Just one more reason why I, a licensed practicing attorney, did not and never will, joins these pompous a** hats. FOAD.
Excellent List! 🙂
No one is arguing that we should all drive eco-diesel hybrids because “no one needs a V-8.”
Actually, I should say there are FEW people arguing…
Actually, you can have a V-10 or V-12 in a car: usually the car is old, or it’s considered a super-car. Leno has a car based around, what was it, a tank engine? Brian Johnson of AC/DC, I believe, has a car based around an older aircraft engine.
The only complainers are the Eco types and those who stand to make money from carbon-footprint schemes (i.e. Al Gore.) … as they beg for engine size limitations because of carbon footprints. (Ignoring that the Prius, with its batteries, has a larger carbon footprint than a H1 Hummer)
That was a great read, full of zingers. Perfect for a Friday evening!
Didn’t I see that lady on a Hildebrandt calendar?
Don: “Also it would be amusing if the response to the SAFE act was to simply proliferate more handguns.”
What would really be amusing would be the death of Lyin’ Andy’s Presidential delusions. Howard Dean’s attempt to become Dear Leader ended with his famous
” EEEARGH” scream. Somehow I doubt the rest of the nation will want follow The Demokratik Sheoples’ Republik of Noo Yawk in civilian disarmament, and that Andy’s hysterical belchings about “NO ONE NEEDS 10 BULLETS TO KILL A DEEAH!!” will return to haunt him.
the “Last Wives Club”
Unless you drive on public roads, you don’t have to register it or have a licence for it.
Here’s the dirty secret: A huge chunk of the ABA’s membership is people in my position. I’m a partner in a medium-sized firm (~150 attorneys). My firm pays ABA dues for every attorney at the firm, and requires ABA membership as a condition of employment. I have gone to a succession of managing partners to pitch making ABA membership optional (let’s just say that gun-grabbing isn’t the only position the ABA promotes that pisses me off, and I’m far from alone among my partners), and I have met a stone wall each time. I’m encouraged to ignore the stuff that annoys me and just focus on the business development possibilities; you can imagine the drill. I’m also told, almost every time I try this, that every other major firm in our city and most major firms in most major cities in America have the identical policy: You want to keep your job, you need to be an ABA member.
So I am relegated to calling them up and screaming at them periodically. Kind of like my relationship with my state legislature, in that respect. I can’t get rid of them, they don’t give a rat’s patoot what I think, and they’d cheerfully confiscate my possessions, family and life if they figured they could get away with it. Gutless bolshevik scum.
Sadly enough, this sort of thing is not entirely unheard of- back in 94 one of my units guys died in the line of duty in a accident. At his widows request, we were given the task of rendering military honors at his graveside service. No problem, we grabbed our M-16’s , blank adapters, and blanks. Was just getting ready to head to the cemetery when we were stopped and told to put the M-16 up- our higher headquarters was told they didn’t want to have the image of NG troops with assault rifles out. Instead, they sent us over a half dozen 1917 Enfield’s that none of our guys knew the manual of arms for……..
You all forgot, unless I missed a post, the things that are undoubtedly the cause for the MOST untimely deaths of men the world over…………WOMEN.
I watched the first video thinking it must be a news story from “the Onion”. Alas no. Sigh.
If any of you think that this “boycott” is the brainchild of a lame-duck mayor from Minnesota, you’re crazy. This has billionaire Mayor Scumberg’s prints all over it.
If Ryberg is a member of MAIG, he’s suckling on the Bloomberg t!t. Or maybe a different organ.
Regrding the first story all I can think of is Chief Wiggum in The Simpsons Movie, “Stop in the name of American squemishness!”
Seriously, this is fv@%!ng rediculous. I don’t want to use children but I seriously hope situations like this and the other girl with the bubble gun are causing people to pull their heads out of their @$$es and realize how out of control this is getting.
Printed on both sides? 😉
Thanks for speaking out!
Scientist / martial artist is a pretty cool combo. Thank you for speaking out, and of course, thank you for your service, Jason!
People like Trotter need to come prepared and when I asked a specific question like O’Donnell did be able to say “why yes Larry here are several examples.” and then date, location and the media the story appeared in.
Private sales dwarf sales to police agencies and most companies don’t make the weapons the police buy in any number.. Without a civilian market most firearms and ammunition manufactures will go out of business. They are going to yawn and continue with business as usual. I could see Glock caving into the threat because of their large volume of government sales but beyond that it’s an empty threat. I am sure Springfield Armory would be happy to see a civilian boycott of Glock.
Step aside R. T. (if that is your real name), and don’t worry gun and ammo manufacturers, we, the 2A-loving public will pick up the slack.
Irrelevance is a female doggie isn’t it Mr. Colmes…
“In fact, Sigmund Freud associated retarded sexual development with a fear of guns”
The link you cited doesn’t exactly support that. This is what the source provided states:
Misattributed [to Freud:]
[“]A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity.[“]
This is not a statement that appears in any translation of any of Freud’s works. It is a paraphrase of a statement from the essay “Guns, Murders, and the Constitution” (February 1990) by Don B. Kates, Jr. where Kates summarizes his views of passages in Dreams in Folklore (1958) by Freud and David E. Oppenheim, while disputing statements by Emmanuel Tanay in “Neurotic Attachment to Guns” in a 1976 edition of The Fifty Minute Hour: A Collection of True Psychoanalytic Tales (1955) by Robert Mitchell Lindner:
Dr. Tanay is perhaps unaware of — in any event, he does not cite — other passages more relevant to his argument. In these other passages Freud associates retarded sexual and emotional development not with gun ownership, but with fear and loathing of weapons. The probative importance that ought to be attached to the views of Freud is, of course, a matter of opinion. The point here is only that those views provide no support for the penis theory of gun ownership.
Due to misreading of this essay and its citations, this paraphrase of an opinion about Freud’s ideas has been wrongly attributed to Freud himself, and specifically to his 10th Lecture “Symbolism in Dreams” in General Introduction to Psychoanalysis on some internet forum pages: alt.quotations, uk.politics.guns, talk.politics.guns, can.talk.guns , etc.
One of the statements by Freud which Kates summarized from in Dreams in Folklore (1958), p. 33, reads: “The representation of the penis as a weapon, cutting knife, dagger etc., is familiar to us from the anxiety dreams of abstinent women in particular and also lies at the root of numerous phobias in neurotic people.”
The fact that he has a CA. CCW proves he is a Leftist Shill
OK I tried to watch this and didn’t even make it 2 minutes before I had to turn it off.

I’m making it into a separate post.
