NRA F-rated Sen. Edward Markey (D-Mass.) and Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) introduced legislation to authorize the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to give $60 million of the taxpayers’ money to anti-gun activists over the next six years, to conduct “research” promoting gun control. The two longtime anti-gun legislators say that their bill is necessary for two reasons, both of which are hokum . . .

First, they say, Congress in 1996 “almost halted entirely” all funding of gun control research, the operative word being “almost.” In 1996, Congress did stop the CDC from funneling millions of the taxpayers’ dollars to anti-gunners to conduct “research”–pitiful by academic standards–designed from the get-go to promote a political agenda against a constitutionally-protected right.

However, it didn’t shut off the spigot through which millions of dollars flow to the same anti-gunners from leftwing philanthropic foundations. For example, the Joyce Foundation alone has given several million dollars to a variety of anti-gun groups and individuals every year since 1996.

Second, Markey and Maloney say, anti-gun research is necessary to stop the “gun violence . . . epidemic,” which Maloney implies is increasing. Words have meaning, however. An epidemic is a sudden and severe outbreak of an infectious disease throughout a community, and “gun violence” isn’t a disease, it’s not widespread, it doesn’t affect all segments of the population equally, and it’s been decreasing, not increasing.

Only three-one-thousandths of one percent of the U.S. population are the victims of firearm-related murders annually. Victimization rates vary widely according to a person’s sex, age, race, economic status, area of residence, and criminal record. And, over the last 20 years–coinciding with a huge increase in the numbers of Right-to-Carry states, gun owners and guns owned–the firearm murder rate has been cut in half, even though virtually none of the gun control restrictions advocated by anti-gun researchers has been implemented.

About the NRA-ILA

Established in 1975, the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the “lobbying” arm of the National Rifle Association of America. 1. Can we spend the same amount studying how race-baiting agitators inflame biases and incite rioting? And of course how to help reduce this tragic tide of venomous invective?

No? First amendment, you say? Huh. Who’d have thought?

    • “Can we spend the same amount studying how race-baiting agitators inflame biases and incite rioting?”

Don’t you watch the news? They don’t incite rioting! The unrest is caused 100% by poor, defenseless rioters not being given enough cars to burn to keep themselves warm on the cold, summer nights, leaving them NO CHOICE except to steal TVs and beat up anyone unlucky enough to be in their path.

      …or something like that.

      • They are figuring it out quickly.

The fight is going to get real tough over the next few years and probably end one way or the other when the U.N. comes in. We haven’t even begun to truly fight for our gun rights yet. Scary days ahead..

  2. And given our countries already humongous deficit, these measures have a chance in what? of even coming up for a vote in the Republican controlled congress?

These pandering, anti-gun politicians are simply laying groundwork for future opportunities in a more Democrat friendly, spend and spend more, Democrat controlled congress where they will have a greater opportunity to advance their anti-gun agenda.

It’s nice that these Anti American Democrats are revealing their plans in advance.

    • /sp/ “countries” s/b “country’s’

The “edit” feature seems to be a no-show today.

      • “The “edit” feature seems to be a no-show today.”

Hit and miss on this end.

Dan Z. seems to think it’s my browser (F-Fox)… All I know is it started when the website updated its code a few months back.

  3. This is why it’s important to join groups like NRA, GOA, SAF, etc…Anti’s seemingly have unlimited access to $$$..like it or not sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. THEN… actually get out and vote these fools out of congress…. http://www.nra.org/ruger go here for a discount on your membership for NRA…picked this up with my last ruger.

  4. Point all the guns at the people to take their property through extortion.
Use said property to finance the brainwashing of said people through government infiltrated media outlets.

Yup. America is working as planned. Glad to see nothing has changed in the last 50 years.

  5. This is just another cash-to-friends give-away from the Admin. They are lining the pockets of friends before the lean times a-comin’.

Like Obamacare that gave $ to GE for a medical records database that was already built (Hillary pushed for funding when she was first lady).

CDC couldn’t properly apply a Band-Aid to an Ebola victim, f’em, f ’em all.

    • Contact your Congressmen and Senators and demand an accounting to see where the $ goes. Undoubtably it will get to Planned Parenthood and the successors of ACORN [MORE; New York Communities for Change; etc., etc.] and Industrial Areas Foundation

  6. 4 words to always keep in mind about how antis think and behave:

    “By any means necessary.”

This is long term war, they never give up.

    • Exactly! They need to concentrate on epidemiology of diseases. They need to leave the criminal stuff to the FBI/DOJ. What would the CDC think if the FBI started doing Malaria research.

  7. You could quite literally substitute the word(s) ‘anti-gun activist’ with ‘pharmaceutical companies’ and ‘gun control’ with ‘vaccine safety’ and have the same story. Funny how the resident trolls will accept with the above article(at least appear to) yet fight tooth and nail to claim this activity is in the publics best interest when it comes to medical/vaccine policy.

  8. $60 million? For gun research???

Here, lemme do ya a solid, as the kids say (well, maybe the kids from 1974.)

Head over to amazon.com, buy a copy of “More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun Control Laws, Third Edition”, by John R. Lott, Jr. $14.22, new in paperback. That’ll get you 95% of what you’ll need to know about guns and crime.

Put the rest of the money toward the debt, and maybe my grandkids won’t face 90% tax rates.

  9. I hope they understand that it is not scientifically sound to start with a conclusion, and then look for evidence to justify that conclusion

See, Soviet Socialism is truly scientific.

  11. I wish we could get a study done on Kennesaw, Ga and the effects of a law requiring all residents to own a gun has on gun violence. When will we(they) wake up and realize America doesn’t have a Gun Violence problem, we have a Violence problem. Bat, fists, knives, guns, it doesn’t matter because Violence is a solution for many.

Is it simply have vs have nots? Is it a genetic predisposition to violence, or a learned response? Both sides have ample statistics supporting their side, I just wish we could get a real discussion about the problem. Of course that would make too much sense for our gov’t.

  12. A well protected white man, senator Markey and a well protected white woman, senator Maloney both have armed government security for their private use. White southern senators also wanted to prevent people from having firearms in my parents time. The white southern state senators wrote many regulations to disarm a large part of the southern american population. This population was open to unlimited violent attack by organized groups and individual criminals. The democrats have not changed.
