As Jacob, who identifies himself as a chemistry professor, writes, “This is what I carry all the time. Lots of stuff hanging from my belt, but I use all my tools all the time. Well, except for the gun, which I’ve never used outside the range.” FYI, Jacob tells us he leaves the SIG at home during school hours. See all of his gear at Everyday Carry . . .
Home EDC for CCW Everyday Carry Pocket Dump of the Day – Jacob
That pouch looks similar to the one my dad kept in his office when he taught instrumentation. When I was a kid I’d make fun of him for it being the world’s largest pocket protector.
Nice to see there’s still some people who give absolutely no fucks what others think but rather go for practical application, oddball glances be damned.
Heck, as a physical chemistry professor, I’m already marked off by the rest of the world as deeply disturbed, so since I’m never going to be one of the “cool kids”, I stopped caring a long time ago (tenure helps, too).
Heh, my mom’s profession/major area of work made the other chemists uneasy.
“Disturbed” is in the eye of the beholder.
Suuuurre you don’t carry it to school… that’s very well-behaved of you.
Hmm. Black. Pink. Red. Magenta? I’m sensing a theme here.
yeah a gay one LOL
Found the 12 year old in the comments section
Hahaha. Back up piece is a pink SCCY
I wear red sneakers and a red patrol cap all the time as well, and I have a red backpack for my laptop when I need to move it out of my office for some reason.
The department secretary asked me one day if my favorite color is red. I replied that I wasn’t sure what gave her that idea and that my favorite color was chartreuse.
“I wear red sneakers and a red patrol cap all the time as well, and I have a red backpack for my laptop when I need to move it out of my office for some reason.”
There are some places it might be wise to never go with that color scheme.
You might be considered a ‘Blood’ and some ‘Crip’ wearing blue ‘colors’ may take offense at you being there… 😉
Considering that the town I live in has about 3000 people and hasn’t had a murder in probably 100 years, I’m not too worried about being mistaken for a Blood. Also, I’m an old fat white guy…
I have been looking hard at the P938 as my next purchase.
I’m very happy with the P238. I Like the single action trigger. It’s very light and very very concealable. I find it to be minute of bad guy accurate at 10 yards. I can typically shoot 3 inch groups at 10 yards with it if I pay attention, and I’m not the greatest marksman in the world.
I’ve shot one at my local range a couple of times. Very nice weapon. I have to use “crook of finger” to fire it comfortably because of the size of the P938, but I manage to shoot it decently at self-defense ranges. I like the P238 as well.
Sooo Walter White?
Recreational pharmaceuticals are the domain of the organic chemists. I am a physical inorganic chemist. My Ph.D. research involved watching paint dry and how the metal based pigments in them affect their long term stability.
They sold the project to me as “we have this nifty art conservation project, you get to work with and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art!”
“Recreational pharmaceuticals are the domain of the organic chemists. I am a physical inorganic chemist.”
Yeah, but the bench skills are usually transferable.
(Just another ‘lab rat’, stuck under a hotplate under a fumehood, ‘digesting’ like crazy…)
You assume I have lab skills…
“You assume I have lab skills…”
Ahhhhh. Silly me…
The everyday carry site identifies it as a 938, the 9 mm model
In the reply to Carrucan you call it a 238, the .380 model
Which is it?
Regardless, both are single action only 1911 style subcompacts
I love my 938 and use it for target practice as well as pocket and IWB carry
It has a fantastic trigger!
It’s a 238, I fixed it on everyday carry.
Long ago I took physical chemistry with a professor whose real job was high explosives research for the DoD. Hardest course I ever took. I envy you for getting through the entire distance. I recently bought a Sig P238 for the non-existent recoil and the great accuracy. Also love the fiber and tritium sights.
whoa, nice pistol.
