At a political event over the weekend, Governor Ron DeSantis verbally pledged his support for Constitutional Carry if the Florida Legislature sends the bill to his desk for his signature.
“We’re thrilled that Governor DeSantis has pledged his support for Constitutional Carry – now the legislature must act swiftly, pass Constitutional Carry through both chambers, and get it to Governor DeSantis as soon as possible,” said Matt Collins, Director of Legislation for Florida Gun Rights.
During a reception the Florida GOP held at the Governor’s Mansion on Friday, December 3rd, Matt Collins was able to speak directly with Governor DeSantis, asking if he’d sign Constitutional Carry into law.
Constitutional Carry is the basic principle that if you are legally eligible to possess a firearm, you should be able to carry that weapon openly or concealed, for self-defense, without having to obtain government “permission.”
21 states have adopted Constitutional Carry, including 5 states just this year, making it one of hottest pro-gun issues of the last decade.
“There’s no excuse for the Florida Legislature to delay the passage of HB 103, Constitutional Carry. With Gov. DeSantis on board, and self-proclaimed pro-gun Republicans in control of both chambers, law-abiding gun owners in Florida deserve to see their elected officials restore gun rights in 2022.” concluded Collins.
Florida Gun Rights considers this issue a legislative priority, will be tracking this bill during the 2022 legislative session and expects all pro-gun members of the state legislature to co-sponsor and support HB 103.

And while we are on the topic of Florida’s tourism-industrial complex–it will never allow open carry except in wilderness areas where tourists will never see it.
They might allow constitutional carry before they would support open carry, no permits as long as you keep it hidden where the tourists don’t see it. But I would expect this to die in a committee somewhere convenient so republicrats don’t have to vote on it.
With Florida’s waiting periods on all gun purchases you would probably still want to have the permit, plus reciprocity with other states if you travel.

The only things “constitutional carry” does is remove the requirement to train and buy a license. All of the other requirements of a concealed carry license (e.g. clean criminal record) apply to “constitutional carry”.

Certain convicted criminals are not legally allowed to possess a firearm by Federal and State Laws. Your copy and paste is inaccurate.

Several States have a State Guard, this is no different than other States like New York who maintains a State Guard as well. Nowhere in the history of these State Guards have they been used as you suggest. New York has even activated and used it’s State Guard recently as other States have.

Rhode Island and New Mexico have the highest percentage of ICU occupancy for Covid. Johns Hopkins University shows that states such as Vermont, Iowa, Rhode Island, West Virginia and Kansas are all seeing a spike in COVID-19 cases. Florida wasn’t even mentioned in the critical mass status for ICU’s. Some places are R and some D. Looking at the issue from a County level you will find Covid doesn’t discriminate by Party affiliation.

We have a robust immigration system. We accept many people from many places. We have some requirements, not be of a character that is criminal, not be diseased ( unless being taken to certain institutions for treatment ) and complete the process to enter the US legally.

Did you know New York State, Connecticut, California and many left leaning States have a State Guard? Georgia, Mississippi and Indiana do too. In my county in 2020, our Sheriff stepped down and I reached out to the two Republican front runners and the leading Democrat and asked them if they would declare our county a 2A sanctuary.

Good! The ‘bad’ guys already carry w/o a permit, so why not allow the ‘good’ guys to carry? ‘Gun control’ laws are a joke. They only hamper law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves and their families. Criminals couldn’t care less about ‘gun control’ laws or any other law — that’s why they are called criminals.
Perhaps we should demand a government permit to be allowed to post on sites like this, or post on Twitter. Perhaps we should demand permits to have children, get jobs, own property, or travel more than walking distance from our homes. Makes as much sense as demanding we get a permit to own, purchase, or carry a gun.
As to the claims of a permit mandates training, etc. How many of the punks and thugs in the hood or trailer court bothered to get a permit? Or any training? As with my current home state, the LEO and Sherriff’s organizations support permits. for a couple simple reasons. The current system of permits in Al. puts the fee into the local county Sherriff’s coffers. In a few municipalities, that money goes into the local PD. Next, is the use of the add on charge of carrying without a permit. Confiscate the weapon, charge a nice fat fine, which also is a felony charge in many states, so the poor person now can’t even legally own a gun anymore. As it is in most of Europe, gun ownership is limited to the wealthy or well connected. Common citizen need not apply.Got to keep the peasants in their place.

Now you’re lying yet again, or more accurately, you’re unintentionally pushing more lies due to your ignorance. No, immigration did NOT fall 65% per that BBC graph. The graph specifically says admitted refugees were down 65%. Refugees account for a small sliver of our total immigration. You’re conflating the two as if it’s the same thing.
If you want to discuss refugee policy, that’s fine, but that isn’t what you said. Go back to the beginning of the conversation.
