An excerpt from another state-of-the-start address from a state where freedom’s just another word for what they want you to lose. If you know what I mean.

  1. BOHICA

Problem in NorthEast states is that much of the Brady/DiFi agenda has already been implemented. So since they must “do something”, only the most draconian options are left.

  2. It is not about freedom it is Protecting our Children. The big reason you don’t want Teachers having that tool is those like you have demonized anyone who has a firearm on their hip. If the Teachers all start carrying the one tool that can protect our children you will not be able to demonize anyone with a firearm anymore. You don’t give a Darn about the CHILDREN! You only care about your agenda and will demonize anyone who goes against your agenda!

    • Almost there Gary, now take the red pill. People like him depend on Adam Lanza’s. Dead kids are how he gets paid. How he exercises his will to power.

    • You can’t possible be that crazy. You think the answer is for every teacher to carry a gun?????? Thats what this country is becoming. Your plea for the children is so lame. Nobody demonizes Anyone with a gun. You just did the same thing with your remarks about the children.

  3. Freedom is standing up in front of cameras & blabbering belicose rhetoric to the braindead zombies in the audiance. Are there more ass hats to go, or was this it, Randy

  4. So owning a gun is not freedom what in your fascist crap for brain idea what freedom is? Are all of you New Englander so dumb to believe gun are not freedom and bowing to a Nazi like this jerk or Adolf Coumo is? What is wrong with you idiots!

    • I’m a peaceful man and magnanimous to the poor, forgiving to the inconstant, but your attack on New England, Sir, has gone too far! New Hampshire has spectacular (lack of) gun laws, a mirror of their decent and independent denizens. Vermont, in its own way, comfortably accomodates self defense arms, the nature-given right of self-defence. Massachusetts, you meant to say, not New England. Massachusetts is a complex case, a hard nut to crack. They dither in a confusion of historical fact and accumulated prejudice, a legacy that ever renews itself:
“Boston, dear Boston, the land of the bean and the cod
Where the Cabots speak only to the Lodges,
and the Lodges speak only to God”
The upper sort lacked all respect for the yeoman farmers to the west, often enough these having broken into minor rebellions against their Boston bankers (See Writings of John Adams). Then the Irish came to Boston. To ice the cake of mutual distrust southern blacks came north to the factories. This situation, you would think, should ameliorate over time? No. The swelling hot houses of Academics decided that in profile they looked much like Cabots, and in their omniscience presumably resembled god. Every damned person in Massachusetts is, to some other group, an oppressor or a suspiciously well-spoken climber from some distrusted lower order. Gun laws? Be a Cabot or a prince of the Irish Ascendency. You’ll get a permit in Boston to actually carry the sidearm you bought. Or be a cop. Or live in the right borough west out. There’s a good fellow, Ralph, tell us a bit more about yourself, would you? Laugh.

      • There’s a good fellow, Ralph, tell us a bit more about yourself, would you?

No. But I’ll tell you about MA. Like IL, it’s two states. Boston and environs is populated by and led by left-wing Democrat morons. The rest of the Commonwealth is populated and led by slightly less left-wing Democrat morons. So basically the whole place is awash in stupid.

    • Lance, dude, all of New England isn’t like RI, MA, & CT where they are afraid of your gun. VT, NH & ME have more liberal, (re: less restrictive) gun laws.

    • Lance your rediculous comments show your waaaay dummer than they are. Go read the 2nd amendment because you clearly never have. Unless your in a malita there is Nothing in the constitution guarantees the right to own a gun

  5. Freedom is restrictions on law-abiding, mentally healthy citizens. He probably doesn’t understand the irony. It’s straight up Orwellian. “WAR IS PEACE, FREEDOM IS SLAVERY, IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH”

    • The guy must have read 1984 and creamed his pants thinking about the power he could have.

People with his level of ignorance always astound me with how they’ve survived this long.

  6. Being gunned down with no ability to defend yourself is freedom

“We have always been at war with Eastasia, Winston”

  7. Dear Dan Malloy,

Before leaving Connecticut, I didnt vote for you. My one regret was not leaving sooner.

    -Me

    • RI, MA & CT are as bad as NY, NJ, CA & IL with their moronic gun laws. Alaska has the most liberal (re: less restrictive) gun laws and we don’t read about daily cowboy shoot outs in Anchorage, Fairbanks or Juneau as Piers Moron, oops, I mean Morgan would have us believe.

  8. Freedom means having the ability to keep weapons for youself and take them from others. That is freedoom to this guy and to others in that room – and sadly many in America.

  9. So CT actually (s)elected a mentally retarded douchebag for a governor??

    No really: http://athome.readinghorizons.com/community/blog/connecticut-governor-and-his-dyslexia-struggles/

This guy exhibits classic abused child who becomes a CPS worker or shrink… or a serial killer: paranoia of suspecting everyone is out to get him, perpetual compensatory posture, pre-emptive bloviating in fear someone would ridicule him first (hey, some bullied kids become congenial self-deprecating comics, others become statist assholes to return the favor to his childhood bullies from the seat of the tax-theft throne).

Why do these public SERVANTS delude it’s their job to tell how his own employers should behave or live? Arrogant puke

    • Connecticut was simply following New York (since the rich C’s mostly work there) who’d tried out a blind arbitrator of left-wing factional disputes (over ghost-jobs distribution, for example), and thought it worked rather well. Blind, dyslexic, it’s a bit the same. None of it affects Greenwich much, though, because their only issue is taxes, and they have answers for that, Grand Cayman and Carried Interest. They probably do know the rest of Connecticut is there, vaguely.

  10. …my gosh…what a group of paid-off, insincere shills these people are….and traitors….if I was a Conn. citizen I be demanding his removal from office, treason charges and when convicted…hang the ass-hat traitor…..

  11. I live in CT and I am a high school teacher. My friends have been going to those children’s funerals. I listened to this speech tonight, driving my elementary school age daughters home. Freedom is … getting gunned down at work or school? Thanks Malloy. That just made me sick to my stomach. I can’t write my legislators fast enough.

    • Geez, Gov. Malloy, no, freedom is not a handgun on the hip of every teacher. Freedom is not knowing who, and how many teachers and school custodians are armed. I believe if teachers and other school staff had the legal right to have a handgun in school that would give the bad guys something to consider before planning their next shoot out. In other words, they might get shot before they accomplish whatever perverted mission they set out to accomplish.

  12. “Freedom is Not a Handgun on the Hip of Every Teacher”

    I agree.

Freedom is a handgun on the hip of every teacher who wants to carry a handgun.

    • Make carry training, a gun, and 172 1/2 days of actual carrying a qualification for a 4% boost on contract wages and I’ll show you a state full of teachers that carry. Engrave each gun with “Kill the Rich” and perhaps 3% would be effective inducement.

      • In CA the unions would jump on that like a hobo on a hot dog, a politician on a ten dollar bill, …

        • “Like a hobo on a hotdog”: I knew there was a reason I frequently return to this site. That phrase is going into my idiom today!

    • Dude, have you been in a school lately? Bring up carrying a gun to teachers, at least 95% will whine up so quick it will make your head spin. Yes, whine. “I’m NOT carrying a GUN!!!!!!”

      • Im with Joke & Dagger, especially regarding teachers in Connecticut. I had one teacher that preached Michael Moore and we had to watch Bowling For Columbine as a project.

DISCLAIMER! I know that not ALL teachers are whiney anti-gun, bleeding hearts so nothing personal eh?

        • My wife’s a teacher, 3rd Grade. Sooooo the Christmas party this year was a subdued. Guess what the topic of conversation was on Dec 21st (day of the party)? Not trying to antangonize or inflame open wounds, I tried to interject a little food for thought, concealed carry for teachers, I was met with almost universal shock. Almost I say because out of the two dozen or so teachers I talked to, exactly two said they loved the idea and asked how they could get certified (I am a LEO so I guess they thought I could point them in the right direction). You can guess what my answer was.

Point being, most teachers will not want this, my wife included (she tolerates my gun habit only because I say I could pick up another hobby like, gambling or going to strip clubs instead). But not all teachers need to carry, just one or two and that is the threat that any future gunman has to account for. He doesn’t know which one or even how many are carrying. Just to know that that school has armed teachers, ready to defend it.

    • Right on, Fickster. And not knowing who and how many of the staff are armed will certainly give the whackos pause.

  13. Apparently his objections are to the “every teacher” idea (too many pay supplements) and to “a guard outside every classroom.” This last obviously reflects budget problems. (Guards just at the doors?) So he’s left the door open, eh?

    • I’m happy with the one armed security officer (military veteran) we just hired at my kid’s private parochial school. Us parents aren’t asking our teachers to carry. Get a real operator. Our kids are worth it. This Progressive crap just further leaves their kids as sitting ducks for the next wacko. Not ours. Actions, not words.

  14. http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/28-12-2012/123335-americans_guns-0/

    A warning from Russia.

The excuse that people will start shooting each other is also plain and silly. So it is our politicians saying that our society is full of incapable adolescents who can never be trusted? Then, please explain how we can trust them or the police, who themselves grew up and came from the same culture?

No it is about power and a total power over the people. There is a lot of desire to bad mouth the Tsar, particularly by the Communists, who claim he was a tyrant, and yet under him we were armed and under the progressives disarmed. Do not be fooled by a belief that progressives, leftists hate guns. Oh, no, they do not. What they hate is guns in the hands of those who are not marching in lock step of their ideology. They hate guns in the hands of those who think for themselves and do not obey without question. They hate guns in those whom they have slated for a barrel to the back of the ear.

So, do not fall for the false promises and do not extinguish the light that is left to allow humanity a measure of self respect.

    • Yes, and the Russians have the experience to back-up what they say about gun control. It wasn’t until after the Bolsheviks/Communists took over and started rounding up all the personal weapons that they really began abusing the populace. Look at what Stalin to the Ukrane in the early 1930’s.

  15. I’m a parent and I want my daughter safe. When I found out that the SWAT team was at her school after the Sandy Hook shooting, I was happy. Funny how a lot of people with guns at the school made me able to work while the thought of no one having a gun made me nervous. Then again what do I know, I just studied criminology in college.

  16. Right Gov’nor…. I suppose you want our kids protected by the Sugar Plum Fairy riding around on a Unicorn?

In what alternate universe do these people live? Hundreds of schools around the country are protected by armed guards or police…… Personally, I’d be grateful for a qualified, armed teacher!

    • Geez, in GA there are “School Resource Officers”. In other words cops with guns, badges, handcuffs, police cars and all the paraphenalia that go with being a cop. And Guv, no one challenges the cost for the officer, go figure.

  17. While freedom may not be a handgun on the hip……it very well could be a well placed AR/AK in a nearby locker for a few proficiently trained school personnel.
After all, it only took………TWENTY EFFING MINUTES……..to reach the er, uh, cleanup sight (that used to be a classroom full of six year olds). Nice job police!!!!
    Liberalism is a mental disorder.

  18. Trenton, Newark, and Camden NJ – they have many things in common. Unfortunately poverty and crime are two of those things. Due to the realities of life in their communities, these cities ALREADY HAVE armed police in their schools. As far as I can tell, the only people opposed to their presence are the drug dealers and the gang-bangers.

The problem here is not pro-gun VS anti-gun. The problem is local control VS State and Federal control over security policies that need to be dictated by the unique circumstances in each community.

Armed security in schools is a policy decision best left to local communities, schools and governments. The best thing the State and Federal government can do on this topic is get out of the way.

  19. So basically he’s ok with unarmed teachers and kids being gunned down with no recourse but to wait 20 minutes for the police to arrive all the while the law of the land prevents all potentially nearby CCW good guys from helping out with threats of endless litigation.

I’m so happy our laws make sense serve the greater good…

  20. I will take a risk at sounding like a broken record because in times like this maybe it does not matter

If you are in CT, please support the CCDL. It is 100% volunteer organization its membership fees are $0. If you are not in CT, please offer up a donation via paypal link to support the organization to fight this fight because CT feels it is ground zero and has some sick notion it must lead by example for an event that no law could have stopped.

    http://www.ccdl.us/

If for some reason you do not want to support the CCDL, please support the other large pro-2a orgainzation

    Connecticut Sportsmen and Shooter
    http://ctsas.wordpress.com/

These organizations will be on the ground fighting against these stupid laws.

Please support this fight and set an example that you cannot just run over the rights of lawfull people.

  21. No…but freedom is the right for a teacher to chose whether they want to carry a weapon or not! What an elitist, controlling, jerk. I certainly will never live in the state of my birth again.

  22. One more example of how Malloy is out of touch:

Newtown schools chief urges continued police guard

    Published : Thursday, 10 Jan 2013, 7:19 AM EST

NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) — Newtown’s schools superintendent is urging an indefinite police presence at the district’s schools to allay fears among parents and children about gun violence.

The News Times reports that Superintendent Janet Robinson says children have not ventured outside school for recess because of anxiety.

The Sandy Hook Elementary School, where 20 children and six educators were fatally shot by a gunman on Dec. 14, remains closed. Students and staff are using a school in neighboring Monroe.

Parent Amy Roman has asked the Police Commission and Board of Education to continue to provide two police officers at each of the district’s six schools. Newtown’s Police Department is supplemented by officers from other departments.

School officials say they’ve received nearly 300 emails, many of them voicing concern about long-term security and a police presence.

  23. The Honorable Dannel P. Malloy
    Governor of Connecticut
    210 Capitol Avenue
    Hartford, CT 06106

    Governor Malloy,

In viewing the recent address you made to the residents of our State, I felt I must take the time to comment.
You state that “Freedom is not a gun on the hip of every teacher”. Freedom IS, however, the Right for me to do so, if I choose. By enacting further restrictions on my Rights ensured by our Constitution, you help no one.
I will tell you that I appreciate the difficult times you and your staff faced during recent events. The compassion you showed to those who lost loved ones was admirable. I will also say, however, that I find it hypocritical that at no time during any of your travels were you or your staff without a strong and visible presence of security. These are people that I respect, and know personally, but as a typical Citizen of Connecticut do not enjoy the protection of. Were my three children, or my wife, or my neighbors afforded such a barrier of security, I would not feel threatened by the evils that face us by a small segment of our society. That, however, is not the case.
Our State currently has some of the strongest laws concerning firearms in the Country. This, sadly, did nothing to protect those who died. You, sir, are wise enough to realize that criminals, by definition, are lawless. They pay no mind to rules of law, to areas of safety, nor to limitation placed by any well intentioned but ineffectual form of legislation. Ironically, the only ones who do heed these laws are those individuals now who DO NOT place our innocents at risk. Enacting superficial laws parsing the Rights of the many helps no one.
If your true intention is to do your best to protect the Citizens of our State, then I stand with you. Do so by ensuring that those individuals that need help receive it. Insist that those that are a grave risk are segregated. Ensure that those that choose to defy our current laws are prosecuted to the fullest extent. Admit that a presence of authority at our schools is a positive action. We as a State have spent so much in areas that affect so many less important issues; I cannot fathom this not becoming a priority.
What you must resist is the temptation to castigate those and restrict the liberties of the portion of our population that understand our responsibilities – and Rights – as gun owners. Do not attempt to assuage the fears of society by limiting their afforded freedoms and Rights. We as a people are better than that. My hope is that you, as a leader, are so as well.
