New York Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger is tooled-up. Meanwhile, your average American journalist is about as likely to carry a gun as vote Republican. That’s because We The People own guns. Our firearms deter the government from realizing its predisposition towards tyranny and, eventually, eliminating “non-cooperative” journalists. The Obama Administration spied on James Rosen but (presumably) never considered making the Fox News reporter “disappear.” They knew that any such move would set the government on a collision course with armed Americans. As we’ve said over and over again, the Second Amendment protects the First. But don’t take my word for it. Here’s a borderlandbeat.com dispatch from Veracruz that . . .
Abducted Veracruz journalist found dead, the 11th during Duarte administration
by Lucio R.
Veracruz Journalists murdered during Javier Durate governorship
Mayor ordered his death, former police confesses to the killing
Moises Sanchez was a Veracruz journalist who reported on corruption and organized crime for the newspaper La Union. On the second day of the New Year, gunmen invaded his home and abducted the reporter. His body was found on Saturday in the municipality of Medellin de Bravo, there were signs of severe torture.
On Sunday, the attorney general of Veracruz, Angel Luis Bravo, reported the capture of Clemente Noé Rodríguez, a former municipal police, who said the murder was “commissioned” by Medellin mayor Omar Cruz Reyes. The confessed murderer revealed Sanchez was killed the same day as his abduction.
Although the PGR agency reported a “positive” identification, those results were based on fingerprint comparison. Sanchez’ son, Jorge Sánchez, mistrusts those results because of the poor condition of the body. The body had been decomposing for 22 days when discovered. The PGR agency has ordered DNA studies.
Because the mayor has immunity from prosecution, he has not been arrested. A legal process is being conducted to impeach annul immunity. The same process was conducted in the case of Mayor Jose Abarca of Iguala. It was during that time that Abarca and his family fled.
Since 2010 eleven Veracruz journalists have been murdered
From the date in 2010 when Javier Duarte de Ochoa took office as governor of Veracruz, there have been 11 journalists murdered.
Names of Veracruz Journalists murdered:
Noel López Olguín
Miguel Ángel López Velasco
Misael López Solana
Yolanda Ordaz, Regina Martínez
Guillermo Luna Varela
Gabriel Huge Córdova
Esteban Rodríguez
Víctor Manuel Báez Chino
Gregorio Jiménez
Any word on if Javier Duarte de Ochoa is a Mayor Against Illegal Guns member? Lol.
But that could never happen in OUR country. We are way too civilized for such things. Anyone who says they need guns to protect our 1st Amendment rights, or any others for that matter is simply crazy and shouldn’t have guns in the first place. Now if we can just get rid of that pesky 2nd…..
Statist, Communist, or Troll? (D) All of the above
Edit: or my sarcasm meter is off today
Better adjust your sarcasm meter! 😉
An occasional mulligan is par for the course. No worries.
As a fellow Rhode islander I just have to say…. I expect better, your sarcasm meter should be finely tuned living here….
That meter is due for calibration.
Don’t we all love the blatant racism of the left (this is not an attack on the OP, the sarcasm was obvious)? “We white Americans (of European descent) are immune from the violence and corruption that plagues those brown people….”
Insert something about “checking your privilege” here.
Yep it would never happen in America unless immigration was unchecked and well… Wait a minute.
But that happened in a nation other than the United States and it is impossible anything like that could happen here because this is America people.
So they all said until they were numbered and killed.
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”
– Jorge Agustín Nicolás Ruiz de Santayana y Borrás, known as George Santayana (December 16, 1863 – September 26, 1952)
Yet, those of us who see this as a truism, are simply tin foiled hat wearing paranoids not capable of intelligent conversation and certainly bereft of sufficient humanity to understand their common sense approach to reducing gun violence.
Was America. Not so sure anymore.
What many in the fourth estate in this country fail to understand or refuse to acknowledge is that corrupt statist governments, and yes I am being admittedly redundant when saying corrupt and statist, always target the press. By constantly attacking the 2A, they are truly insuring their own demise should this nation ever reach the point of discarding what is arguably the most important of constitutionally recognized rights.
What you say would come to pass if “journalists” ever disagreed with corrupt government objectives.
Of course I have yet to see a Progressive journalist who views any government objective as corrupt.
“Of course I have yet to see a Progressive journalist who views any government objective as corrupt.”
Proof that sometimes your enemies just love to let you know who they are.
Well journalists loved to criticize the government when Bush was president it was your “patriotic” duty to do so.
Yet when their messiah Obama was elected they became government lapdogs and you are a racist, right-wing, redneck to dare speak out against him.
The hypocrisy is astounding.
No. The progressive/journalists are fully supportive of the corrupt government practices if it’s one of “their guys” ie Obama and his tendencies of a marxist/communist.
They attack viciously the “other guys”corrupt government practices if they are the Republicans and their facist tendencies.
It just depends on which flavor of big government corruption the journalists agree with.
It could happen here. It doesnt not because its “America” but because we have “Americans”, which means we have been brought up through generations with the thought of defending yourself and having the means to do so (guns). Take that away and you take away those means. Laws of Nature. When you have an animal that is defenseless they get preyed upon more than the animal that has a good defense. People are no different. And for those states who feel it necessary to restrict magazine capacity or restrictions on ownership, well simply put we cant fend off a government that has advanced firepower and technology with bolt action rifles and restricted pistols and firearms. The second amendment is there for that purpose, to defend against a government takeover. Without newer and up to date technology it would be virtually impossible. You obey the law, you should be able to own such.
The ruling class, particularly the left, like Bubba Clinton and Bummer, use the IRS as their attack dog against those who resist.
Harry Reid has proposed a “constitutional amendment” that would allow the federal government to censor the press. Only individually owned printing presses would be exempt from federal regulation.
A lot of us strongly suspect US journalist Michael Hastings was murdered via hacking to his ultra-modern Mercedes car.
Or journalists are in no danger. They would never report on a corrupt administration.
Ain’t that the truth. Big difference between reporting on and reporting to.
The press will do as they are requested to do by the Regime here in Amerika. Ultimately they all know that this is what they want. An authority that will force change. It’s understandable the Obummer administration wants to protect itself and minimize the potential for bad press, so the press will gladly censor itself.
It’s for the greater good.
Mayors with immunity….
Bloomburgs wet dream. Especially since two more bit the dust. Criminally speaking.
Yup, it could never happen here, thanks god. I was just reading two reporters thoughts on such a thing the other day. Gary Webb and Michael Hastings both say American reporters are protected from harm by the 1st Amendment. God bless that Constitution ! Maybe you should get an interview with them on the topic?
But look what was posted at the Guardian! (my favorite Paper outside of The Times).
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/feb/01/putin-stopped-ukraine-military-support-russian-propaganda
WOW. Mayors in Mexico have immunity. I’m packing my bags and moving south of the border today!!
You don’t think the people in the US government have “disappeared” anyone they thought was inconvenient? There have been plenty from both the Clinton and Bush years, although the last one that I’m certain about was the “DC madam.”
Now they also “lean” on banks to deny credit to businesses of which they don’t approve.
That sort of suggests they’ll use any power whether legal or not, to “shape” society as they “know” is best.
It illustrates that the Democratic party is no longer democratic — it’s technocrats who think they know better that the rest (as opposed to capitalists who think they know better, in the GOP).
My own firearms themselves aside, the Second Amendment would still be my favorite. It is what gives vitality and value to all of the others.
Silent and patient, the Second Amendment is a persistent, persuasive reminder of the First, in particular. Super cool, it’s the Steve McQueen of Bill of Rights.
Far out man! You
drivetalk just like Steve McQueen.I don’t think the Obama administration would not make a man like James Rosen disappear because they fear armed Americans. I think rather it is that they are not that kind of people. Also, if James Rosen suddenly was to “disappear,” for one, it would be nearly impossible to keep such a conspiracy under wraps (real conspiracies almost always spring a leak), and two, Fox News would have been all over it.
Kyle, it would help if you put in sarcasm tags, otherwise people actually might think you’re serious.
Unless you are being serious?
Hmm, maybe there should back another marking like people do with a sarcasm tag with marking in brackets ( I’m serious).
I would advise anyone who thinks the current administration has not murdered a journalist look into Michael Hastings. I realize that opening sounds very tinfoil hat but there’s heavy evidence of foul play and uncle sam had the most motive.
It’s a matter of closing off any opportunities for change. Many of us look back 20 years and see how things can change. You need not own a firearm if you don’t wish. But what if you want and can’t have? The anti-firearm people are shooting themselves in the foot.
The anti gun folks put themselves in a corner. They rage at the crime committed and take away the tools in which to save their own lives. Guaranteed to fail.
