You are right, it would not work. It’s not that inanimates have a death wish, it’s more that they just flat don’t give a crap.
Although I once had a chainsaw with a real bad attitude, that would go ahead and crank if you threatened it with recycling.
You have to watch those chainsaws. I was in an ER when a dude came in that had lost a fight with a chainsaw. It were ugly.

Sometimes the deaths are ‘natural’ in some manner (e.g. a medical issue such as heart attack). Most of the deaths are not reported until after the event ends because no one finds the body until after the event ends as the body is in their ‘camp site shelter’ (e.g. car, RV, tent, etc…) and not seen by the general public attending and no one missed the person as they came alone. When the general public clears out, and that ‘camp site shelter’ is still there usually someone goes to look and that’s when the body is found and because Burning Man was over when the body was found the media doesn’t report it (if they do report it) as associated with Burning Man.
