The British people rejoiced when noted criminologist and renowned firearms expert Piers Morgan left their shores for the new world. The good news: we here in the United States may be doing the same thing shortly. Following months of plummeting ratings and negative press, CNN may be about to kill Piers’s prime time talk show in favor of, well, just about anything else in the world, really. The show hasn’t been doing CNN any favors in terms of drawing viewers and the powers that be seem to be coming over to Jeremy Clarkson’s way of thinking . . .
From FTVLive.com:
Sources tell FTVLive that CNN Boss Jeff Zucker is “actively looking for a replacement for Piers Morgan.”
Morgan signed a one year extension to his contract and as time winds down, Zucker is looking for someone to takeover his time slot.
[…]
Word is that CNN could offer Morgan another role at the network, most likely something outside of prime time and likely in the late night hours.
Morgan, his agent and CNN have been working on his new role or his exit strategy from the network.
We probably haven’t seen the last of Morgan. But here’s hoping that if he does indeed lose this gig, too, he puts his money where his mouth is and jumps ship to another country. Again.
Kel-Tec P11. Wasn’t terrible, but the trigger sucked and it sometimes had a little trouble feeding. I got it because I like my P3AT, but I started to dislike the 9mm shortly after purchase and eventually sold it, buying a Glock 26 instead.
Even if firearm ownership were on the decline, why would it matter? It doesn’t matter if there’s only one guy living in a trailer in Idaho who owns guns; the right still exists and must be protected.
“Well, bye.”
Time to play “where in the world is Carmen Piers Morgan”?
Where will he go now? Zimbabwe? South Africa? Australia? I can’t imagine anywhere else would accept him.
And that is why Jeremy Clarkson should be knighted.
That’s why Jeremy Clarkson should be Prime Minister.
We need to start a campaign to get Clarkson knighted.

What is a Piers Morgan and why should anyone care?
Keep repeating it and maybe he will not only go away from CNN, he will go away completely.
You realize that given their population, Illinois still only has a (legal) gun ownership rate of about 12.5%, right?
Also, FOID’s should be referred to as FOAD’s since that is what the government is telling you by making you get a permit to exercise your rights.

[APPLAUSE]
As for a replacement – a camera on a cat. Doing anything for an hour. Ratings will immediately improve.
I have some other questions for Mr. Clarkson:
Did you only hit Piers Morgan once?
Did a booming voice from beyond the clouds shout “Good SHOT, my son!” after you hit Piers Morgan?
Do you have any advice for those of us who aspire to also one day hit Piers Morgan?
What’s it like being so f*cking rad?
My favorite author. Bar none.
Rockwell arms. For 850.00. That’s where I got mine.
It’s raining outside my window. Looks like a liberal tear storm.
That was the most satisfying Piers-themed video I’ve ever seen. Thanks!
Also, for whatever it’s worth, I used to be fairly indifferent about going to CNN for news, but Piers Morgan singlehandedly turned me off from visiting CNN for any reason. After Ted Nugent’s video with him at the range, I lost interest in even watching anyone debate him on guns. I lost a whole lot of respect for CNN, but I suppose if Piers leaves I may click through the occasional headline just in case it shows someone they’ve taken a step in the right direction.
Trouble is, whoever replaces Morgan will be less annoying and more effective at pushing the CNN agenda. Morgan has become to CNN what Bloomberg was to the Colorado recall vote. Poison.
Armored vehicle’s, sure that is a really great idea. Why doesn’t everyone drive one? Maybe just use my private jet instead of driving! Oh I forgot im not rich, now what should I do?
Yes, because clearly the solution is for the guy who probably stretched his credit to buy the Range Rover to spend twice as much on an armored vehicle, which will depreciate even more quickly and be 1000X harder to sell into the used market at a decent price.
I was hoping the punch line would be something like “and here’s a reasonably priced polymer window overlay you can install to slow down a thug with a tire iron who’s trying to break your window”. That would be quite a bit more reasonable than “buy a Bond car with questionably legal defensive measures”.
Or, y’know. Carry a gun and know how to draw and employ it effectively while belted into the driver’s seat. That would be good, too.
Point of order; doesn’t “pulling the trigger on . . .” imply that something is just starting up or some similar situation? I know you’re going for a firearms-related phrase. And while it might be someone’s wet dream to pull the “trigger” on Piers, wouldn’t “pulling the plug” be more appropriate in this context?
I’ve been watching this video over and over. Looks like they were harassing and threatening him, he had a family to protect. Faced with only that information I’d have run over whoever I needed to in order to escape the threat too.
Hard brake check at 25 sec started by the biker initiated the entire incident. Lien hit the biker and stopped as any law abiding citizen should do, he was then surrounded and they started thrashing his car, he felt threatened and took off, driving over the assailants. Hell, he did what he needed to do, no fux given except for the safety of his family. He didn’t go out looking to engage in a situation whereas these guys are specifically out to harass and escalate with brute force.
Question, where were our trusty police force? Where are the 911 calls, either by Lein or the bikers? That will surface in due time, but I think he did what he had to in order to preserve his family and it is plainly obvious that NYPD are useless. Although, they are really good at shooting innocent bystanders and victims, A+ on that end.
Yah, lemme get some armor for my 2006 Mazda 3…. And in CA, no way would I be able to utilize a firearm to protect myself, I would be incarcerated for the rest of my life. I recently had a very similar incident on the 805 N, group of bikers slowing us all down so they could do some wheelies. I don’t care, but don’t slow me down to 55 in the fast lane when I was going 80, especially brake checking me. Interesting to see how this all unfolds.
CZ-52 7.62X25 – absolutely the hardest recoil of any pistol that I’ve ever fired – and I shoot everything up to hot .44 mag loads. Lousy ergonomics, terrible sights, awkward slide lock and magazine release and a heavy trigger. The only reason I’ve kept it is that “they” say it will shoot through some ballistic vests with the hot Czech ammo.
Charter Arms Explorer pistol – this was the take down pistol version of the AR-7 rifle. It looked pretty cool but wouldn’t feed any ammunition with any magazine with any degree of reliability. I think that my record was four rounds without a failure to feed.
Stoeger Luger knock off. $75 at a gun show because again it looked cool. The only pistol I’ve ever owned where the cheap stamped internal parts actually broke under the powerful recoil of a .22 long rifle round.
“Thank God he didn’t have a gun or someone could have been killed. The law abiding People of the Gun look at this and say, “It’s a miracle someone wasn’t killed…if someone there had a gun, there might have been fewer victims.”
And both are right… but someone will always have a gun…
“radical idea—fund research on what actually works to end gun violence.”
The only thing I agree with
Here’s a simplistic idea guarantee me that no CRIMINALS will have guns. Then and only then will I think about giving up my rights. But there in lies the rub CRIMINALS don’t and wont obey the law.
Not a particularly good example. In fact it is so weak to be laughable. ‘Apples and oranges’ is the first thought I have. Cars and driving are so much better regulated than firearms – just think about it.
Drivers get training at a young age (usually Drivers Ed), then have to pass a test to get a licence. Then you have to operate your registered and road-worthy vehicle in a way that doesn’t break the rules and is considerate to other road users. If you drive in a dangerous manner you get a ticket, or worse. If you are an unlicensed driver or have an unregistered car you get into more trouble.
Most folks have to deal with all of this and most would agree that it is a workable system. Not perfect, but that’s what the DOT and the Highway Patrol are for.
Now…
Substitute ‘shooter’ for driver and ‘firearm’ for any reference to a car or vehicle.
I’m going to bet that most folks would have a fit and see this as an evil plot by gun grabbers and big government to send UN troops in black helicopters to confiscate your guns.
I think ‘Shooter’s Ed’ in high school might be a good idea. At the very least it will help reduce accidental deaths.
Probably the worst gun I had was back in the 1990s, a Smith & Wesson Sigma in 40. It would stovepipe every 12th or 13th round. I had a WW2 era Webley revolver that was a fantastic shooter, except for the fact that you could not hit anything beyond 2 or 3 yards.
Excellent article, and your points are well taken. When I was in the Army (late 80s to early 90s), our M-9s were pretty close to new and I loved mine. My only complaints: I didn’t like the safety / decocker location, and I thing the gun is too big overall for what you get in terms of firepower. But reliability was 100%.
That’s a lot of money, especially when you consider their 19 dollar range mag is made by Checkmate Industries (which makes 7round mags for Colt.. note the hybrid feed lip in their description and extra power mag spring). Those springs won’t wear out and the mags are utterly reliable (as per their user comments).
My 1994 Colt 7round mag and two 2006 Checkmate 7rounders stay loaded 24/7 and have yet to fail. The Checkmate mags are 16 bucks.
If I were to buy a Wilson mag it would be their 19 dollar mag. I know where those mags originate – and they are superb.
I’m sure the high end Wison mag is fine but their 19.00 mag will do the job just as well.
My worse 3:
#3. GSG 1911 – Jams, zinc frame/slide, pie plate accuracy at 5 paces, and fit/finish reminiscent of the surface of the moon covered in black finger paint.
#2. Army issued Ithaca 1911 – It rattled, was heavy, crudely made, had a smooth bore, and the slide stop and safety would engage randomly.
#1. Interarms PPK – Total jamomatic with bluing that washes off with a single drop of sweat.
After reading some of the other posts, I feel fortune to have never owned anything produced by the ring of fire manufactures.
One can see this displayed pretty clearly on The First 48
“And finally—radical idea—fund research on what actually works to end gun violence.”
So, what he is saying here is that every suggestion/recommendation he previously said before this statement means nothing and he has no clue if any of these changes would stop gun violence. So, why implement them? And finally -radical idea- use common sense and enforce the current laws and investigate/prosecute those who break them. After all, if the government can’t enforce the current laws what’s the use of more laws?
I suppose it wouldn’t be an infringement on Gopnik’s liberty to regulate the amount of ice cream he can consume. Maybe we’d have to make him take a course first. Then we can institute a 24-hour waiting period to prevent stress overeating, and maybe a strict limit of 2 quarts per month.
Now, I’m sure Mr. Gopnik would object that ice cream is nothing like firearms, and he’d be correct, but the example serves to illustrate that his proposed gun control measures are, without question, an infringement on people’s liberty. It’s just that he thinks they’re justified,
We had a recent incident in Marianna, Florida with some bikers trying to hassle a family in an SUV. The lost them but the bikers caught up to them at a gas station. The SUV left but the bikers pursued and shot into it nearly hitting a baby in an infant seat in the back seat. The father took one of the harley’s through a guard rail and that biker died after being life flighted to Tallahassee. Two other bikers were arrested for firing into an occupied vehicle etc.
This past memorial day I encounter a small group of Rolling Thunder just south of Atlanta on north bound I75. These were too young to be Vietnam Vets. Regardless, they were crowding my Jeep Wrangler and getting into my lane and aggressively harassing me. Fortunately I had a 10mm on me. I wonder if this was some of the same ones harassing Hickok45 and his son in D.C. that weekend.
Who would pick the fugitive up? MSLSD? PR man for Bloomer’s staff? El Jezeera?
Was it just me, or did he leave a round in the chamber for the second stretch of driving.
