Hunting is dangerous. While the animals looking at the business end of a firearms face the greatest peril, the two-legged mammals wielding the weapons sometimes come a cropper. In other words, oops. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Law Enforcement Division is charged with creating an annual When Bad Things Happen to Careless Hunters report. Click here for the run down on the gunned down. In 2010, two hunters lost their lives in pursuit of prey. A Missaukee man bought the proverbial farm whilst capping his muzzleloader. A Lenawee hunter shot himself as he was climbing down from a tree. And yes, someone shot themselves in the foot. Condolences all ’round. But you gotta love an official report that uses the word “scooting”: “Female scooting backwards in brush with firearm, hammer cocked, and discharged firearm hitting boyfriend at close proximity.” As J. Geils tells us, love stinks.

    • The song in the video, of course. My blood runs cold just thinking about Ozzie singing “Love Stinks.” Note the veiled J. Geils reference.

  1. My neighbor up north made the national news wires a few years back when he took aerosol paint and wrote “COW” in large letters on his livestock.
