Here’s US Navy sailor Richard’s EDC gear. We’ve always thought the Ruger LCR (this one in .327 Federal) has one of the best revolver triggers around. And those aftermarket G10 grips are a nice touch, too.

  2. Can anyone who knows tell me how the recoil on .327 Federal compares to .38 spl+P?

    I know it’s less than .357 mag, but how much less?

    • About a quarter of a tenth less I would say, loaded. Depends on the target too. Thank you.

  3. .327 Fed Mag is roughly the same recoil as a standard J Frame with .38 spl.+P. Very manageable with the LCR’s grips. Even more manageable is the .32 H&R Magnum but still not underpowered. XTP projectiles work very well.

      The LCR fires all of the .32 cal rounds doesn’t it?

      Does it fire .32 acp using moon clips?

      • You don’t need moonclips for the .32 acp but sometimes they don’t extract properly, have to poke the spent cases out of the cylinder.

      • I wouldn’t think it would all fit together with the moon clip if the cylinder isn’t cut for it but perhaps the acp round would fit and fire without It? It’s way below the pressure of a 327 federal mag round.

  7. My only qualm about getting the LCR in 327 is how much longer do we really think it’s going to last? It doesn’t seem to be doing super well, but I really love the cartridge and think it’s amazing for what it does. The extra round in the same size cylinder doesn’t hurt either.

    • Meh. Shouldn’t really matter if you buy enough now while it’s available. I expect the few hundred rounds I have on hand to last me the rest of my life – not using it as a range toy and only fire a cylinder for familiarity a couple times a year. Use 32 H&R or 32 Longs for more frequent proficiency training. Reloading might be option too.

      • Makes sense. I’m not into reloading at all, don’t have time or space (or money for starting up). The only thing I would get into reloading for would be super expensive long range rifle (338LM, 50, 416, etc.). I’ll take your advice and get a few hundred rounds.

    • I carry a M9 on duty. I’ve made a calculation based on the socio/economic group that I belong to and the company that I keep. A relatively small revolver in my pocket is enough to keep my family and I safe while in CONUS. I carry 18 rounds on speed strips because it’s easy, and if things go sideways it may give me a chance to get to my rifle. What’s your background?

    • What wisdom do you have to offer on what I carry? Should it be an auto pistol? What experience led you to be an expert? What do you carry? Have you ever been in a gunfight? I’m eagerly waiting for you to enlighten me with your expertise.

  9. Yes, these EDC posts are often usually more comical than anything else. The over the top tacticool EDC posts are almost embarrassing to read.
