Robert —

Don’t take it from me that gun violence prevention organizers won the August congressional recess:

Just ask the gun lobby.

They were so nervous about our hundreds of grassroots events, they sent out guidance to their members to try to counter our work.

Suffice it to say: This is why our organizing matters. It’s also why we can’t back down now that we have some momentum. Passing legislation in Congress means facing down some powerful, well-funded interests. (They just happen to be special interests who are worried about what we’re up to, too.)  . . .

Chip in $5 or more right now to build the grassroots organization that can win this fight.

The most heartening thing about August is that, from coast to coast, OFA organizers were recognized for their amazing work.

Local press took notice, because nearly every community has experienced the tragedies of gun violence.

We won August because of you — because it matters to you that we pass legislation to keep our children safe. And maybe because of the work we do, Congress will take action, so more families won’t have to grieve the loss of a loved one.

While the gun lobby is planning their efforts to beat back our progress, now’s the best time to keep fighting.

Today, I’m hoping that means you’ll chip in $5 or more right now:

P.S. — MaryAnn Piccioni, of Chester County, PA, said it best in the Daily Local News: “It’s important to let Congress see that these kind of issues matter to grassroots organizations.” Support Mary, and all the grassroots organizers across the country, and chip in $5 or more right now.

The other side will spend millions to maintain the status quo. We’re fighting for change — chip in $5 or more to support OFA today.

  1. Remember when everyone said people were paranoid for saying Obama was coming for our guns? Almost seems like the good ol’ days now, doesn’t it?

    • Well, A81, it’s not like he’s personally coming for our guns. He has the ATF, FBI and the rest of the alphabet for that.

  2. Sounds like the dying plea of a worthless organization. Case in point; the overtaking of MAIG in Columbus, Ohio by the Pro-Gun groups. BUT, we cannot give up. We must charge on!!

    • Funny how these people call themselves “grass roots” despite having the midget mikey on their side and backing them, yet the CITIZEN run CO recall effort, and in fact anything done by the pro-gun side is done by the faceless demonic “gun lobby” and not average people who hate useless anti-gun laws and the politicos who drive them. Even “the NRA” is some faceless megalith, and not an org representing millions of INDIVIDUAL gun owners.

  3. “The most heartening thing about August is that, from coast to coast, OFA organizers were recognized for their amazing work.”
Sure they were. They were hard to miss, being the only ones in the room…

    [I’m sorry. I just can’t help snickering.]

    • Just think of the courage it took to stand alone in that room, with that uncomfortable silence and all. Sounds lke a “Profiles in Courage” segment on one of those network “news” shows, don’t it?

  4. …..”won the August congressional recess…”

Won what? Am I missing something? Besides Obama usurping the BoR with executive orders, what did they “win”?

  5. Organizing for Action… is that kind of like… Hope and Change?

What action? What hope? What change? Those are better questions.

“The other side will spend millions to maintain the status quo.”
Those millions come from “We the people.” Funny he refers to them as “well-funded interests.”

    • Isnt it great how these gun grabbing groups love to point out how pro gun donations are made like we are buying congress? Yet they foam at the mouth with joy when Bloomberg has his checkbook in his hand. Hypocrisy at its finest.

  6. I made the mistake of clicking the link, not realizing that it went to the OFA website. Firefox crashed. And the NSA has probably installed a trojan on my computer.

  7. … MaryAnn Piccioni, of Chester County, PA, said it best in the Daily Local News…

Heh. When I lived in West Chester years ago that local rag was unanimously referred to as The Daily Lack of News.

  8. Used to, OFA would ask for donations before or after the link. Now they’re asking in the midst of the webpage. And I WOULD give them a donation, but that’s too much like bribing a government official.

  9. “Local press took notice, because nearly every community has experienced the tragedies of gun violence.”

    Riiiiight.

Local press took notice because the press has been joined at the hip with gun prohibitionists since the 1960s. For every anti-gun “grassroots” event the press covers, there are three pro-rights demonstrations (with at least triple the attendance) that our nation’s intrepid journalists choose to ignore.

  10. ” The other side will spend millions to maintain the status quo. We’re fighting for change” I for one would preffer change over maintaining the status quo. Let’s start with repealing the NFA and ’68 GCA.

  11. This whole OFA thing is ridiculous. White House staff resign to go run Obamas PR organization with unused campaign funds, email lists and a direct phone line from the wizard himself. Gag.

I just signed up for the email blasts. Keep your enemies close;)

  12. OK, so some things haven’t gone our way, to be sure. But for their side to see that as “winning” makes them as batshit crazy as Charlie Sheen, but without the eye candy to distract people from the insanity. They need some half-naked women (and men too, amirite ladies?) to distract from their abject failure.

  13. Don’t you all just LOVE the spin on this one? Notice its now the “gun lobby” sending folks to rallies and not gun owners themselves. Keep doing us a favor, anti-freedom folks, but continuing to think of us as slack jawed yokels living in trailers being slavishly manipulated by Smith & Wesson instead of educated, informed, and actively engaged voters.

  14. Why is OFA writing to you, RF?

Isn’t there some sort of “bugger off” list…? There should be.

    • Could it be the, “Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer.” ploy?
Having intel on our opponents keeps us up on what they’re planning on doing.
If they want to Email us their thoughts and plans, we shouldn’t refuse their offer.

If any of the millions of unemployed collecting a government unemployment
check donate to this cause, it’ll be our own tax dollars being used against us.

  15. “Local press took notice, because nearly every community has experienced the tragedies of gun violence.

We won August because of you…”

That first sentence struck me as one of celebration, not mourning, and the second only reinforced that impression. They aren’t just waving the bloody shirt, they’re selling it the stands as a souvenir checkered flag.

  16. When cockroaches get sprayed they go nuts-the gun grabbers are acting like that because they see their post Newtown opportunism fading away.Obama has been revealed as a foul, lying SOB about a lot more than seizing guns.No one with half a brain believes him any more.

  17. Everyone on this forum who voted libtard (democrat) during the last election now see the error of their ways. Never vote democrat again.

  18. Wait a minute, is this the same OFA that had one or two anti-gun dweebs show up at each rally? With hundreds of “gun lobby” people taking over their rallies?
