Gun Review: Taurus GX4, Affordable and Reliable

I have to admit, my first experience with Taurus firearms was not favorable. Years ago, a friend purchased a .357 revolver and brought it over for me to look at. He was proud of the gun, and I reserved telling him exactly how I felt because I didn’t want to hurt his feelings. It was … Read more

The difference between 9mm and 9mm Luger ammunition is either nothing or the latter is part of the former. Depending on how you define it. Huh? GLOCKs are among the country’s favorite handguns for self defense because of their simple, reliable operation and uncomplicated manual of arms. Tens of thousands of GLOCKs go to work every day protecting their owners’ homes, vehicles, and selves, so the Austrian gun’s utility is not a well-kept secret. But different GLOCKs have different characteristics, often … Read more

The Great Caliber Debate: .380 ACP vs 9mm

At 5:17 PM Godse used a Beretta M1934 he’d apparently stolen to shoot Indian independence leader Mahatma Gandhi in the chest – three times – point-blank. By doing this Godse sealed … Read more

Gun Review: Remington R51 Gen 2

I was excited when Remington announced they were creating a redesignedModel 51 handgunin its Huntsville, Alabama factory. I was looking forward to seeing what the country’s oldest gunmaker could do with the Pedersen Action concept, formerly lost to the mists of time. But the redesigned R51 stumbled out of the gate. Badly. (Clickhereto read my original review.) To its credit, Big Green … Read more

Winter Project: Customizing Your Kel-Tec SUB-2000

image

By Diego Cesarei

When I first saw the Kel-Tec SUB-2000 my thought was, “Cool! I want that thing!” I wanted it so badly that I happily paid the European price, which is almost the equivalent of $800 U.S. Even today I’m not sure if it was a good deal. Not that the gun isn’t good. Not that the design isn’t “smart.” On this last point, I think it’s way better than most of the other alternative in the segment. Most of my concerns are related to the build quality and general robustness which is way behind that most of its competitors. But this isn’t a review of the SUB-2000, this is the story of how I customized mine to get it more in line with my expectations . . .
