“If my research convinces me of anything,” [John R. Lott Jr.] said, “it’s that you’re going to get the biggest reduction in crime if the people who are most likely victims of violent crime, predominantly poor Blacks, are the ones who are getting the permits.”

In Dallas, there has been a rise in the number of homicides deemed to be justifiable, such as those conducted in self-defense, even as overall shootings have declined from last year’s high levels.

“We’ve had justifiable shootings where potential victims have defended themselves,” said the Dallas police chief, Eddie Garcia. “It cuts both ways.”

Last October in Port Arthur, Texas, a man with a handgun, who had a license, saw two armed robbers at a Church’s Chicken and fired through the drive-through window, fatally striking one of the men and wounding the other. His actions were praised by the local district attorney.

Michael Mata, the president of the local police union in Dallas, said that he and his fellow officers had seen no increase in violent crime tied to the new permitless carry law, though there were “absolutely” more guns on the street.

Sheriff David Soward of Atascosa County, a rural area south of San Antonio, said he had also seen no apparent increase in shootings. “Only a small percentage of people actually take advantage of the law,” he said.

  1. When the DA goes woke and the people can carry the natural result is more dead criminals. Is this another form of natural selection?

  2. Removing a punitive and costly burden on the exercising of ones rights is, in theory, what the lefties are all about, right? Especially one that mostly affects poorer people without means.

But gunz so it’s all totally different for some reason.

    • Tyranny takes many forms. This is but one.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be “cured” against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.” C.S. Lewis

      • I love this quote, and I share it myself from time to time, but I usually stop after “their own conscience.”

Lewis was a brilliant man, and by all accounts a man of the Christian faith, but he drops the ball when he supposes that the tyrants “may be more likely to go to Heaven…”

As a Christian, Lewis certainly should have realized that one’s disposition in the after-life is based entirely on their own personal relationship with Christ, and that it has nothing at all to do with “good intentions.”

        • “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man comes to the Father but by me.”

If (Jesus) Christ himself gave an explicit reminder that belief in Him as Savior (atonement for sins) is necessary to enter Heaven, then yes.

        • Think more on who would seek forgiveness, one who knew they did wrong or one that fervently believed themselves to be right?

        • I don’t know where the we’ll believe anything comes from but when it comes to believing what Jesus Christ said I am a believer.

        • SAFE,
#13 is out of date. They did discredit it, but instead of dismantling it, they took it over. It probably isn’t a coincidence that Obama nominated former avowed communists as directors of both the FBI and CIA.

        • Safe,
These people are insidious and evil in everything that they do. At first they played themselves off as consenting adults playing dress up, I mean what’s the harm a little drag queen show now and then. Now these mfer’s challenge you when you try to protect children from them. They call you homophobic, transphobic and bigoted and in some cases have you imprisoned. I’m comforted in the fact that my Lord will make things right and just. His way has to be better than mine.

        • “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man comes to the Father but by me.”

Every one of man’s religions has some sort of holy story, book or writ, promising salvation if one but follow the commands of their God(s).

I would be interested in seeing actual evidence to support his claims of “heaven”.

        • MINOR Miner49er, you are just going to have to wait until you kick the bucket. But then it will be too late.

        • Lord will make things right and just. His way has to be better than mine.

His way comes way too late, the damage is already done to the children by the time those scumbags get to him.

        • I would be interested in seeing actual evidence to support his claims of “heaven”.

I would be interested in seeing any actual evidence YOU have that “disproves” the existence of “Heaven”…

        • “I would be interested in seeing any actual evidence YOU have that “disproves” the existence of “Heaven”…“

You make the positive claim heaven exists, therefore the burden of proof is upon you.

And the more extraordinary the claim, the more extraordinary the evidence needed to justify the assertion.

My position is one of disbelief, I haven’t seen any objective evidence to support the existence of heaven or hell.

        • My position is one of disbelief, I haven’t seen any objective evidence to support the existence of heaven or hell.

Yet you offer no objective evidence to support YOUR position that they do not exist… I have no objective evidence that YOU exist, therefore, using YOUR logic, would it be fair to say that in light of the absence of evidence you also do not exist?

        • @Miner49er

Christians are still humans with free will. Humans are imperfect.

You seem to think that all who claim to be Christians do nothing but carry around a copy of Gods commandments to keep from doing anything wrong.

So thus in your insane confirmation biased rants, your points are always ‘hypocrites!’ while trying to disprove Gods word or someones mention of their own beliefs or their use of a bible verse or concept or judeo-christian ethics, in favor of proving you and that is the ultimate in hypocrisy and self satisfying confirmation bias.

Some people just want to watch the world burn, and you want to help that along by remaining ignorant.

    • “But gunz so it’s all totally different for some reason.”

That reason is because all the “we’re all about rights” stuff they said on other topics were lies.

The Left is never about rights or freedom, they never have been. Centrist liberals were in some regards (but not others), but at this point they’ve pretty much gone.

Hayek spelled out why this is long ago. When you try to enforce equality of outcome you necessarily have to take control over certain aspects of people’s lives to “flatten the inequalities”. Having done that you find other inequalities which you must then eliminate via an escalation of control over yet more parts of people’s lives. This cycle repeats until you either have a complete police state or a revolution that overthrows the central government because people are, fundamentally, unequal. Some are smart, some are strong, some are good at math while others excel in language. These differences manifest themselves as different outcomes.

“Equality of outcome” necessarily requires a totalitarian state to even attempt. It is, and has been, a logic trap from the beginning. And that’s assuming that the people at the top really are believers and not just out to game the system for their own benefit, which is typically what happens.

      • To Safe,
        let’s try this.

I am so glad you’re bringing this forward, everyone needs to be aware of how Donald Trump and his personal attorney, Michael Cohen, are linked with the Christian leadership sex scandals:

“Trump’s Ties to Jerry Falwell Jr. and His Wife’s Creepy Pool Boy Sex Saga Revealed

“Liberty U., an evangelical institution that decries all matter of perceived immoralities, had already been mired in controversy owing to its horny, nakedly corrupt president, Falwell Jr. He’d been caught on tape enlisting Trump fixer Michael Cohen to help disappear “racy” photos of his wife Becki, and, in a Politico investigation, was accused by over two dozen former and current Liberty officials of running a “dictatorship” wherein he’d brag about his sex life constantly, show nude photos of his wife to colleagues, and engage in rampant self-dealing.”

        • Miner,
There are many many examples of so called “christians” that are really evil to the core. Those people are not Christians. Franklin Graham who runs Samaritan’s Purse is a true Christian and if it were ever to be revealed that he was actually a huckster I would definitely be disappointed but it wouldn’t do one thing to turn me away from my Lord Jesus. Congratulations though on bringing President Trump into a conversation that had absolutely nothing to do with him. Not sure if there is a cure but try to cope. I’m sure things will be better for you after his 2nd term.

      • “different outcome” is cited as a travesty, and they who have apppointed themselves equalisers attempt to “cure” this “problem” by taking from the taller pile one guy has and throwing that onto the very short pile another guy has. They call this “justice” but they miss by a country mile. The “different outcome” is the result of “different capabilities/strengths” in people. Some things can help “equalise” outcomes, most things cannot. Many of these eedjits trying to “fix” things but only know how to destroy one person’s strengths in one area to reduce him to the level of the lazy lout to make it appear they have “fixed” things. What they have done is stolen from one, given part of that to another not worthy of it, and brought everyone down to the same leasr common denominator.

And this is precisely WHY they hate the very concept of armed citizens. Because they KNOW the 275 lb six foot twelve thug will win out over the older five foot naught and a quarter woman when she is attacked by the above critter. And they dont like it when some folks use their brains to equalise disadvantages and outcomes.
The thugs know that when that five foot naught and a quarter Lady deploys her little tool and creates three or four point zero three eight inch diameter openings in that seven foot monster trying to violate her, he is very ikely to come out on the bottom of the new totem pole. If not under the ground holding it up from below. Order and security come in, chaos leaves, and prosperity follows soon after. And THAT is what these perverts despise, and live to prevent from coming upon a people.

  3. Growing up in New York City, every Sunday, my father, an avowed socialist, would bring fresh rolls from the bakery, a selection of cheeses, jelly donuts, and the New York Times. We were too young to care about the newspaper, but we came to associate it with delicious jelly donuts.

Today, 3 of my 4 sisters, along with my brother, still believe the NYT is a newspaper. They believe what they read in it. One of my sisters. and I, have learned to think more critically. The moral of the story is simple: jelly donuts are a socialist mind-control tool. Be wary!!

    • That actually is a flat-out Pavlovian behavior modification, though it probably wasn’t intentional.

You see people make this sort of unintentional mistake with classical conditioning of dogs. They’ll get a small dog and whenever the dog is stressed, they’ll pick it up. The dog never learns to properly interact with people/other dogs that it doesn’t know and just displays the behavior that gets it comfort.

Great way to end up with a bitey little fucker because the dog never learns to regulate its own stress levels without outside intervention.

  4. Hey, TTAG, I used the word ‘ socialist’ and now my comment is awaiting moderation. Would you, please, free it from the gulag!! I also used the words “jelly donuts”.

    • Tale a chill pill. Your “offensive” comment above posted three minutes before your belly ache post, and ten minutes after your below complaint that they have not released your writing.

Maybe they are a bit short handed and take a little while to get round to reading YOURS? Patience, my man.

  5. TTAG,

So, now it seems that my comment asking you to free my comment from the moderator’s gulag has also been consigned to the gulag. Please, free the comments!!

    • Half my comments have been modded today, and I’ve only been on this page at TTAG. I’m done for today. Not going to let this frustrate me over the weekend.

See you all on Monday. Maybe.

      • pity for the poor unfortunate dweeb that MUST occupy his time with slogging through all these that get tagged, deciding what’s right, then doing the clicking necessary to release them from mod jail…. for how many hours a day on end does this guy have to suffer this.. only to get blasted because it a whole three minuts for this magnum opus posting to actually appear on the site.

  6. And yet, there are liberal news outlets like CNN spreading the word that America has become a violent hell hole after constitutional carry because of more “guns” on the streets. I thought they were all about killing off mis-information so I am confused.

    • Please, PLEASE, tell all those illegals storming our Southern Boarder just how dangerous America really is. If it saves just one life…..

    • Rand,

Are you ready for the irony of Progressives pushing the “guns == evil” narrative? A high priority for a stunning number of foreign immigrants and visitors is to buy and/or shoot (as appropriate) a firearm!

I believe the initial appeal is due to the “forbidden fruit” dynamic. Then, once the foreign immigrants and visitors actually shoot, they simply enjoy it for what it is and want to shoot more.

      Case/s in point:
I have one neighbor who is a resident alien from Mexico. He already has his concealed carry license and a respectable firearm collection, including about four handguns, a shotgun, a lever-action rifle, and at least one AR-15 platform firearm that he built himself. And another neighbor who is a U.S. citizen–who emigrated from Mexico–recently purchased one or two handguns and an AR-15 pattern rifle.

      • 38 super is somewhat popular with the few Mexicans we see at the range and mostly in 1911’s. No idea where they get the ammo (besides handling) as I have never seen it in stores and the only online dealer with it in stock that I can find is almost defensive load only.

      • It’s not forbidden fruit. They all know what guns are and how they work. They understand the point of them.

They came from a place where the only people who have guns are bad guys and the people there know exactly how that works out. They understand that owning guns levels that playing field to some degree.

Costa Ricans love guns and own shitloads of them. They’ll tell you flat out that it’s all about avoiding becoming Nicas because Nicaragua has shitloads of guns and very serious gun control. Guess who really runs most of Nicaragua?

    • It is only “misinformation” when it does not agree with or support THEIR preferred/insisted upon narrative. True or no is of no consequence or value to them.

  7. The New York Times Isn’t Comfortable With … Constitutional Carry Enabling More People to Protect Themselves

And I am not comfortable with Progressive True Believers exercising their right to vote or to raise children. Life is like that sometimes. Deal with it.

    Pro-tip #1
Being uncomfortable with a person who exercises their rights does not give YOU the right to infringe on their rights.

    Pro-tip #2
If you think someone’s exercise of their rights is dangerous to themselves, then share your observations and concerns with them. If you persuade them to change for the better, fantastic! If not, that person is responsible for the outcome.

    • “persuade them to change for the better”

They prefer to just rule over them. Honest debate doesn’t exist when one side is censored.

They don’t want to discuss the 2020 election. They want you to shut up about it. There’s a reason for that.

      • Yeah, the reason for that can be traced to the two times that bastard Biden ever told the truth. The first time when he told the gentleman that he didn’t need his vote to win and the second when he accidentally told the truth about having the greatest voter fraud network ever assembled.

      • “They don’t want to discuss the 2020 election. They want you to shut up about it“

I’m not sure if that’s actually correct, everyone I know is happy to discuss the 2020 election, in an attempt to help the “poorly educated” understand the constitutional election process a little better.

And there is much focus on the Trump supporters attempt to overthrow a free and fair election, through the use of ‘fake electors’ in a far reaching scheme to subvert the constitutionally mandated election.

“We would just be sending in ‘fake’ electoral votes to Pence so that ‘someone’ in Congress can make an objection when they start counting votes, and start arguing that the ‘fake’ votes should be counted,” Jack Wilenchik, a Phoenix-based lawyer who helped organize the pro-Trump electors in Arizona, wrote in a Dec. 8, 2020, email to Boris Epshteyn, a strategic adviser for the Trump campaign.

In a follow-up email, Mr. Wilenchik wrote that “‘alternative’ votes is probably a better term than ‘fake’ votes,” adding a smiley face emoji.“

        https://www.nytimes.com/2022/07/26/us/politics/trump-fake-electors-emails.html

I’m sure everyone will be talking about the 2020 election, when the federal felony indictments are announced.

        • Like I said, they refuse to discuss the actual legitimate concerns. You didn’t touch it. We’ve never had an election like that in the history of our country. Go ahead and pretend like it’s normal. Why not? You guys lie about everything else. The goal is never pursuing the truth. It’s only winning.

        • “Like I said, they refuse to discuss the actual legitimate concerns. You didn’t touch it“

Wrong, Donald Trump‘s handpicked Attorney General, William Barr and trumps handpicked FBI Director, Christopher Wray, both conducted extensive investigations into the right wing conspiracy claims.

No significant Democrat (or commie) fraud or corruption was found, in fact, many Republican voters have been arrested for individual voter fraud.

‘Bullshit’, ‘idiotic’: Barr bluntly dismisses claims of election fraud
          Posted June 13, 2022

In a video testimony aired on Monday (June 13) by the committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, former Attorney General William Barr described the mounting claims of voter fraud after the 2020 presidential election as “completely bogus” and said he told then-President Donald Trump that they were doing “a great disservice to the country.”

          https://www.reuters.com/video/watch/idOV460913062022RP1

        • So true Dude. Elections at a county level have been studied and recorded and analyzed for decades. Nobody has explained the huge disparity in the numbers from certain counties from the swing states. Nobody has explained how a count on live television went in reverse for President Trump and that same amount transferred to the dnc’s chosen empty vessel. Nobody has explained to anyone’s satisfaction what that woman was doing pulling hidden suitcases out from underneath the table when observers had left. Nobody but those on the right seem to have a problem with conservative observers being barred from observing. You can lie to us and you can lie to yourself if it helps you sleep at night but anyone with a brain knows this past election was anything but fair.

        • “Nobody has explained the huge disparity in the numbers from certain counties from the swing states.“

Notice how you have provided no specific numbers or localities with which to substantiate your claim…

“Nobody has explained how a count on live television went in reverse”

Again no specifics, but let me explain to you that the television news production crew is not the official vote tabulators, they are just a private company putting numbers up on the screen, subject to error just like any other human.

“Nobody has explained to anyone’s satisfaction what that woman was doing pulling hidden suitcases out from underneath the table when observers had left“

You have been misled by watching a snippet of video, the actual state and federal investigators have viewed the entire surveillance video which shows the election workers putting away the ballots when they were stopping the count for the evening, then opening the ballot box back up to resume counting with the word was given to continue.

Seriously, if you have evidence why didn’t you provide it to trumps Attorney General William Barr? It seems you must be part of the conspiracy as well.

        • MINOR Minor49er Sorry “ole boy” but Barr’s “investigation” wasn’t at all “extensive”. It didn’t last one whole week.

  8. Yup. I posted 3 comments that contained the word “s0c1al1st”. All three were sent to the moderator’s gulag. my comments without that word were posted without moderation.

    Interesting.

        • Maybe “s o c i a l i s t”?

Will we need to start s p a c i n g out our words to get by the filters now?

      • Rick,

I prefer (and always use) the sobriquet “Leftist/fasist” – it has the benefits of (1) being objectively, factually true, (2) it seems to get their panties in a wad, and (3) it doesn’t get “modded”.

And may I just say, in all sincerity, TTAG – your “moderation policy” sucks greasy puppydog nuts. If you can’t come up with a decent moderation policy, PUBLISH IT, and stick by it??? STOP PRETENDING. Your bulls*** excuses about your “algorithms” and “platform-required policy” are complete male bovine excrement. Your present policy makes you look like the Leftist/fascist @$$holes you seem to be – trying to “defend” it with transparent LIES makes you look like venal, incompetent, STUPID, Leftist/fascist @$$holes.

See my middle finger? I have a matched set; here are both of them.

    • LifeSavor,

Correct, the moderation on this forum really flips-out about that word. Do NOT, under any circumstances, spell that word properly if you want a comment to appear immediately.

      • Could not post a comment referring to Lori Lightloafer as B33tlejuic3 yesterday, did not go to moderation just would not post, dropped the reference and it posted no problem.

    • Think this filtering is bad now, just you wait. All them former tweeter folks gotta land somewhere…

  9. The fact that Texas went Permitless doesn’t mean anything. Police face an armed public anyway. THAT is a result of American freedom and the right to defend ourselves. That is also a result of the fact that criminals had guns anyway. They expect me to believe it’s all about whatever decision Abbott makes. Well, it isn’t. They want to paint the Texas governor in a bad light because it’s election time but it isn’t even about him. It’s about our God given right to self defense. It’s about our Constitutional civil rights as expressed by the second amendment. Regardless of what the specific state is or who the governor is. This applies in EVERY state. It’s more that we have some governors and some mayors that do not care to follow the law in this country.

Personally, I could not care less what The New York Times thinks. It isn’t their decision to make. It’s mine.

    • Sorry Debbie, gotta disagree. Makes ‘em go psychotic. Leftist rags don’t even make a decent fishwrapper. Made my walleye taste like week old carp.

      • Not familiar with the taste of week old carp, should I just assume that it tastes like Walleye that’s been wrapped in Liberal newspapers such as the subject of this article?

        • Believe me, I stopped at scent, never got to taste. The possums & coons gave me a report, though. The cat, who would beg for bluegill carcasses & perch eggs, turned up his nose and gave me a look. As a young man, I used to arrow carp for the garden. Triggered some recollections.

  10. More interestng: the word “communist” did not auto- moderate my post. But s0c1al1st definitely triggers the algorithm.

    • Think about the companies that write these programs. They’re a product of the Left and down with censoring any sort of opposition to their ideology. The bigwig pols don’t usually identify as commies because that still has a pretty big negative connotation here. But they will call themselves democratic so_shall_lists.

  11. Should anyone be surprised that the NYT would be opposed to Constitutional carry? Hell, it would show that their anti-gun rhetoric is just garbage. The only good thing about the NYT is the ads on Sunday

  12. “The New York Times Isn’t Comfortable With … Constitutional Carry Enabling More People to Protect Themselves”

NY TIMES??? The last remaining relevance of that bunch of America hating commiepinko progs sailed decades ago. Pravda on the Hudson.

  13. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm… A rise in JUSTIFIABLE homicides AND a DECLINE in OVERALL shooting numbers? Coincidence? or correlated effect? Even more curious is that there are “absolutely more guns on the street, BUT no increase in violent crime”… How can that possibly be true? Everyone knows that the “civilized” world is far safer without guns roaming the streets looking for victims.

  14. It turns out they also aren’t comfortable with free speech. The freak out over twitter is hilarious to watch. These people hate civil rights. They just want to rule over you.

  15. If you’re going to supply a quote it’s just a statement if you don’t attribute it to someone. Who said this? Were they responding to a statement by the entire NYT editorial board? One Op/Ed contributor? An article by named writers the speaker believed had an unfair slant on the topic? If you don’t supply that the at best these comments are a roundtable discussion between the preacher and choir.

  16. Ok, now I see where you quoted Goodman, but the section of his article you quoted contains statements by 3rd parties who are seemingly supportive of permitless concealed carry. That seems strangely at odds with your headline, to the point I didn’t think it at all connected.

The proper headline might have read NYT Reporter Questions Safety of Constitutional Carry to Permit People to Protect Themselves.

It would have been better to maybe include his anecdote about the guy trying to shoot a robber and defending his wife that missed and killed a 9 year old girl by mistake to explain WHY the author was reporting on the issue. It’s a valid question. You’ve seen idiots on the range. Do you trust everyone who has a gun to have the brains and training to use it appropriately in a public setting?

    • “the guy trying to shoot a robber and defending his wife that missed and killed a 9 year old girl by mistake“

No problem here, the dead little girl is just collateral damage so it A-OK with the Conservatives.

Interesting, I didn’t see any quotes in the article about the number of innocent people killed by permit-less carry citizens…

As no charges were filed in this case it seems the killing of the nine-year-old girl was ‘justifiable homicide’, fascinating.

I guess the reporting is right, there has been an increase in ‘justifiable homicides’…

The little girl must be so proud to be included in that number, which the article reports with satisfaction.

      • MINOR Miner49er Not hardly, the death of the little girl is a tragedy. But the carnage could have been much worse if the good guy with a gun didn’t intervene. You see, a homicide in defense of life or your loved ones is JUSTIFIED. If you want to give up your life to a bad guy, don’t let us stop you.

        • “But the carnage could have been much worse if the good guy with a gun didn’t intervene“

You have no way of knowing if that is true, it’s just as possible he could’ve handed over the cash and the robber left with no one killed or injured. We will never know.

But one thing we know for sure, an innocent nine-year-old girl is dead, a ‘justifiable homicide’.

This case is a prime example of why I believe mandatory training / proficiency testing should be required before any person is permitted to carry a lethal weapon in public spaces.

        • MINOR Miner49er, The chances are if the good guy with a gun surprises the bad guy, the bad guy would be surprised. So the chances are excellent that he would have prevented further “collateral damage” as you want to call it.
While your idea of “mandatory training/proficiency” might be “nice”. the Constitution does not require such. I do in fact favor such but as voluntary to keep it in accord with the law.
In the case of the 9 yr old girl, it is not called a “justified” homicide, it is referred to as accidental death.

      • Miner,
“No problem here, the dead little girl is just collateral damage so it A-OK with the Conservatives.”
That statement is stupid beyond belief. Even you should be ashamed to spout it.

        • muckraker,

Your only mistake is attributing to the thoroughly indoctrinated Leftist/fascist liar, MajorStupidity, the moral ability to experience the emotion of shame for his lies. MajorStupidity is as incapable of shame as he is incapable of learning or ratiocination. A cold drink and an actual thought would kill that child stone dead.

        • You’re correct of course Lamp. The time for giving Miner the benefit of a doubt is way past due.

      • “No problem here, the dead little girl is just collateral damage so it A-OK with the Conservatives.”

No, Miner, it’s NOT okay, IF the fucktard had not made the decision to attack those people that little girl would still be alive so yeah, I blame that asshole as does the law in MOST jurisdictions… Wonder why the perp wasn’t charged with negligent homicide since he created the situation that caused that childs death.

        • The perp should be charged with felony murder.

But the innocent child is still dead, because a constitutional carrier discharged his firearm in a reckless manner.

Unlike most on this list, I think that’s a situation that should be addressed with more than thoughts and prayers.

Mandatory training/proficiency testing for those who wish to carry a firearm in public spaces.

        • MINOR Miner49er. You are ASSUMING that good guy discharged the gun in a “negligent manner”. As we were not there, we don’t know that. It could be that the child moved into the line of fire, in which case the good guy would not be criminally liable and probably not civilly liable either.
Again, the Constitution does not require any training although such is advisable.

  17. It’s really too bad that New York metroplex gets to determine the rules for the rest of the state. My guess is that Most of New York is fine with it. New York City isn’t and they call all the shots.

  18. BUT is it a threat to “our” Democracy (theirs, mine is a Representative Constitutional Republic)… Seems that “Nazi” and “racist” are worn out and have been replaced with “a threat to OUR Democracy” (GOP, Trump and supporters, free speech, my Governor)… Funny stuff if wasn’t so sad.

  19. Nine millimeter bullets laying on the Constitution,,,,,,,Blasphemy I say. TTAG your losing it.
    The New York Times,
Now what would they know about anything the community is doing anyway. They get there news from the government, censored and approved.
    *LETS GO BRANDON*

    • “Nine millimeter bullets laying on the Constitution,,,,,,,Blasphemy I say“

Opossum, you have noticed the hidden reveal, this photo is a product of a dark conspiracy.

Why 9 mm? Why not, 45 ACP, 38 special or 45 long colt?
      How about 32–20, 45–70 or 44–40?

And the answer is, because the folks putting this message out for you are not Americans.

  20. Something the disarmament crowd can’t seem to understand. Most of the more or less law abiding people out in the real world have no desire to shoot anyone. Unless there is a clear and immediate threat to life and limb, few people regardless of political or other ideologies or beliefs are looking for the problem. No should the best available means of self defense ever be restricted for any reason.

  21. You would think that an article with this headline might have even one word in it about what the New York Times did or didn’t say on this subject. But you’d be wrong.

    • Ah, I see now — the entire article is an excerpt from a New York Times article that isn’t credited to the New York Times. Well, that’s certainly abstruse. Especially since the quoted excerpt evidences zero “discomfort” with relaxed carry laws.
