The CZ 805 BREN is the centerpiece of the Czech Republic’s “Soldier of 21st Century” Project. It’s a “unified, modular weapon system enabling accommodation of additional devices with the prospect of further improvements,” upi.com reports. In other words, the gun can fire both 7.62 x 39mm and NATO standard 5.56 x 45mm cartridges. How’s that? Glad you asked. The “CZ 805 features quick-change barrels . . . to change calibers and barrel lengths according to the mission profile,” worldguns.ru reports. “The basic action uses fairy [sic] common piston-operated gas action with manual gas regulator, and a rotating bolt locking. For each proposed caliber, there is a separate bolt with appropriate dimensions.” Not to mention 6.8×43 Rem SPC, ’cause that possibility hasn’t been mentioned in some time. If you’re thinking that the CZ 805 BREN is FN SCAR clone, to paraphrase the B52s, WELL IT ISN’T! Much. The first BREN guns get Czeched-out by the troops in July.

“The basic action uses fairy common piston-operated gas action with manual gas regulator, and a rotating bolt locking. ”

Let’s start the ball rolling with “I thought fairies couldn’t handle cold iron?”

  2. Just world up grade small arms US still useing rifle that gas action has change for better sent came out few decade ago. Buy way has any one notices that world arms that have used m-16 gas system are now go way from it use better newer shooting systems. This fact show up more than ever in eurpen counrtys. Even Asian counrty go there owen way from m-16. I think time US takes hard look out there see what other counrty are not see m-16 m4.

    • The 805 has a modular magwell and can be configured for use with either G36 or AR magazines.

Additionally, the production version has a more robust redesigned stock compared to the one in the above photo.

  3. Pretty cool looking gun, very similar to SCAR but with a few changes. I like the multi-cal option and magwell changeability. 7lbs 14oz with a 14-in barrel seems a little hefty though.

  4. When do we get a US made, semi-auto version? That is all we care about. CZ-USA, the ball is in your court.
