“The White House Office of Management and Budget was expected to approve the emergency rule change on Wednesday,” Yahoo! News reports, itching to throw down some major Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence indignation. “But an official with direct knowledge told Reuters that ‘ATF’s information collection request is still under review,’ and declined further comment until the ‘deliberative phase is concluded.'” In other words, the OMB may actually understand that the proposed long gun registry is patently illegal. Not to mention the fact that the NRA et al. are about to unleash a full magazine of whoop ass on the Obama admin and any gun control pols stupid enough to go there. Meanwhile, the aforementioned Brady Bunch are playing it cool . . .

“We have been very disappointed with the Obama administration for most of its first two years in office with regard to the gun issue,” said Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

“We’re hopeful that this is just some standard bureaucratic delay, we haven’t heard anything to the contrary,” he added.

Sure, bureaucratic delay. That’s all it is. Those Brady Boyz better hope so, ’cause the only way this regulation from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive (and Really Big Fires) is going through is if they can sneak it in as some sort of regulatory wrinkle—rather than a legislative mandate (if only because there isn’t one).

  1. A temporary respite, I sadly predict, but nice to see this ‘fast-track’ come off the rails.

And referring to the cover photo, Krinkov pistols suck.
