Florida Senator Anita Flores Betrays Gun Owners, Husband

Dean Weingarten - comments No comments

Florida State Senator Anitere Flores (R-Miami) was a staunch Second Amendment supporter. As state rep, she had a 100 percent rating with the NRA. In 2016, Miami voters sent her to the Florida Senate.  She was expected to be a key vote in the Florida Senate Judiciary Committee in 2017, supporting popular gun law reform legislation. Nope . . .

Flores surprised everyone by being the key vote to kill several gun law reform bills instead of aiding their passage.  From sunshinenews.com:

Steube had a small victory when the Senate Judiciary Committee passed a bill which would allow concealed weapons permit holders to temporarily store their firearms in courthouses, but the victory was only short-lived.

Flores, a key vote on the Judiciary Committee, vowed she wouldn’t support Steube’s 10 other bills, which means they would have virtually no chance of making it onto the Senate floor.

Flores is one of five Republicans and four Democrats on the committee, so if she votes against bills and all Democrats vote in lockstep, Steube’s gun bills would be sent to their graves early.

Second Amendment Supporters are not the only people Senator Anitere Flores has betrayed. Her husband is the latest in line. She has admitted to an affair with Senate Minority Leader Oscar Braynon (above).  From sun-sentinel.com:

Two South Florida state senators went public Tuesday to acknowledge their extramarital affair as the Florida Legislature convened under a cloud of sexual impropriety that has distracted lawmakers for months.

Their statement came after a website posted video purporting to show state Sen. Anitere Flores, R-Miami, entering and leaving an apartment rented by Senate Minority Leader Oscar Braynon, D-Miami Gardens.

Flores was rumored to be considering a run for Mayor of Miami this year. Miami is a heavily Democrat city. It is unknown if Flores’ affair will harm or hurt her chances of being elected Mayor. It is unlikely she would win a Republican primary.

  1. I don’t personally buy many new firearms. I think the last new production firearm I purchased was a Glock 36, and that was in, oh, 2011? Since then, out of everything I’ve purchased, think the newest firearm I’ve purchased was made in 1940, and old Mauser that was bubba-fied by someone doing a bogus sporterization, which I shall rescue from a future as a bubba-fied rifle. Aside from that, I think I got a 1903A3 from 1944 in a swap, a Sharps from 1872 or so, some older shotguns (ie, pre-WWI).

What I see of the quality of modern firearms that come through my shop, however, leaves me wholly unimpressed. That’s not news to regular readers here. But it is my ability to see the quality in modern firearms that other people bring me that informs my buying decisions to buy older, quality firearm instead of new firearms.

  2. I have a beautiful wife and beautiful children which I drive down my beautiful street in my beautiful car to my beautiful home. Why then, would I settle for ugly firearms? For the love of aesthetics, Glock and Kel-Tec are off the table for me.

P.S.: Glock gets an extra strike against them for reasons mentioned by Dog of War, above. The culture surrounding them is abhorrent. Glocktards make us all look bad. I’m surprised each Glock doesn’t come with a free Tapout T-shirt (size small only) and some sort of voucher for a tribal tattoo.

  3. Hi-Point.

I don’t need a handgun with a slide that weighs as much as some other entire handguns… and HAS to.

There’s a reason why there have been almost no commercially successful full power blowback handguns.

  4. “How many LEGISLATORS have said one thing on the campaign trail or in some fundraiser, and done another in office on RKBA issues?” – Fixed that for you.

I would say I have been lied-to by many more men than women. There are plenty of A-holes or both gender.

  5. I buy used from any brand if it’s cheap enuff. New production guns are so cut corner innovative they’ve turned into junk. Quality cost money, do I want a junk firearm, or no firearm at all?

  6. Like I said in the earlier article: if you buy a gun by a blacklisted company but get it used, they’re not going to make more money.
Think of it this way: Nazis were scum – we all agree on that. But how many of you would pass up a wartime Luger pistol? Or Mauser rifle? Quality is really hard to argue against.
As for the knives, I figure he’s just showing off the selection he rotates from day to day.

    • Well, I’ll put it this way – for all that Luger ‘quality’, no way in hell would I ever EDC that gun. I certainly wouldn’t kick it out of bed (gunsafe), but I wouldn’t EDC it.

      Speaking of EDC…

This loadout looks familiar, especially that green skinner.

Was this a repeat ECD loadout?

  7. I carry two knives and a multitool. One knife I use regularly, one was a gift I gave my father that I got back when he died, and the multitool has its uses (though I rarely cut anything with it). It’s not too hard to imagine a purpose for a fourth one – particularly if it’s suited for self defense.

She and her children must go back.

  9. Attention everyone: I hate airsoft guns. Why? Because the world is full of dip$hts who insist on opening the boxes and packages “to see what it looks like”. Here, I’ll spoil it for you, “IT LOOKS JUST LIKE IT’S PHOTOGRAPH ON THE BOX!”
Gawd, I hate cleaning up that aisle…

  10. This gun or the stock KS-12 have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the Kalashnikov Concern. Kalashnikov USA is COMPLETELY UNRELATED to the Russian firm and is not allowed (due to sanctions) to have ANY DEALINGS with them. Kalashnikov Concern is not very happy about them using the Kalashnikov name either, but can’t really do anything about it.

Anyway, I’ve been very happy with my Vepr-12. It’s been 100% reliable with the ammo it’s designed for (3+ dr, full-powered loads). The straight insert mags and last round bolt-hold-open with a bolt release button, make it far superior to older style Saiga-12s that this is based on. In addition, the built quality, fit and finish, are all clearly superior to those Saigas. I can run it almost as fast as I can an AR. I have it nicely customized to my needs too. IMO, it’s probably the best semi-auto shotgun on the market. Too bad it’s also been banned from further importation now.

  11. Being an FFL who fills out NFA forms all the time for customers, I find this system to be pretty efficient. I can fill out forms, attach photos, print, sign, AND do fingerprints in about 20 minutes, and have yet to have one kicked back. I don’t know what the hell this guy is talking about – most of it sounds like “operator error”.

My only gripe about the system is that it has no provision to electronically attach a photo before printing; but even that isn’t very valid – I save it as a PDF and attach a photo using Adobe Acrobat Pro before printing. I haven’t manually filled out a PDF in many months, and for good reason.

  12. I hate Weatherby with a passion. I read an article and Roys son or grandson, whoever runs it, says he would move from Commyfornia but the employees keep them there. I know factories that pay to movie families half way across the county. My wife’s friend had to move to South Carolina from Arkansas or loose his job. Your paying the people that hate you with tax money. Move to gun friendly southern states. Weatherby rifles are fine rifles, I use to have one but not anymore. Springfield, Rock Island, Kimber, etc, they’re all hipocrites. The only quality issues I’ve had are with a 709 Taurus, the front sight never would stay set, and a Glock 22 went through 3 extractors in 6-8 weeks. 3 strikes and your out. I don’t like Remington but I don’t know why, maybe just a Winchester guy?

  13. I’m definitely not a Glock guy (no offense to aficionados) but that said, a lot of so call “made in Germany” or even USA are assembly there from parts made in other countries like Philippines, Turkey or China… Hard to find but very true
