting her some slack…

      • “At least she didn’t recoil in horror away from it. I’m cutting her some slack…”

Thinking that because she had to “find” a hidden gun, both of them “recoil in horror” about using a firearm for self-defense when not threatened.

  9. @uncommon sense
“The sad fact of the matter is that the overwhelming majority of people are lazy and want cheap/easy thrills all of their waking hours.”

What a meany. When telling the truth makes people feel bad about themselves, such should be labeled hate speech. Making people feel bad about themselves is the verbal analog to the holocaust. Truth-telling can be just like mass homicide. Truth is the same as “other dangerous weapons”.

Irresponsible truth-tellers should be labeled “prohibited persons”, stripped of their right to vote, and be placed on the “no-fly” list.

    • I got some flying insect killer. I declared this place as a no fly zone and any fly is on the list.
A Fly without wings is a Crawl.

      • “A Fly without wings is a Crawl.”

        The wisdom of the Possum.

I read that line with the image of Kane from the old ‘Kung Fu’ TV show in my head.

Somewhere is the sound of a large gong being struck…

      • Possum cuts to the kernel, once again. No fun.

Question: Jonathan Winters used to tell of Sail Cats, found flat on the hiway. Are Sail Cats and Possums the same thing?

  10. So the actual point of fact is, no one broke into their home, no home invasion occurred and the police officers responded “quickly”.

Was there an arrest, or even questioning of a subject?

What exactly happened, that information seems to be missing from the article. Did someone just knock really loudly on her door and she flew into a tizzy?

The point of the article is that she “feels” better having a gun to protect her.

So this is just one of those ‘feelz’ articles, I thought you guys were against all that ‘feelz’ stuff?

    • Thanks to the efforts your side, police response times have shot up here in Seattle. They’re up to nearly ten minutes for a priority one call. It’s only going to get worse. So, yeah, I think a lot of people would “feel” better with a gun in this situation you’ve created. It’s also the rational decision, considering the rising crime rate and the city’s abdication of their responsibilities.

  11. So was she holding one of those Heritage Arms single action .22 revolvers that one of those Robertson endorse for self defense?

    • They were on the TV, but their show was canceled because his Pa linked same sex marriage with mass murder:

“Speaking at the the Western Conservative Summit last week in Denver, Robertson linked the alleged murders of 160,000 U.S. citizens to the Supreme Court’s 2015 decision legalizing gay marriage. Robertson’s remarks came just four days before Wednesday’s season 10 premiere of “Duck Dynasty.”

Addressing an audience at the three-day political gathering whose other speakers included Donald Trump, Sarah Palin and Carly Fiorina, Robertson estimated that 6,000-7,000 Americans died in the wars in Iraq in Afghanistan. “At the time of those two wars over the last 13, 14 years, you see going on right here in America, 160,000 were murdered,” he added. “Sounds like we got a bigger war going on here than over there. Well who’s behind it?”

Robertson continued, “When you allow men to determine … what’s right and what’s wrong, you get decisions like the five judges saying, ‘I may not know we have 7,000 years of history of men marrying women. A male and a female. For that reason, they’ll leave their father and mother and cleave to one and other and become one flesh. I know it’s been that way for 7,000 years, but we know best for what’s everyone.’”

He often makes statements regarding homosexuals, he seems to always be thinking about that nasty gay sex they’re having.

      • Oh No ! I’m going to have to tear up my Duck Dynasty t-shirt. The one I bought new from GoodWill for $1.95. That’s what I get when my life depends on a TV show that I’ve never seen.

  12. Three guys walked into a bar, the fourth one DUCKED!

  13. In socialist Democrat America bad guys will be required to wait for a social worker to arrive before engaging in criminal behavior. The social worker is there as a witness to make sure you don’t hurt the bad guy as he robs, beats, rapes and then kills you. Remember Bad Guy Lives Matter.

  14. Do I sound bitter, perhaps however I would bet on the following. An emergency call from some “celeb” gets more, and quicker attention than does an emergency call from John Q. Public.
