Gun Control Org Sandy Hook Promise Wins an Emmy for Their ‘Back-to-School Essentials’ PSA

Back in 2019, we noted the trend of gun control organizations and even clothing companies using school shootings to push their pet causes and even make some money. Because what socially conscious kid doesn’t want a Columbine hoody?

Anti-gun org Sandy Hook promise produced the PSA above, which the Washington Post called “a punch in the gut” to promote their cause of limiting or eliminating civilian firearm ownership in America.

Last night, the august Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded Sandy Hook Promise, their advertising firm BBDO, and Smuggler Productions with the Outstanding Commercial Emmy for their effort.

In a press release Sandy Hook Promise said . . .

“We are honored and humbled that the Academy chose to recognize ‘Back-to-School Essentials’ for Outstanding Commercial. As a nonprofit organization, our mission is to end school shootings and prevent violence that harms children. The only way that can happen is if parents understand the real fears our kids have, and take action, including learning the warning signs of potential violence and speaking up,” said Nicole Hockley, co-founder and managing director of Sandy Hook Promise and mother of Dylan who was killed in the Sandy Hook tragedy. “We are grateful to our creative partners, BBDO New York and Smuggler Productions, for helping us develop innovative ways to reach as many people as possible with this life-saving message — and to our media partners for the donated airtime that brings the PSA into millions of homes nationwide.”

Interestingly, Sandy Hook Promise — an operation that says they’re dedicated to ending school shootings — hasn’t yet commented about the nationwide push to remove armed school resource officers from many of the nation’s schools since the Black Lives Matter riots and protests began (see here, here, here, and here.)

The very people who could best defend children and teachers in schools, if and when the worst happens, are being removed in communities across the country. You’d expect that would concern SHP enough for them to address the situation, but they’ve remained silent on the topic so far.

Maybe that will be the subject of Sandy Hook Promise’s next public service announcement.

No school shootings recently. That must be because of all the great work by Sandy Hook Promise.
No more pencils, no more books, no more teacher’s dirty looks
Out for summer, out till fall, we might not come back at all
    School’s out forever
    School’s out for summer
    School’s out with fever
    School’s out completely

    1. avatar Dan says:

You hit upon the perfect solution to school shootings. Ban schools.

Alice Cooper approved😃 Happy my granddaughter’s are homeschooled!

    3. avatar I Haz A Question says:

Our dear Los Angeles County Health Director Barbara Ferrer stated recently that our LAUSD school district (reportedly the largest in the nation) will remain closed until after the election.

Not “October”, or “when case numbers decrease by ‘X’ percentage”, or somesuch.

She actually used the words “after the election”.

Pardon the bad pun, but at this point the masks are off and everyone now knows what the Dems are doing. There is no middle ground.

  2. avatar NORDNEG says:

Good reason to NOT send your kid to Sandy Hook,,, or public school PERIOD…..!

  4. avatar MrMax says:

Awareness and knowing the warnings signs are fantastic for kids to be educated so they can identify potential threats in people and environments and respond appropriately. The wheels no longer hit the road when Sandy Hook promise mis-characterizes “safety” in the form of disarmament and violation of our Constitutional rights, brainwashing kids and adults alike into thinking “all gun are bad”. Maybe some have to learn the hard way: Guns aren’t bad, but a few outlier criminally-minded people do bad things with guns (and knives, and baseball bats, and cars…). And those people DON’T obey laws and don’t typically obtain their weapons legally.

  5. avatar Debbie W. says:

Well their Gun Free Zone Signs didn’t even get a mention…Certainly such a sign should receive something after luring gullible parents into leaving their children beneath a sign that held the door open for a deranged individual to use any weapon they want for a blood bath.
All of that aside, it’s the inanimate object that is guilty and all who own such objects are also guilty. guilty, guilty. It’s difficult to determine which is more deranged…Finger pointing Gun Control Zealots or the perp?

  6. avatar Chris T in KY says:

Home schooling is superior to any form of education. A small class size helps as well. Public Education is a government employment program. It has nothing to do with teaching kids. It’s for getting teachers and staff a job. And if they do a terrible job??? They can’t be fired. They have a government union that protects them. Thanks to President John F Kennedy. Using his Executive Order authority. He started the creation of government worker unions. Even the socialist Franklin Roosevelt was against government labor unions.

The Libertarians Liberals and the Left use the police unions as cover. They support ending police unions. They don’t call for the ending of ALL government labor unions. For example the FBI agents who tried to overthrow President Trump, are all part of a government labor union.
Have you seen any of them get fired yet??? Lose their federal pension???

    1. avatar drunkEODguy says:

you nailed it. Public sector shouldn’t have unions. I say this having been a public sector employee my entire adult life save a 5 year stint in the mil. Public sector unions are by and large simply blockades to shield trash employee’s from the termination of employment they deserve. Imagine a private company that had no incentive to be efficient, and no capability to trim away excess and bad staff, and you have the current state of 90% of the government machine.

      1. avatar Leigh says:

        INCLUDING…the military…right?

        1. avatar Chris T in KY says:

During the Iraq war. The democrat’s introduced a law allowing the military to have a labor union.
          It failed.

  7. avatar Jeff says:

Those people who do not want SRO’s in the schools hate all guns, even the ones carried by police officers. We have now learned that police are hunting black people every day in the streets and removing SRO’s will lead to a decrease in the carnage.

    1. avatar LarryinTX says:

Can we even comprehend what a terrible job police are doing of “hunting blacks in the streets everyday”, considering the superior numbers of trophies taken by the neighborhood “dindunuffin’ muffins” with nowhere near the support and training of the police?

  8. avatar John says:

School safety programs like Faster Saves Lives are much better than leaving your kids to fend off an attacker with pencils. Just like Moms Demand Action and Everytown for “Gun Safety”, there’s no safety promoted by Sandy Hook Promise. Gun organizations already have safety programs that these fake organizations don’t want to accept. It’s almost like all they care about is the appearance of safety so they can virtue signal. Enjoy your Emmy folks and look the other way.

    1. avatar Mark N. says:

How about a magic trick. Would you like to see a pencil disappear?

  9. avatar No more gun free zones will solve the problem! says:

Our rights allow us to shoot back! Got bullets?

  10. avatar J.Smith says:

James Fetzer lays out incontrovertible evidence in his book, “Nobody Died at Sandy Hook”, that the school was not operational for years prior to the “event”. Available online for free in pdf. Before you judge, read it. Im am not stating any conclusion, just read it. All of the players are millionaires now. Follow the money. Funny how the wind up toys that do these events abated since the left-illiberals aren’t pushing control now.

    1. avatar Mark N. says:

“Incontrovertible”? I really really doubt that. After seeing it so many times now, I am no longer shocked and surprised, but rather disgusted by the number of posts on various media appearing within hours of some tragedy that it was just a bunch of “crisis actors” and “fake news.” I call B.S. on that, and I really cannot understand why some idiots go to such lengths for a brief moment of internet fame. Real tragedies occur, and then are milked for political purposes, the latter of which is the only true “fake news.” I seem to recall that a well-known conspiracy theorist was successfully sued for slander for claiming that Sandy Hook never happened–and THAT is an incontrovertible fact. If HE couldn’t prove that it never happened–which he wold have had to do to avoid the slander suit–then it is probably true that it did.

      1. avatar John says:

Yeah its like give me one good reason why our government would orchestrate suck an act of evil for political gain?

    2. avatar Casey says:

I do not think that word means what you think it means.

      1. avatar John says:

Yeah I wish I could change that.

  11. avatar BOBO says:

We need laws to make “gun free zone” signs more useful!

Each sign should be 2ft by 4 ft and made of AR500 Armor plate, have good handles attached to its backing so as the sign can be used as a shield

Sot that said sign can actually do some good and not be a HUGE JOKE!

  12. avatar Gonnabashmyopinionanyway says:

Way too many school shootings happen. Kids having to experience that is unacceptable. I don’t know how to solve it, but we should be able to talk about it. I think the video is good.

    1. avatar Cooter E Lee says:

Way too many child drownings happen. Kids having to experience that is unacceptable. I don’t know how to solve it, but we should be able to talk about it. I think the video is bullshit.

    2. avatar Mister Fleas says:

Dying in a school shooting is like being struck by lightning; it is an extraordinary rare way to day.

The diets of the schoolchildren are far, far more likely to kill them.

  13. avatar Chris T in KY says:

The people at Sandy Hook Promise would prefer children be shot dead in their classroom. Instead of trained and armed teachers and staff shooting the child killer first.

  14. avatar possum says:

I threw a pipe bombnm in a school of fish, some learned to fly.

  15. We need to understand why children join gangs.
