“Bird Yard” sends us his “EDC” for today’s Everyday Carry Pocket Dump.

He works for the National Park Service and lets us know this is his off-work carry.  Somehow I doubt the National Park Service wants its staff to carry for personal defense.  Which, frankly, sucks.  They have every right to defend themselves from attack as anyone else!

B.Y. begins with a GLOCK 17.  That’s a full-sized duty gun for anyone not so familiar with the GLOCK numbering for common 9mm pistolas.  Full size as in really full size.  With two spare magazines.  Jesus, that’s a lot of bubble gum.

He carries his Gat in a Blackhawk IWB rig.  Good deal.  That’s a lot of Roscoe to conceal and IWB (inside the waistband) is certainly a good way to hide a lot of gun.  Problem is that grip is so darn long that it protrudes significantly when I wear mine.  But then again, I only weigh 185 pounds soaking wet.

Not sure why he carries a GoPro on a daily basis.  That’s a new one on me.  And it’s probably a good thing he has that 3V Sling Bag for the stuff like the GoPro, the earphones/earbuds and other miscellaneous stuff.

  1. US Park Police carry both on and off duty. Got a friend who’s getting ready to retire from there soon. He’s a canine officer. Has all the toys including a take home SUV for the pooch.

      • True. Could be a civilian with a just a CCW employed by the NPS. I just mentioned it because the author stated that he doubts the NPS wants its staff to carry for personal defense. US Park Police does. It falls under the Dept. of Interior and is dialed in for pretty much any scenario.

  2. I used and abused this sling bag for 1.5 years, and material, zippers and stiching has held up well. There’s pal webbing also on the sides and top (on the main strap). But the more molle attachments the more one stands out. An ipad is the largest that will fit in the main compartment. If you need a small sling, that’s ambedextrious, wont break the bank, this is the one to get.

    • unless they have changed their policy, 3v gear will replace their bags if they give out…had one of those for 2 years at least…not a bad (cheap) bag for the price…

  3. Don’t think you want to “plink” a bear or a Bigfoot with a Glock 17….If the chips are down….lol….You’d think the duty pistol would be minimum a 10mm Glock or .357 magnum…Or a .44 magnum revolver and up…
