Say what you will about Paul Helmke, he knows when to make for the exit. The former Ft. Wayne mayor and head of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence (and curtail the Second Amendment) has seen the ineluctable advance of gun rights and decided it’s towel throwing time. With Wisconsin about to become the 49th state to approve concealed carry, Helmke’s decided to spend more time with the family. I’m thinking of taking up a collection to present him with a little parting gift on behalf of the Armed Intelligentsia. I thought this might be an appropriate way to say buh-bye.

  1. Oh, I’ve completely misjudged this guy. He says right there in the video he is not anti-gun. I don’t know who I could have been thinking of. Unfortunately I fear that the brady bunch will not die off when he leaves. Not immediately anyway.

  2. I think a nice replica flintlock pistol, in the smallest footprint available, would be a fine parting gift for our losing contestant.

  3. You guys are all on the wrong track. A S&W 686 or Browning Buckmark. You get more flies with honey…

  4. Clearing the way for New York’s Mayor Bloomberg, are we? The guy’s unemployed as of next year.
