Opposition to New York SAFE Act Grows

I know what you’re thinking: where were all these people when the SAFE Act was hurtling through the Empire State legislature, exploiting the post-Sandy Hook spree killing hysteria? Remember that their elected representatives had twenty minutes to read the Act before they voted on it. And that Governor Andrew Cuomo used his emergency powers to short-circuit New Yorkers’ Constitutional right to a three-day “cooling off” period between a bill’s passage and the Governor’s signature. And that New York is a blue state only because of the Big Apple and its Democratic satellites. Anyway, New York gun owners are plenty pissed now; they’re not backwards about coming forwards. Make the jump for the most recent list of NY counties, towns, law enforcement organizations and county clerk (singular) that have passed resolutions against the Act. As my father used to say, that and 25 cents will get you downtown. Back in the day . . .

  1. If what you want is for LE to live under the same gun rules as the rest of us, are you saying that you want the rest of us to live under the same gun rules as LE? As in, much more stringent training before being allowed to carry a gun, regular re-qualification, etc?

    • Has a LEO ever been legitimately been fired because they couldn’t hit the target in training. And what I say to mean as a non political dismissal?

  2. 10 USC § 311 – Militia: composition and classes

    (b) The classes of the militia are—
    (1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and

  3. 40 hrs – need to take a week off from work. 20 hrs range time – fees and ammo. Would this be shooting at paper targets, or cool tactical stuff like breaching doors? Pay for instruction plus numerous fees that go to state coffers. This is gonna be expensive. Only the elite will be able to afford this, and I’m sure the nasty time consuming parts will be waived.

  4. Will the purchase and sale of “pre-ban” magazines be allowed by the new law? Will there be any way to know if a magazine was purchased before or after the ban goes into effect? (Edit: On the second question, I’m just wondering how pre-ban magazines will be distinguished from illegal ones that were purchased out of state)

  5. Back in January I participated in a phone conference that was hosted by Biben’s rumpswab, Bruce Reed. The phonecon was in advance of the results of Joe’s Gun Violence Commission and was supposed to give some of us peasants a chance to offer ideas and/or voice concerns.

I’ve run into some incompetent government hacks in my time, but this guy took the cake. He started out by rambling incoherently for about ten minutes about what the commission was up to but it was so obvious that he had done absolutely nothing to prepare for the call. He then opened up the lines for questions/comments; I tried to punch in the access code but was not quick enough. I expected this to be an anti-gun, libtard suck-fest. I was wrong; six of the seven callers were gun owners. One dude was a FFL from North Carolina who proceeded to tear Mr.Reed a new a-hole.

  6. Who elected this tard? Does anyone understand the police/fire system is only designed to help a few people at a time? If the whole town gets thrown into a crisis the police will not get to you! Its a simple math formula. 50-60 cops for thousands of calls. I work for an EMA and I know for a fact if everyone needs help at once your hosed! You will be fending for yourself and I ask all 2A people to let these anti-gun people get whats coming to them. Call the police on phones that don’t work and whine that the government is not helping you. Let your rights be trampled and be victims.

  7. Someone fill in the blanks for me but wouldn’t “universal registration” go in direct violation of FOPA (Firearm Owners Protection Act) which, if I recall correctly, directly forbids a registration database? If so wouldn’t they have to repeal FOPA first because how could you enforce one law if it is in direct violation of another?

No matter, hopefully the vast majority of freedom loving gun owners would refuse to comply with any such draconian law. Charles Shmuck can take his proposal and cram it up his own backside.

  8. It wasn’t so bad, then the Mayors Against America showed up.

It is amazing to see how the pro gun witnesses are armed with facts, reason, and proposals for actual change.

The gun grabbers’ testimonies are based on emotional key words and taking advantage of victims.

  9. “It sounds as if this last-minute issue is simply a lame excuse to kill the bill for those lawmakers already under pressure from the National Rifle Association. ”

Malarkey. Similar legislation was shot down in 2007 by Coburn for the same issue. The only lame excuse is the author’s attempt to claim this is a last minute issue with no sound basis. Pathetic.

  10. Instead of bread and circuses, we have DiFi and barrel shrouds. Damn, where’s McCarthy, at least the “shoulder thingy that goes up” or whatever verbal diarrhea she spouted made me laugh.

People actually hold this ignoramus up as some kind of beacon on a hill, when they should be chastising her for wasting our time with this chickenshit when there are actual issues that need to be addressed.

    I need a minute…
    EXPLETIVES REDACTED AD NAUSEUM.
    Right…

We deserve what our apathy has created. Let me know when you have a real plan to defeat the threat to our nation’s future, and have stopped squabbling over how stupid the antis are. Assuming your enemy is ignorant and failing to respect them is one of the most fatal, and ancient, mistakes you can make in warfare, and YOU, Robert, Dan and Nick, have fallen for it hook, line, and sinker. I expect better from you. Hell, I’ve seen better from you. Yeah, sensationalism sells, I get it. You run a business of creating headlines and articles people want to read, I get it. But ya know, you all have the chance to be the next Poor Freakin’ Richard in the firearms crusade and you’re blowing it. Don’t think Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, et al, made their mark on history by writing op ed pieces about how terrible King George’s robes looked. You get people with sensationalism, but you keep them with substance. I’d be happier with two or three well-researched posts a day, detailing exactly what the latest disarmament bill means, piece by piece. By now, it’s old hat that DiFi doesn’t know a shroud from a guard. Let’s get past it.
