With suppressors becoming more and more mainstream, the designers and pistol-smiths at Dan Wesson, a CZ-USA company, decided it was time to offer a suppressor-ready 1911. They also wanted a more tactically oriented 1911, with all the quality features standard on a Dan Wesson semi-automatic. The result is the sharp-looking DW Discretion, with a match-grade stainless barrel that’s both extended and threaded. But the craftsmen at Wesson’s didn’t stop there.
The Discretion is a standout in the Dan Wesson line with the great looking ported slide. The rail under the barrel allows for easy attachment of a light and/or laser, while the Discretion’s serrated trigger and competition-inspired hammer give it a look all its own.
The Discretion’s high tritium sights allow for sighting over the top of most pistol suppressors. The very rear of the slide is designed so that the slide can be racked on a belt if using the pistol one-handed.
The Discretion is available in both 9mm Luger and 45 ACP, with both models finished in DW Duty Black.

MSRP pretty much removes it from my neighborhood.
I have a Discretion. It is a good shooter and easily as good a fit as my Ed Brown and Les Baer. My only complaint is the “Duty Finish”. It’s not nearly as durable as Cerakote much less a DLP or Melonite.
A little spendy , but nice.
Looks sharp, but with that price tag it’s going to remain on a lot of store shelves. I’m all for paying for good quality but when there are a lot of equal firearms out there for less money, I’ll stick with those. I have a sig 1911 tacops and Springfield 1911 RO elite with a threaded barrel, they are both tac drivers, reliable, and durable and were less than half the cost. Just my 2 cents.
Having owned a Dan Wesson, Sig, and Springfield – the Sig and Springfield aren’t even in the same ballpark as a DW.
The DW is Nighthawk / Wilson quality for half the price. The slide to frame finish alone is unreal. No MIM parts.
And it’s not made by people who hate the second amendment (Springfield).

Yawn, wake me up when FB Radom Vis 35 is back in regular production. Anybody hear anything more about that project beyond the very limited 50 pistol 2018 production run?
It’s one sharp looking pistol, but I do get sort of a chuckle out of the “tactical” designation. Why port the slide, if the barrel isn’t ported? All those big holes do is let sand and grime in to jam up the action when you’re operating all tactically and crawling around on the ground. And you’re not going to add a ported barrel if your intent is to use a suppressor.
Reminds me of the factory aerodynamic and cooling enhancements (rear spoiler, chin spoilers, side engine bay vents, hood scoops) seen on cars that can’t even top 110 mph.

At that price I can’t even dream about owning one.
At that price I would not buy it if I was a zillionaire. Maybe I’m just nuts but to rack a pistol one handed you weren’t carrying it in the right condition or it malfunctioned and you hurt, either way racking one handed for me is better using front sight, whatever you racking on not going to foul the hammer. However at that point in an altercation probably better to go for the backup, or just throw it at the assailant one piece at a time.
I was actually considering a DW Discretion in the spring of ’18, came across a NOS/NIB Para Ordnance Expert 14.45 for around 1/3 the price, wish it was a Black Ops, but the 14.45 scratched my 1911 itch.
DW makes some top quality 1911s though, no molded in metal parts makes for a pricey gun.
