It sounds crazy, but it just might work! Seriously, WTF? I’m thinking this odd ad reflects the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence’s desperate need to overcome their media marginalization — what with anti-ballistic billionaire bully boy Michael Bloomberg doing the heavy lifting for civilian disarmament (pouring millions into “universal background checks” state referenda and pro-gun control pols).

That said, I’ve noticed that all of the anti-gun groups have faded into the proverbial woodwork in the run-up to the presidential election. I can’t remember the last time I read a story that quoted Shannon Watts, doyenne of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. Or a spokesfolk from Everytown for Gun Safety (both wholly-owned subsidiaries of Michael Bloomberg Anti-Gun Astro Turf Inc.).

This “yeah, too quiet” feel may have something to do with a lack of a suitably horrific mass shooting — the carrion upon which the anti-gun rights movement feeds. Meanwhile, once again, notice that “toddler gun death” is the anti-gun meme of the moment. I wonder when they’ll cycle back to domestic abuse. Or get to gang-bangers. As if . . .

  1. The Brady Bunch is the only anti-gun group that hasn’t blocked me on Twitter (open dialogue and all that). They’re already sprinkling domestic abuse in amongst the nonsense about toddlers.

  2. “I can’t remember the last time I read a story that quoted Shannon Watts, doyenne of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. Or a spokesfolk from Everytown for Gun Safety (both wholly-owned subsidiaries of Michael Bloomberg Anti-Gun Astro Turf Inc.).”

They seem to be hanging out in the Chicago suburbs in the ‘purple’ areas, and at the Illinois capitol trying to get some traction… we got concealed carry a couple of years ago and the anti’s are still trying to get even.

They aren’t getting much traction in either place, fortunately… but it requires vigilance and effort to fight back on our part, all the time.

  3. I must be dense; I don’t get it. This looks for all the world like sarcasm of the Brady Bunch. Yet, it seems that Brady produced it; is this true? Or, am I really sucked-in by the copyright?
Has Brady shot themselves in the foot the way Bloomberg did with his husband breaking into ex-wife’s home and shooting her?
Does this work? I.e., make up a web site that appears, on first impression, to be a gun-control advocacy. Attribute it to the Mom’s or EveryTown, or Gays-Against-Guns, whatever. Then, have the message convey the irony of gun-control.
I just looked at http://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/fv9311.pdf. The data show a disproportional drop in rates of black victims of crime relative to white victims from 1994 – 2011. What possible independent variables changed dramatically over this time? Gun sales? CCP issuance? Rate of black youths’ incarceration? Maybe gun sales and CCP issuance accounts for some of the drop in white victimization rates; but it’s a stretch to imagine they reduced black victimization rates. Did the rise in black youths’ incarceration account for the radically different decline in black/white victimization rates? What’s the lesson here? Is it: “Lock them up before they kill again!”?

    • So long as they are only shooting each other why in the world would we want to “lock them up before they kill again”? The proper approach to gangsters shooting gangsters would be to charge them with discharging a firearm within the city limits, slap their hand, and let them go with a fine.

If they screw up and hit someone not affiliated with a gang, or they use a gun to commit some other crime, THEN drop every known violence with a gun law on their head, no plea bargains.

  4. Lock up liberals and see crime plummet by 95% overnight. What’s their mantra? “If it saves one life, the end justifies the violation of civil rights”.

    • I’ve been saying for years that all the money spent by businesses on security guards and surveillance equipment is not to keep conservatives from stealing their stuff.

  5. “Lock Up Toddlers!”

If only my sister had done that to her mouthy, twerp kid. (And then forgot him.)

    But, nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

(If I had locked him up in *my* gun safe, he would have crapped on everything. The stench would have been horrendous. not to mention the leakage…)

    • (You might be getting the impression I don’t like that little bastard. You would be 1,000 percent correct…)

      • “little bastard-ness” is inversely proportional to discipline. if you mean what you say, then back it up 100%, problems often just disappear. BUT if little johnny has figured it out that 95% of the time your “NO” is firm and 5% not, they will mash all the buttons, roll all the dice and bring out all the tricks and invent a few new ones to get that 5% response.

Lousy parents create their own hell, let them rot in it. I do feel sorry for the child, I have seen first hand 2 adults who got everything they ever wanted or asked for as kids, they are miserable, rotten humans and have no friends, hate each other (siblings) and possibly the worst examples of humanity I have personally met.

        • The primary problem with this particular kid is that he was constantly told growing up just how *brilliant* he is.

          The problem is, he isn’t….

  6. I think Hillary could use this ad in her push for universal mandatory publicly-funded preschool.

  7. That is a good idea. Don’t let a toddler roam free and get run over by a automobile like some people allow with their dogs and cats. Don’t let them play with grandmothers’ Glock or her Oxycontin pain medication. Don’t let them run wild in a restaurant and get into the hot pizza or alcohol beverages.
