BREAKING: Slidefire [Kinda] Photo Bombs Shannon Watts

Slide Fire Design Director Todd Kauranen and Moms Demand Action jefe Shannon Watts (courtesy Facebook)

You may recall TTAG’s Alan Brooks posed with the jefe of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America at the SXSW festival in Austin, whilst packing. We don’t know if Slide Fire Design Director Todd Kauranen was carrying in this shot taken a few blocks from the NRA meeting in Indianapolis, but we suspect so. Does it matter? Oh hell yes. We’ve got a call in. Meanwhile, here’s the 411 from Slidefire’s Facebook page . . .

Slide Fire Design Director Todd Kauranen made a special trip away from the 2014 NRA show to thank Mrs. Shannon Watts for doing great work. Her unsuccessful campaign to remove our “Pure American” billboard allowed us to reach thousands of potential customers that would have otherwise been unaware of our product. After posing for a picture Mr. Kauranen made sure to thank her for all the publicity she has given Slide Fire and the firearm industry. Ms. Watts had a considerable change in demeanor and stated that she is “out to shame us.” Mr. Kauranen replied by telling her that “whatever she’s doing, keep it up because it has been doing great.”

Groups that are committed to destroying our freedoms are vastly outnumbered by millions of Americans that are no longer willing to sit by idly. While we extend thanks to those who bring attention to our Second Amendment freedoms by trying to take them away, we are most thankful for those who have finally had enough and decided to voice their support of our freedoms!

Thanks again to all our supporters! — at Indiana War Memeorial Veterans Memorial Plaza.

Hell hath no fury like a panty-wetting liberal scorned.

      1. avatar Rich Grise says:

Oh, that goes way beyond scorn! I think that’s called “turning the tables.” I’m so proud of him! 🙂

        1. avatar LarryinTX says:

Where the hell was his GoPro? The video would be priceless.

  2. avatar Kory says:

She always attends NRA events because she knows they are safer than the streets of New York or Chicago.

  3. avatar Tom in Oregon says:

I’m snickering. No wait. I’m giggling.
    Nope, I’m belly laughing!

    Well done Mr. Kauranen!

    1. avatar DJ9 says:

I, too, am really enjoying this, every time it happens to her.

How long before she’ll want fingerprints and a background check (including a list of former employers) on anyone who asks to get photographed with her? Or will Bloomie just prohibit snapshots with his (apparently) easily manipulated “star” to prevent this from happening over and over again?

Tune in next week to find out!

  4. avatar Ross says:

    Priceless !

  5. avatar Patrick Sanders says:

Game, Set, Match to Slide Fire.

  6. avatar Zachary marrs says:

Shanon should just stay inside, too many potg wanting to make a fool of her

    1. avatar Jus Bill says:

Heh – it’s like taking candy from a baby.

  7. avatar Sergio says:

Shannon has gone from putting her foot in her mouth to just constantly sucking on it. (Don’t say it!)

    1. avatar Dirk Diggler says:

  8. avatar FTC says:

You mean to tell me that neither she nor her goons recognized the straps of Kauranen’s backpack as a clue he’s not one of them?

    1. avatar JasonM says:

      Or the Magpul iPhone case.

      1. avatar salty` says:

thats the only reason for me using an iCRACK is cause i can stick it in a magpul case…

        1. avatar Lolinski says:

Only reason I stick with Apple is because the phones and their parts are inexpensive.

Another good phone to check out would be Sony’s Xperia.

I stay away from HTC because the screens are not replaceable.

  9. avatar Dirk Diggler says:

Damn. I missed my chance! Don’t worry Shannon. We will have a chance to make a film! 🙂

    1. avatar Taylor TX says:

I didnt see the one below this comment that got moderated, I only assume it wasnt quite as slickly innuendous.

      1. avatar Dirk Diggler says:

In the words of Dave Chappelle – I plead the 5th.

      Whoo hoo!

    2. avatar Calvin says:

MODS: no idea what you deleted, probably deserved it, I just wish you were 1/10th as diligent on your Facebook page. The comments over there are beyond tasteless, more like vile and/or threatening. Someone should look into that. Kthnksby

  11. avatar Grumpy F'er says:

She needs a better vetting process.

“Wait…before I let you get a picture with me…have you now or every been a gun owner, currently packing heat, a supporter of the 2nd amendment, willing to openly debate anything, or not kowtow to me? If you answer YES to any of the above, then NO, you can’t get a picture with me. Sign here please.”

  12. avatar Mr. Pierogie says:

Failbook link doesn’t work. I guess she ran crying to Monopoly Money Mike ™ and he had to call his buddy Mark “Dumb f*cks” Zuckerberg (also ™) to take the site down.

    1. avatar Dev says:

It works fine for me and came right up on that photo. Sounds more like a browser issue on your end.

      1. avatar Matt in FL says:

But conspiracies are more fun than mundane browser issues.

        1. avatar Mr. Pierogie says:

This is what I see when I click on the FB link: “This content is currently unavailable.” Granted, I don’t have an account and I don’t really care, so…

Maybe it’s my browser, who knows. But I guess you really let me have it there buddy. Feel better?

        2. avatar Matt in FL says:

I was laughing when I wrote it, but not at you. Don’t be so sensitive.

        3. avatar Mr. Pierogie says:

Aw shucks, I can’t stay mad at you, hehe.

    2. avatar JasonM says:

Notice the “might not have permission” entry in the list of possible reasons. Much of Facebook’s content is for logged in members only.

      1. avatar Mr. Pierogie says:

I fail at Failbook, I know. I just don’t use it so I don’t know any better. I thought that even if you have some sort of high privacy setting, usually even a limited version of the front page would load up. I guess not always for somebody who’s viewing the page but does not have an account.

        1. avatar Dirk Diggler says:

you have to log in – I had the same problem

        2. avatar Mina says:

You have to log in and “like” the TTAG FB page. Sometimes the permissions on the photos can get wanky if you’re not in the “like” club.

  13. avatar Paul G. says:

I still think “Moms Demand Action” sounds like a cheap porn flick involving real housewives of Beverly Hills and their swimming pool maintenance boys.

    1. avatar mk10108 says:

Chuckling on that one. EXPLAINS EVERYTHING.
Moms Wanting Action but Not Getting It
      Moms Wanting Action in Everytown
Safe Action With Moms in Everytown.
Moms Getting Action With Other Moms in Everytown
Not Enough Action in Everytown So More Town Meetings with Action oriented Moms

      Someone stop me….PLEASE

    2. avatar Matt G says:

    3. avatar Mina says:

I’d be willing to bet there is a lot more truth to that than most on this board either realize or are willing to state.

    4. avatar Joe says:

I think, she might fit right with that action.

    5. avatar WayneMHK says:

As a middle aged man whose eyes still, on occasion, wander to the boob area, if the first thing I read is “Mom’s Demand Action”, gun control would be the last thing on my mind. They should seriously consider changing their name.

      1. avatar Rich Grise says:

It only makes sense. They’ve already got their built-in lower receiver…

        1. avatar neiowa says:

As TOm Bodett said – after the light are off …………….

Didn’t that chicks mother tell her to stand up straight?

  14. avatar Jeff the Griz says:

This is funny, but she will use this as fuel to point POTG as dishonest bullies.

    1. avatar JR says:

And fail again at that just as badly as when Alan got his picture with her.

With each day, her selling the POTG as rampaging murderous troglodytes is getting to be a harder and harder sale. Even her own followers HAVE to begin to question the sanity of what MDA et al are saying.

Funny AND culture war win….no two ways about it.

      1. avatar Jus Bill says:

Well, so far the Mighty Midget had to PAY people to hang out with her and the Goon Squad. Auspicious start. NOT!

  15. avatar JT Niggle says:

My Favorite is the little bit of his shirt showing through with part of the very same billboard she was fighting against, definitely expext level action,

    1. avatar DJ9 says:

      You have a sharp eye!

  16. avatar Gov. William J. Le Petomane says:

Step aside zombies, the latest fad in the firearms industry – getting your picture taken with Shannon Watts – preferably while concealed carrying (where legal, of course). The march for a million photo bombs!

  17. avatar PhoenixNFA says:

  18. avatar TheOtherDavid says:

For a former Monsanto mouthpiece to talk about “shame”——-take a good long look in the mirror, ma’am

    1. avatar Rokurota says:

Shame is only for those people who know they’ve done wrong. It doesn’t work on sociopaths and those on the right side of the law.

  19. avatar NYC2AZ says:

Cue the MDA Waaaaambulane on twitter/facebook.

  20. avatar Marty says:

This is immature and stupid. Keep wasting time with these childish antics (“Heh heh, she doesn’t even know he’s carrying!”) while the other side makes progress in the mainstream.

You’re acting like a bunch of damn goofs.

    1. avatar Hannibal says:

Oh get a sense of humor. I don’t think he spent days stalking her to snap that photo… it’s a goof, but a harmless one.

      1. avatar Marty says:

I don’t have a sense of humor about our rights.

        1. avatar John E> says:

          Aww lighten up, Marty.

    2. avatar JR says:

You seem to have no clue about what is going on here.

First of all, THEY are definitely NOT winning the battle for public opinion. Colorado recall as a reminder.

This war for our rights is currently being fought in “the new media,” and this kind of thing is EXACTLY how to fight and win it.

Shannon claims ALL gun owners are gunbullies. She wants the world to believe we are all murderers. Then people see pictures like this one and the one of Alan, and they see a major league disconnect. They see two people smiling and one of them is this so-called “evil gun owner,” and…

Are you ready for the punch line…

HE’S DOING NOTHING WRONG. Nothing. At. All. Nothing threatening. Nothing violent. He is not living up to the bigoted stereotype Shannon has tried to create.

They have been playing the vilification game for so long it will take time to regain ground, but this sort of thing *IS* working. And they claim to be the “social media” experts, and that totally, completely, unequivocally fail at it – nearly every day.

So, if you are not a turfer and you really do care about gun rights, open your eyes and see the social, cultural WIN happening before them.

      1. avatar Marty says:

Take some Midol. I posted a link to The Yankee Marshal called “Winning the Gun Rights War” in this thread a couple hours ago, so please stop thinking that you’re explaining anything to me.

Protip: Everyone with which you disagree is not astroturfing.

        1. avatar JR says:

For your information, I’m not calling you an astroturfer because you disagree with me.

I’m calling you that because you are a troll. Make no mistake about that.

        2. avatar Marty says:

      2. avatar Mina says:

Agree with you 110% JR. Precisely! (are you on Twitter? look me up @minasmith64)

        1. avatar JR says:

Hi Mina. I’m not on Twitter, but I HAVE found great entertainment in reading your responses to the MDA/MAIG crowd.

Keep fighting that good fight and with my appreciation. My part of the fight lies in another trench.

        2. avatar Mina says:

you got my curiosity up there, where are you hanging out?

        3. avatar JR says:

          In my head, mostly. {grin}

I’m more of a small, low key grassroots type…spreading the word where I can, providing links, general education related stuff, and in real life offline, engaging conversations and stuff like inviting people (anti’s included) to shoot.

Also, most importantly, raising my children in a gun rights home and talking with them a lot about the anti-gun movement(s) and why they exist – what their goals are and who they serve. Both my children love to shoot.

I have to leave the ‘social media’ angle for those that are good at it, for I would not be.

        4. avatar Mina says:

phew! I was worried I was missing out on some good new fresh meat I didn’t know about! 🙂

ps those are all good things, I hope we’re all expending effort there. I know I do, where I can but I don’t get out much (work from home, have a lot of hobbies here horses gardening, etc)

  21. avatar Tyler Kee says:

Mrs. Watts is going to suffer some debilitating back pain if she doesn’t roll those shoulders back a touch and work on her posture.

Also, professional level trolling by the Todd. I get how Alan was able to “bully” her. I truly do. I like Alan, but he’s a nobody. There’s no reason Mrs. Watts would know about him.

But she personally campaigned against this guy. Does she not know her enemy? Shouldn’t she be able to spot him from afar? It makes me wonder if Wayne LaPierre could waltz on up and get his photo. Or Ted Nugent?

    **adjusts tinfoil helmet**

Or maybe she knows damn well and good who Todd is, and also knows how the base was rallied by Alan “gun bullying” her. Perhaps, Mrs. Watts invites these sorts of things because she feels they make good media opps.

    1. avatar Mina says:

Shannon had no idea what the Slidefire guy looked like. They aren’t doing any extra work to know their enemy at all. That’s the kind of thing we do, and should do and (at least in my case) am doing.

Has everyone seen the video of Shannon refusing to speak to Dana Loesch at the Indy Rally on Saturday? Dana approached her, Shannon basically said “you’ve been really mean to me so I am not going to talk to you” and then actively ignored Dana’s repeated efforts to speak with her cordially, politely, human-to-human.

These people are scum. Progressive sub humans who have zero value.

      1. avatar Dirk Diggler says:

don’t forget that these are the same geniuses who labelled the Tsarnaev brothers as victims of gun violence on their little bus tour

        1. avatar Mina says:

There isn’t much I don’t know about Shannon R Watts at this point.

I spent a goodly amount of time trolling, taunting and humiliating her on Twitter daily.

        2. avatar Tom in Oregon says:

          Mina, you are a gem!

        3. avatar Gyufygy says:

You know, each time I’m reminded about the Tsarnaev debacle, I really just want to know who thought adding them in would be a good idea and WHY?!

        4. avatar Jus Bill says:

Up the Revolution, Mina! Keep (t)rolling (her).

        5. avatar DJ9 says:

Gyufygy, “thought” rarely enters into their minds. It’s all about emotion, making the list of so-called “victims” as long as possible, tugging at heartstrings of other equally-non-thinking people.

  22. avatar Jeff the Griz says:

Funny thing is if you Google Shannon Watts the first link is to TTAG, the second is HuffPost. I think Shannon gets more publicity from pro gun then she does from other sources.

Something about keeping friends close and enemies….out of Dirks reach.

    1. avatar Taylor TX says:

I have been thinking about this a lot lately also, but if the pro gun websites are the ones giving the coverage, could that be a positive because more folks are venturing onto sites like TTAG and hearing the message? Maybe these people couldnt be swayed anyway, who knows.

      1. avatar JR says:

It absolutely is a good thing.

Imagine someone emails a friend, “Hey, you heard of this group Moms Demand Action for GunSense in America?” Friend goes to Google for a quick background, and there you go.

What they see is information that completely discredits, or at the VERY least questions, the message MDA is trying to purvey.

The battle is being fought in the “New Media” and Watts claimed to be the expert operator in that arena. The reality is she is getting her social media clocked cleaned.

Eventually, even her own followers will see that, if they are not noticing already.

Does Alan or Todd look like bullies in these pictures? Disconnect. Do they look like child murderers? Disconnect. Do they look ANYTHING at all like the bigoted grabbers say WE ALL ARE? Disconnect.

The more hits TTAG gets for searches for the anti’s organization names, the stronger our side gets in the ‘social media space.’

        1. avatar Dirk Diggler says:

Shannon needs to call Charlie Sheen up and ask for his #tigerblood recipe.

    2. avatar JR says:

That is a HUGE win, and one I’ve been trying to get people to understand for quite some time. Everyone that says stop reporting on them does not understand the way Search Engine Optimization works and why it is important to master it in this way.

The point is this: Imagine some new Mom out there, and her friend emails her about “this group you have to check out…Moms Demand Action for GunSense in America.”

So, our hypothetical Mom heads to Google to find out about it. And what does she find?

TTAG’s stories showing the group to be the foolishness it is. A few such Moms may hold us in disdain for cracking jokes, but they ALSO see….

      –Small meeting turnout
–Nonsense twitter posts that sound like spoiled school girls whining at recess
–Factual refutation of everything MDA claims to know and an understand

Some fraction of those ‘potentially new to MDA Moms’ will see them for what they are. And we win.

For every single one that does NOT blindly follow them, we win.

  23. avatar sean says:

Did he at least get her number? She is kinda hot.

    1. avatar Bob4 says:

Eck! You know she’s a Bloomberg minion? 🙂

  24. avatar Mina says:

Tweeted it 😉 hope you don’t mind my grabbing the photo.

  25. avatar fuque says:

Is that a slidefire Tshirt under that button-up?

    1. avatar Mina says:

yep someone above just posted another shot that clearly shows that’s the same graphic! WIN.

      1. avatar JT Niggle says:

Yep, here it is again, cause I like it so much,

It would’ve been even funnier if he would have unbuttoned more when she turned for the picture, and you could really tell what was underneath.

  26. avatar The mayor of Candor says:

    Sorry, she looks like E.T.

    1. avatar Jus Bill says:

      Because she is one?

    2. avatar ropingdown says:

Yep. The truth is that her face is quite asymmetric, the right side being a bit wider than the left. Worse, without the news-woman lift-out of her hair (note the shadow world under the lift-out), she takes a bad video/photo because she has a small head in relation to her body. Imagine.

  27. avatar Hannibal says:

She’s going to have to pass common-sense regulation against cameras, soon.

Only reporters and her verified supporters will be able to have them within 100 feet of her.

  28. avatar AznMike says:

    Pwned Newbzor!

  29. avatar Maineuh says:

More important question: real or fake?

    1. avatar Dirk Diggler says:

bolt ons. just look at earlier pics of her. . . . Bloomy paid big

  30. avatar FoRealz? says:

  31. avatar Another Robert says:

@Maineuh: Shannon, you mean? Monsanto Mom? Definitely fake, to the core.

    1. avatar Maineuh says:

Oh, man. That’s like the perfect answer. How could Miss Monsanto have anything but synthetic boobs? I feel stupid for having even asked.

  32. avatar former water walker says:

Great! I live in Chicagoland & appreciate Slidefire. Sure got MDA’ s panties in a bunch.

    1. avatar Mina says:

me, too. Loved the ad!! super duper. I called Lamar advertising and thanked them for keeping their mind on business and ignoring the anti Moms.

  33. avatar Paul53, says:

There, just thought I’d save you some work, Robert.

  34. avatar Skt says:

    Hell yes.

  35. avatar Phil says:

She’s obviously pretty well known; near celebrity status. I wonder if she’s thought about getting a concealed carry license?

    1. avatar Dirk Diggler says:

how much you want to wager she already has one and carries a snubbie or a .380 ??

  36. avatar Dan says:

The original billboard must have been a pretty big hit since I saw another one this past weekend. Its along 294 right by O’Hare airport.

  37. avatar Matt in FL says:

I’ve turned off the troll switch on this post, and have cleaned/am cleaning up the off-topic BS. I apologize to any of you who get caught up in the swinging broom. It’s not personal.

    1. avatar Gyufygy says:

I don’t know why, and this’ll probably be (rightfully) deleted, too, but that makes this thing so much funnier!

    2. avatar JR says:

Well, my apologies for my role in it.

  38. avatar Jeff the Griz says:

The funniest thing is no matter what comment Matt in FL makes it will become troll food.

As I stated above the picture was funny but her side may attempt to use it. I wish we had a picture of how she looked when she found out who he is.

    1. avatar Gyufygy says:

      >:O I might have gotten the eyebrows a little off, but I imagine I got the essence of her reaction.

      1. avatar Tom in Oregon says:

I imagine that besides the cussing like a sailor back in the hotel room, there was a teary, sobbing phone call to sugar daddy.

        1. avatar Jus Bill says:

And a visit from the Goon Squad in the offing. BFG1 may try to sit on him.

    2. avatar JR says:

“As I stated above the picture was funny but her side may attempt to use it. “

Jeff, I understand what you are saying and what the concern is, but I do believe that if they did try to use it somehow, it would still be a big win for us.

Every time they try to “use” stuff like this it backfires on them, precisely because they simply do not understand that it undermines the most basic essence of their message. Their basic message is so easily undermined by ANY real evidence because it’s simply and ridiculously not true.

“Guns are bad in the hands of the rabble” is NOT supported by any evidence whatsoever. This kind of picture emphasizes that lack of evidence.

Let them use it; let them scream it all over the ‘Net. And that many more people will see them for the liars they are.

      1. avatar Rick says:

Every time they try to “use” stuff like this it backfires on them, precisely because they simply do not understand that it undermines the most basic essence of their message. Their basic message is so easily undermined by ANY real evidence because it’s simply and ridiculously not true.

You’d think a former(?) PR hack would know better than that.

  39. avatar Gyufygy says:

    I resemble that remark!

I live in my dad’s basement, thankyouverymuch.

  40. avatar Anonymous says:

This is a nice jugs photo for Ms. Watts. Yep Yep – Jugs. She’d look super hot holding an AR.

    1. avatar Paul G. says:

Maybe a slide-fire equipped AR. “Moms Demand Slide-Fire Action”?
      That has lots of innuendo.

  41. avatar TK says:

A MDA member was asked to snap the shot.

    1. avatar LarryinTX says:

      You’re kidding!

  42. avatar C says:

Something about a well fitting tshirt, man.

  43. avatar FoRealz? says:

There is one thing suburban moms crave more than anything else, attention. If from men, so much the better. Followed closely by a need to do “something”, anything that they feel will imbue their lives with “meaning.”

Remember boys, 25% of women in the US are on psychiatric medicine. Even higher among the demographic represented by the privileged classes such as Ms. Watts and crew. Understand who you’re potentially dealing with as a group.

Look it up for yourself, but here’s a start.

    1. avatar Mina says:

Keep talking and telling, dude. I have been trying to clue them into the red/blue awareness of the situation for a while. 🙂

  44. avatar Sbk510 says:

Man if she ever comes to Orlando Ima go shake her hand and get my pic taken with my heater on my belt under my shirt. Keep these up; they’re hilarious.

  45. avatar Aaron says:

    “Moms Demand Action”

Looking at the phrase pasted across Shannon’s chest I suddenly recognized the true meaning of the phrase and purpose for her group of mom’s activism: They are indeed looking for action but of the type that has nothing to do with guns well maybe they are attracted to something related to the shape of guns.

    1. avatar Mina says:

Dude I know you are Red Pill so this embarrasses me on your behalf.

Have you SEEN the photos of her husband? Please.

      1. avatar Aaron says:

My comment embarrasses you on my behalf? Good!

  46. avatar Rick says:

Pretty soon, she’s not going to pose with people without a background check and pat-down first.

  47. avatar Excedrine says:

Gahahaha! I’m in fuckin’ stitches over here! Turn-about really is fair play!

  48. avatar Doug says:

No but that hypocrite broad he standing next to has an armed guard or two not far away.

  49. avatar Aaron says:

Someone needs to produce a ppoorrnn flick spoof with a look alike Shannon similar to what has been done with Sara Palin.

Suggested name for the flick: “Shannon Demands Action”

  50. avatar Mina says:

There’s a real problem on Twitter under #FireSlideFire

    1. avatar JR says:

This is the problem with their message, though.

Getting your picture taken with some is bullying? Stalking? Harassing? “Creeping on?”

Dilution of the language like this should DEEPLY OFFEND real victims of stalking and harassment. Women like Nikki Goeser should have a voice in the discussion regarding how real stalkers act.

Those people disgust me…they are absolutely bereft of any ethics or integrity at all. To equate Todd posing for a picture…ASKING FIRST!…with “stalking” is beneath contempt.
