I’ve been waiting quite some time for Caracal to replace my carry gun. Regular readers will recall that I had a whole “Caracal C Held Hostage” thing going on. I’m pleased to announce that the series pegged-out at exactly 200 days. As of this morning, my Caracal C is free! Well, headed back to meet its maker, leaving behind its box-fresh brother. To make sure that the United Arab Emirates gunmaker’s trigger fix hadn’t ruined the 9mm’s sublime go-pedal, I asked Caracal to let me keep the old gun for a side-by-side comparo . . .
No problemo, as they say in Dubai. If anything the new gun’s trigger is a tiny bit crisper than the one that made me cray-cray in a good way. I’m just getting used to it again, but stacking three rounds on top of each other at five yards is pretty good shooting for Coke bottle bottom boy.
It’s official: you may send your C back with confidence. Or buy one warily when they become available again in stores. That is all.
Glad to know. I got a call this week from Caracal that they will be shipping my box for the replacement this week. I’ve lost track of how long it’s been since I called, but it’s been several months.
A lot of people more Arab than me would be livid at being compared to black people.
Yea that’s helpful, I called the guy out on the comment and now you want to apply it to blacks . Man the Internet sucks, people suck, they don’t even realize what they are saying or even worse they do and think it is acceptable.
Agreed. A lesson I need re-taught over and over, unfortunately. They do suck.
What was that old line about a member of a hated minority hating another member of a minority group?
Um, what has that to do with Caracal?
Edit: This is supposed to be a reply to إبليس, but the board insists on putting it here.
“Caracal C’s Trigger is Good-To-Go”
Yeah, you go first, buddy.
I feel as if I walked into a room right after someone farted real loud. If you’re going to delete the racist comment, you should probably delete all the responses and references to it, so those that come along later aren’t confused. None of the responses have any Caracal related comments in them, so you won’t lose anything by memory-holing them all.
Glad you finally got your gun back from purgatory.
It’s still a grenade with a two millisecond fuse.
Want to back that up somehow? If it’s been tested and verified as now being drop-safe, how is that an accurate statement?
If you’re referring to the single C that blew up in Pakistan, that was traced to some bad heat treating on a small batch out of AE. From what I’ve read, none of the affected range of serial numbers are believed to be in the US, and all were covered by the original recall.
Ahh. Alright, then. Last I knew, it was just “something that happens sometimes,” and the photos gave me the screaming heebie jeebies.
By the way, the one that swore me off the brand was over here.
I think I’ll stick to old Commie guns. They aren’t fancy, but the always work as expected…
Reply to self; that incident was in Pakistan.
It was forwarded to me by a friend, and I just presumed.
The excellent English should have alerted me to its foreign origin… 😉
Still haven’t seen a Caracal in person at my LGS here in WA state… sad.
Rented one pretty regular at West Coast Armory range in Bellevue before the recall.
Nice, thanks for the tip. I’m in Seattle, but next time I make it over to the eastside, maybe I’ll be able to check it out…
got my F QS yesterday.
feels great, looks great, I am sure it will shoot great.
Yeah, it shoots awesome when dropped, very accurate 😉 I kid, I kid.
And all these wannabe Glocks are better than a Glock exactly how?
Infinitely better trigger, lower bore axis…the rest is subjective. I like the feel better in my hand, and it has a shorter trigger reach which is very good for the stubby fingered like myself.
Caracal Quick Sights are fabulous. Standard Glock sights are just sights.
Which is why I put XS Big Dots on my Glock.
I don’t care. I want one!
Just waiting for my boxes for my F and C. Picking up a Glock 19 to tide me over until it’s returned.
My son bought a Savage Axis in .308 that came with a factory defect. From the time he called the Savage number to the time he had his rifle back fixed was 3 weeks. Apparently good customer service means different things in different parts of the world.
but how well does it photograph? when i get one i have to pose with it…
