Not every shooting platform is perfectly stable. There are times when you might need to take a shot from a moving platform — something like a rocking boat or a shifting helicopter. When you really need to take a precise shot from such a platform the only thing you can normally rely upon is the competency of the shooter and how well they handle the situation. For those who don’t have an expert shooter like that on staff, there’s a new piece of equipment that might be able to compensate for the motion and take a very precise shot. There’s just one problem: the thing is massively expensive . . .
The idea here is that this system can quickly and easily integrate with your existing semi-auto sniper system of choice. There’s a trigger module that attaches to the gun to remotely fire the gun, and a camera that looks down the scope of the gun to remotely give a view of what you’re aiming at.
The controls are housed in a remote controller. The idea is that the gun can be mounted on the roof but controlled from within the confines of an armored vehicle. The power comes from a standard NATO battery, which provides two hours of consonant use before needing to be swapped out. The problem: price is going to run about $25,000. I’m not sure your average local police department would be on board with that kind of expense for a very specialized piece of equipment.

Actually I’m sure plenty of PD’s will put this on their completely necessary armored vehicles. If they have the budget for those they can afford this.

I do know some LE departments are ‘encouraged’ to use all in their yearly budgets, lest they get allocated less in the next fiscal year.
What a nice way help them spend their allocated budget.

i just don’t like all this weapons automations. i know its good because it takes our people our of harms way but it also desensitizes us as to what we are doing with these devices, which is not good.
