“The only way anything is ever going to happen on gun control is with the support of Republicans, especially in the House, and that is difficult to see happening any time soon.” – Jim Manley in Clinton makes gun control a key issue, but quick action unlikely [via cnn.com]

  1. “…but quick action unlikely”

So they think action is likely, just not quickly.

Vote them *all* out, it’s the only way to save what’s left of this country.

  2. She’s going to move on this issue day one. Unless the FBI finally can derail her. None of the TLA want her in charge.

    • You can bet the house Shillary will sign an Executive Order (legal or not) regarding “reasonable gun safety” on day one. Obama couldn’t close Gitmo, but this will be a signature issue for her.

      • She can sign it, and I can ignore it. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe in the history of our country, there has never been a single person either fined or imprisoned for violating an executive order. If she does that, it will mean nothing aside from, again, confirming she is an idiot.

    • The Feebs are not going to derail her a week before the election. Short of video of her stabbing Bill and his latest fling to death airing on the nightly news (which I honestly do wonder if they’d even run) that can’t and won’t happen.

Some faction of the people who actually run this sh1t are in a power play, and this is one of their levers to steer Hillary with if she ends up back in the White House. The Feebies are not some independent agency of watchdogs carefully guarding the freedom of the American people, unless you’re pirating DVDs or something. Just like the IRS and CIA, they’re the tools used by those who have influence to make things happen. Putting the D Presidential nominee in cuffs is not a matter of “law”, it’s a matter of optics, influence, favors, and a very real concern for what would happen to the country.

I’d love to see her hooked and booked, but the days of independent government agencies, serving the public interest are long behind us – if they ever existed at all. They exist to preserve the visible power structure, be influenced by various outside shot-callers, and like any organism, stay alive and get bigger.

We’ve behaved as the Romans for the last 50-ish years. The outcome is just as predictable.

        • Even pretending this were all on the up-and-up, Comey would have to decide to have Clinton arrested, which might not even be mentioned by the MSM, and she might make it inside the building before an army of lawyers arrives to get her released. Since the DoJ has already said they won’t prosecute, all he’s accomplished is making a powerful enemy, and showing that he will go into battle, having lost before it began. Not to mention the effects on the election..

She could have a Parkinson’s fit in the middle of a speech and the MSM would dutifully turn it’s cameras off, and help her sell a concocted story about pneumonia or some such.

        • I kinda thought that Comey got his revenge in the press conference by enumerating how guilty Clinton was, and then alluding to the DoJ not being willing to prosecute.

So many lies and potential angles in this sht show, it’s impossible to figure anymore.

        • Although Justice is correct that Comey’s announcement could have an effect on the election, Justice was placed in a classic catch-22. If it says nothing, then it looks like the e-mail scandal has legs, and if they shut Comey down, it sounds like a cover-up of illegal activity by Hellary. Either way, Hellery is “damaged” (to put politely). And if there is ANY classified information in any of the e-mails on Wiener’s phone, then she has committed a federal crime. On top of that, it seems to me that these e-mails may have originated from her private server, and may not have been previously disclosed, and if my assumption is correct, it will be difficult to avoid a perjury charge

        • 16V, I agree. Not just in the news conference, but later testifying before Congress, he made it very clear how guilty she was, and that she should be prosecuted. At the end of that, when he said she would not be prosecuted, it did not leave much to the imagination as to “why?”

      • “We’ve behaved as the Romans for the last 50-ish years. The outcome is just as predictable.”

The Romans lasted from the founding of the city in 753 BC until the last Roman Emperor died defending Constantinople from the Muslims in 1453 AD. So I hope you’re right and America also lasts 2206 years.

  3. this occurred to me as I read this
    The purpose of background checks:
Making the ownership of certain items for certain people, aginast the law, where those people are on a list of people who have already shown that they are unwilling to follow the law.

    • Hillary has shown she cannot follow the law, lies about following the law, relays she didn’t mean not to follow the law then gets a pass. Every word out of her mouth is either a lie or a group of words to support a lie.

    • All true. But convicts know how to game the system. As the President said, it is easier to buy an illegal firearm in the hood than it is to buy a book. Thus, back ground checks to not prevent criminals from obtaining firearms.

  4. Ech …and in Illinois we got “independent” Republtard Bob Dold running on “common sense”gun control and pro baby murder. Same as Mark RINO Kirk. If the idiot elephant party loses both senate & house there’ll be hell to pay?

  5. I, like many, don’t take comfort in this since 1) I don’t trust that the Republicans will do the right thing all the time, and 2) the Dems managed to pass Obamacare without a single Republican vote. All it takes is a single two year election cycle where the Dems control both houses and the Presidency and anything can happen. Anything.

    • “All it takes is a single two year election cycle where the Dems control both houses and the Presidency and anything can happen.”

True, also the reverse, Reps hold both houses now, put Trump in the WH and it would at least be *possible* to repeal NFA by 4 years out. Just imagine. And to have a SCOTUS which would toss any additional infringement for 40 years. But, hey, there’s an 11-year-old tape of a locker room bullshit conversation with a *businessman*, not politician, so we should just throw our freedoms away, that’ll teach him!

      Vote Trump.

  6. Not much better since almost are in safe districts. Let’s leave the inchoate rage to the other side.

  7. What’s going to stop her from issuing an executive order which will ultimately be upheld by a SCOTUS her appointments tilted to the left?

  8. Most political experts claim the Republicans will lose both the House and the Senate giving a green light to Hitlery Clinton not only to ban almost all modern weapons but confiscate and melt them down as well. The Peoples Republic of California has already passed this law as well as an upcoming law making it expensive and difficult to purchase ammunition as well. The power to tax is the power to destroy.

The Massachusetts Attorney General with a wave of the hand this summer banned all semi-auto weapons which was totally illegal. How? She said she re-interpreted a decade old gun law that did no such thing. She claimed “I have got the power”. It looks like she does and you people thought you lived in a Democracy. Guess again.

The disingenuous corrupt Supreme Court voted this summer that the ban on modern weapons after Sandy Hook was completely legal giving the States the green light to finally ban any and all weapons at will

The lower Courts in the Peoples Republic of California ruled this summer that concealed carry is not a right as it is a threat to “The Power Elite” (which is them) and a threat to the Jack Booted Storm Troopers that protect them. The also refused to rule on “open carry” letting all previous open carry ban laws stand effectively trashing the right to self defense and Second Amendment Rights.
