Giffords Tries to Spin Up Yet Another Fudds-for-Gun-Control Group to ‘Take on the NRA’

Oh look! Another sockpuppet “grassroots” organization of “responsible” outdoorsmen and sportsmen who are FED UP! with the radical positions of the super-creepy GUN LOBBY! and want to DO SOMETHING! that’s “responsible.”

Gee, where have we heard this kind of BS before?

Unlike past efforts generously funded by Bloomberg-affiliated front groups, the strings for this particular iteration — something called Gun Owners for Safety (PROTECTING RIGHTS, PROTECTING PEOPLE) — will be pulled by Peter Ambler and the rest of the Giffords civilian disarmament operation. They allegedly already have “chapters” in three states and claim they’re well on their way to building a 50-state organization.

From The Hill:

Gun Owners for Safety will be launched off of a coalition that was founded in 2018 with chapters in Colorado, Minnesota and Texas. It seeks to offer gun owners an alternative to the NRA, which remains stringently opposed to most anti-gun violence proposals.

“Anti-gun violence”…nice.

“I think whether you’re talking about politics, whether you’re talking about lobbying, whether you’re talking about culture change, what’s vitally important is that we focus on the millions of Americans at the center of our politics. If we’re going to have long-term durable change in this country, it can’t just be the activists on the left and the activists on the right. We really have to move the center,” Giffords Executive Director Peter Ambler said.

How big is the Giffords effort? The Hill is only too happy to regurgitate bogus numbers that Ambler has pulled directly out of his ass.

Organizers have already connected with nearly 50,000 gun owners in all 50 states as well as Washington, D.C., and some serving abroad “who are fed up with the NRA,” Ambler said. Members include hunters, collectors, veterans, former law enforcement and others who value firearm ownership but also want to reduce gun violence.

You know, people who own guns and support the Second Amendment, BUT . . . .

Hillary Clinton, Gabby Giffords

And what kind of “anti-gun violence” measures does Giffords — and presumably their new Fudd false front — support? Well, just to name a few:

A new federal “assault weapons” ban
A “large capacity” magazine ban
Red flag laws in all 50 states
A national permit-to-purchase mandate (Illinois-style FOID cards)
Safe storage mandates
Repeal of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (bankrupt the gun industry)

In other words, they support every damned thing on Joe Biden’s extensive wish list of restrictions and limits on the right to keep, bear, manufacture, and sell firearms.

“American voters are hungry for campaigns and messages and groups of people who are attempting to bring people together to accomplish something that serves all Americans. That’s why Gabby is working so hard to organize fellow gun owners across the country,” Ambler said.

Sure they are. That’s why America has added 6.2 million new gun owners in the last seven months alone as more people come to the realization that they’re the only ones they can count on to protect themselves and their families.

Giffords apparently thinks they can erect another Potemkin “common sense” gun rights org that fearful Fudds will flock to as long as the gun-grabbers pinkie-swear never to take their duck guns or deer rifles. All of these attempts have failed in the past and — mark our words — this one will, too.

“Anti-gun violence proposals” probably overstates any violent nature of their anti-gun proposals.

    1. avatar LarryinTX says:

I might wish to join an anti-gun violence group, but first someone would need to tell me how much violence I could expect to visit upon the anti-guns, and what location would the anti-guns be kept in, would there be stalking involved, etc., or would the anti-guns be rounded up first, for violence at our leisure?

Correction needed, Giffords does not “think” about anything.

        Exactly!
Do we need grille suits or urban camo?
        Short, long or medium range?

I just finished reloading a batch of my favorite .375 H&H. Or do I need the .416 Rigby or the .470 nitro?
(By the way, I’m still looking for a .600 nitro double if anybody knows anybody selling one)

        1. avatar SAFEupstateFML says:

Getting ready to hunt lightly armored game? Just envious that I am still stuck pre 375 h&h for that end of the collection. Good luck and great job so far.

    2. avatar Ing says:

The way they hyphenated the compound adjective, anti-gun describes the nature of their proposed violence.

It’s the grammatical equivalent to a Kinsley gaffe. Unintentionally truthful.

  2. avatar Mark N. says:

Wait, how is this any different from what Giffords has been preaching for the last several years?

Nothing to stop violence. Just take guns from us citizens. Thats it. Whats driving people to perform violent acts??

Nothing about violence being portrayed in films, or on TV.

Guns are not the root of societies problems.

  7. avatar RayS says:

They combined 2 separate issues into one. They say they’ve connected with 50,000 gun owners who are tired of the NRA AND want gun control.
1 – Lots of us are tired of the NRA and Waynes mismanagement. So, if the asked me that question, I’m in the 50,000. They just assume then if you arw tired of the NRA, you are for more gun control. The old “if”, “then” logic.

  8. avatar Shire-man says:

Fudds? Those homicidal psychos blocking out the sun with streetsweepers and shooting at Bambi from 500 yards out with their founders-could-never-have-envisioned military sniper weapons?

Time to ban this menace. For the children.

    A national permit-to-purchase mandate (Illinois-style FOID cards)
    Safe storage mandates

I qualify as everyone of these categories and I nor anyone that I know who is a hunter, collector, veteran, former law enforcement want any of this BS.

  12. avatar Elmer Fudd says:

I offer for your consideration, Judge Ladd Wiles of Yamhill County Oregon. As Judge Wiles’ wife, former US Attorney for the State of Oregon explains in this guest editorial, Judge Ladd Wiles is a “responsible gun owner” who favors “reasonable gun control.”

    https://www.oregonlive.com/opinion/2013/05/universal_background_checks_wo.html

Judge Wiles recently heard a case in which a marijuana bootlegger fired two rounds from a 12 gauge shotgun loaded with slugs at his landlord’s children in retaliation for efforts to evict. The bootlegger missed by only ten feet from a range of about 150 yards.

Judge Wiles accepted the argument that the shooting was justified because the landlord was harassing the tenant and refused to understand that a 12 gauge shotgun could be a lethal weapon even at intermediate range. If Judge Wiles had been mentoring his putative progeny when he was taking his hunters safety class so that he could go hunting with his alleged father, he would have learned that 12 gauge shotgun can be lethal out to a range of one mile.

Of course Judge Wiles also should have understood that marijuana remains a Federal felony. Judge Wiles’ own wife was aggressively prosecuting similar grow operations and invoking civil forfeiture of grow sites when she wasn’t too busy having sex with her subordinates at the US Attorney’s office. It appears that judge Wiles favors “reasonable regulations” such as background checks and bags on semiautomatic rifles, but had declared open season on children.

        Damn spell checker.
The most infuriating aspect is that the work checker will substitute a more common word for a less common word that is spelled correctly.

        I meant “semiautomatic bans!”

I figured that much. Over the years I’ve gotten pretty good at understanding and translating Typonese.

  13. avatar GunnyGene says:

What exactly does “Connected with” mean? Does that mean they got 50k looky lou’s on their facebook page? I know they want us to think that means 50K people signed up for membership or sent them money, etc., but that’s not what they said.

    1. avatar Dude says:

It’s probably similar to the 2016 Russian ad narrative. In other words, people immediately closed it, skipped it, or didn’t pay any attention to it. The result was a hill of beans. But it reached millions!!

  14. avatar Will Drider says:

It’s called “GIFFORDS Gun Owners for Safety”. That should tell you everything you need to know. The fact that nothing in their narrative includes firearms for self defense and one of their firse articles is “The good guy with a gun myth.” reinforces it’s just a marketing ploy so Giffords and other gun grabber orgs can stack numbers of “gun owners” who agree with “more gun control” at least the bait part but not the “switch” full disarmament plan.

  15. avatar SOL says:

So sick of her and her puppet master astro-nut husband who displays her like a carnival freak for sympathy. I wish her assailant had better aim in retrospect.

  16. avatar Bigus Dickus says:

Giffords is a prime example of the failure of gun control. If there was better gun control she wouldn’t be harassing folks right now.

  17. avatar rt66paul says:

I, too support responsible gun ownership. As I am responsible for the guns in my control, I am doing my part. I certainly hope that other gun owners are practicing gun responsibility, I will keep my guns close to make sure they don’t get irresponsible with me or mine.
