“An 18-year-old gunman who injured two students at a high school prom in northern Wisconsin Saturday night died after he was shot by police,” abcnews.go.com reports. “The shootings took place just after 11 p.m. local time when the suspect showed up with a rifle outside Antigo High School and started shooting, said Eric Roller, the city’s police chief.” The report uses the usual terms to describe the now-dead rifleman (and former Antigo student) Jakob Wagner’s weaponry . . .

The Unified School District of Antigo said in a statement that the gunman, identified by police as Jakob Wagner, had a high-powered rifle and a large ammunition clip.

Officers already in the parking lot patrolling the event returned fire and shot the suspect, police said.

The Langlade County coroner said Sunday that Wagner died after he was transported to a local hospital.

Good guys with guns save the day again. Who’d a thunk it?

  1. Oh pishaa! They were the “Only One’s”. The State enforcers are “specially trained”.

A regular armed citizen would have just peed thier pants, or ended up shooting everyone other than the bad guy.

At least, so says the anti-freedom zealots.

  2. Any punk who shows up at a prom and starts shooting people should end up DRT at the end of a defender’s gun. I’m tired of seeing the smirking faces of vicious killers when they are led off in cuffs, and I’m not in favor of allowing them to commit seppuku with their last shot.

Let them get what they tried to give, and let that be a lesson to the next SOB who tries the same.

  3. Somebody should ask the media savants what rifle is NOT “high-powered”, in their expert view.

  4. They didn’t call it an assault rifle so it must have been a bolt action with maybe a 4 to 5 round mag. Must not have had a scope or they’d have called it a ‘sniper’ rifle.

    • Nope, large clipazine. Dude was an operator, clearly operating.

Well, was operating I should say.

      • I feel like “large ammunition clip” means he had a clip with large ammunition in it. Like a stripper clip for a Mosin Nagant. That ammo is pretty large.

    • It was high powered and had a large ammunition clip. Must have been a garand. I didn’t think those were very popular among 18 year olds. huh.

  5. A large clip? what did he have, a Garand? SKS? But those use standard clips, so I am confused.

  6. “Gunman…blah blah…rifleman”

Why don’t we hear about knifemen in the news? I mean plenty of knife attacks and murders happen.

What about hammermen? Fistmen? Brokenbottlemen? Nope. They are just ‘attackers’, ‘killers’ or ‘assailants’ to the media. Proper labeling is important when a firearm is involved and you want to imply the weapon itself is somehow culpable. Because guns.

    • In fairness, “gunman” as a standard word long precedes the present gun-control advocacy of the media. But they do play it to the hilt; all of the victims of Elliot Roger’s spree, whether they were shot, stabbed, or run over with a car, are lumped together as “victims of the Isla Vista gunman”, when they are not being left out of the narrative altogether.

  7. Another child, senselessly killed by Gun Violence. The blood dancers won’t mourn him by name, but they’ll gladly add him to their tally of deaths caused by evil racist NRA members.

  8. GunBOY. Boy still pizzed about high school. Just reported not life threatening to the 2 kids shot. Happy this punk was the only one to die. And NO anti-gun fallout in the land of Cheeseheads…

    • And yet I’m still happy. No sarcasm or humor intended. Shooting a punk trying to kill prom goers sounds just.
