If you read this morning’s quote of the day – and the linked New York Times article – it seems evident that Colorado Senate President John Morse has an uphill climb in front of him. And he knows it. He’s furiously flailing, trying to fend off people in his Colorado Springs district who are just crazy enough to think that the Constitution actually means what it says. Go figure. And while the People of the Gun in Angela Giron’s Pueblo constituency may have a tougher row to hoe to unseat her, the anti-gun left appears to be going all in to avoid what would be a couple of embarrassing (and educational) losses. To wit: here’s an email blast from
Mr. Gabrielle Giffords Captain Mark Kelly designed to hoover up some cash to defend the two anti-gunners . . . [h/t Chip K.]
For decades, the gun lobby has threatened electoral revenge on public officials who advocate for meaningful solutions to reduce gun violence.
It’s how they scare candidates and elected officials from taking action on this issue. And until now, it’s been a successful strategy.
But we can stop that trend — right here, right now — in Colorado.
NRA-leadership and their allies are running recall campaigns against two Colorado State Senators, Democrats John Morse and Angela Giron, who helped pass expanded background checks and a high capacity magazine ban earlier this year.
This recall is extraordinarily important and Gabby and I plan to do whatever it takes to defeat it. Will you join us by making a $5 contribution to Americans for Responsible Solutions to get us started today?
This is exactly why we started this organization, and now we have a chance to prove how far we’ve come in just six months.
Election Day is September 10th, but voting begins on August 19th.
We need you now,
Americans for Responsible Solutions
Were it up to me those Colorado pols would be in court on treason indictments. They should be grateful the only consequence they face is being fired for workplace misconduct.
Agreed. Sadly, the best we can do is recall. And even that effort will be in jeopardy once the mighty, grassroots AFRS raises $45 in their defense:-)
Kelly is welcome to whatever opinion he wants to have, but as an officer on active duty in the Navy, I find using his rank every time he comes up offensive.
He retired in 2011. He had to to take on this new role. The Navy would have forced him had he tried to do what he does today while on active duty.
And since he’s retired, he’s no longer a Captain.
Not quite. He will retain his Commission until he turns 65. The “retired” pay is more properly called retainer pay. I am a retired Captain, USAF, and was subject to recall until I turned 65, two years ago. The title remains for life.
As a military officer I find that this turd never took his OATH OF OFFICE seriously.
“I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God.” (DA Form 71, 1 August 1959, for officers.)
What part of “defend the Constitution” does he not understand? Any individual who takes this oath as an American and pushes for laws against the Constitution should immediately be tried for treason. The Constitution is not up for change and amendments can only improve not take away from it’s intent.
There are a lot of officers who do not take their oath seriously. It is a formality they do to go through the motions. I know quite a few who do not believe in the constitution as written. I on the other hand studied my oath and also the constitution. In my second command I had a pocket constitution.
Kind of like this oath:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
I guess the good Captain feels if the example set forth by the Comander in Chief is you can wipe your ass with the Constitution, then why should he (the Captain) be held to a higher standard?
I understand this does not justify his actions, nor do I support the actions of either individual having upheld the oaths I’ve taken. I’m just pointing out the way people like that think.
My issue is less with that he was in the military and more that any time he comes up, there is an emphasis on his rank…
Maybe I just need to grow my skin a bit thicker (although I AM a submariner, so my dermis is not thin to begin with) but the stink of his politics gets attached to the Service when CAPTAIN Mark Kelly is the refrain…
How about MR. Mark Kelly (or Mr. Giffords… whatever.) His commission or lack thereof is irrelevant to his politics. As it should be…
Isn’t he a little old to be an O3? Or is he Navy, where CAPT is an O6?
@ PeteZ he was a navy Captain, so an O6…a pretty accomplished naval aviator and astronaut as well. IIRC he had a DFC a bunch of other notable decorations. I too have trouble reconciling his current douchy-ness with his very commendable career. Perhaps having your wife shot in the head changes a persons perspective. I don’t see any problem with him using his rank in communications, but he should indicate that he is retired. i.e “Mark Kelly CAPT, USN (Ret)”
Kelly’s ventriloquist act is getting more than a little tired…and tiresome.
His hand has to be killing him too, from moving the lips of his favorite puppet, Gabby the Bloody Congresswoman. Complete with bloody headwound and bandage.
I just remembered they were jet setting around on their faux tour in a plane that belongs to the owner of The Colorado Rockies. Interesting.
Scaring them? Well if that’s what it takes to get them to follow the constitution, then so be it.
Scaring them because they can’t do exactly as they want, they must follow the wishes of the people who elected them. Like all those cranky “Gun Lobby” NRA members…
Aren’t these the same people who rant and rave when out of state money is solicited for votes or measures they are against?
Oh, I forget, Hypocrisy is OK if your a left wing whack.
Gotta love it when the “evil outside money to influence” crowd starts asking for their own evil outside money to influence. It’s unfair and wrong when the NRA does it but it’s righteous and holy when Bloomberg does.
And Bloomberg-MAIG money dwarfs that of the NRA, plus the grabbers receive free never ending support propaganda from the national MSM, and both blatant and subliminal anti gun messages in entertainment and “documentary” programming.
“The NRA leadership and their allies”. Kelly is so full of sh1t!
The recalls are truly grass roots efforts planned and executed by local voting residents, NOT the NRA. Especially in the case of Angela Giron.
That’s what I heard about the recalls. They were started locally and the NRA name wasn’t attached to any of the ones I heard about. (I heard of two that I can remember.)
I live in Morse’s District. I can’t go anywhere without hearing people talk about this, and perhaps it’s simply a symptom of the circles I tend to run in, but everyone I talk to think he’s going to go down HARD. The only problem is the RINO mouthpiece who is running against him.
Colorado will live or die in the next election.
I hear you. Even up in the north side of the Springs people really want to see Morse go down badly. Do completely agree with you on the next election though, it’s time for a counterpunch or things will get worse.
Not going to happen. The traitors will find a way to pull out wins for both of these people. I sincerely hope that I am wrong.
Morse is as good as gone, he REALLY must have an ego thinking he could get away with it in Colorado Springs, his fellow Demokrats here have basically left him out to dry. As for Gijon, I give it 50/50.
I think it is sad that any veteran would seek civilian disarmament of their own country. For any number of speculative reasons, the Navy appears to have a much higher representation within the civilian disarmament movement than any other service branch.
Makes me sad… 🙁
Yes, his astronut status has more to do with his insanity than his career in the Navy. Remember the astronut lady who wore a diaper to drive across the country right quick and kidnap her love rival? There’s something in the recycled air up there.
My father served in the Navy in Vietnam and was vehemently pro-gun, but he also criticized the Navy extensively. Specifically glory boys like John Kerry and the racist officers he served under.
It’s the separation of sea duty. And maybe the crazy rays from all the radars.
Think of him as a space cadet.
So, let me get this straight? Giron and Morse vote against the majority of their constituents and because the will of the people AND the constitution go against ol’ gepeto Kelly, now its a scare tactic? Why couldn’t he have commanded the Challenger
Because then he’d be a hero.
The anti’s are just upset that we’re better at democracy than they are. Democracy isn’t anything if you can’t back it up.
oh, they’re plenty good at “Democracy”, which is nothing more than mob rule. Good thing we live in a Constitutionally-Limited Republic instead.
I wish more people understood this subtle and monumentally important detail.
I do also. My high-school civics (we called it back then) drilled it into my head so hard and so many times that it’s good for a lifetime. The man is still alive!
Unfortunately the two systems really aren’t as different as you think.
They are WAY more different than you seem to have the wherewithal to recognize.
Not much point in having written constitution then
Soooo sending these fruits money helps how?
Oh yeah, to line the pockets of those whombfind themselves corruptable and to blanket the airwaves with lies and half-truths.
These people ignored their constituents & their oathes to the Constitution.
NRA is just a scapegoat here.
The people are the true victims of this legislation and are the ones behind righting the wrong so as to send a very clear message; “Honir you Oathes by serving US or GTFO!”
This is why instead of donating to any one candidate all of my money has been going to the NRA. They’re the only ones with the guts to stand up to these left wingers and not back down.
Don’t forget GOA, SAF, and Cal guns.
I agree with the GOA as well. I would also like to add that most states have an affiliate NRA organization that is very active at the state level. In addition, many states have a concealed carry group.
“Will you join us by making a $5 contribution to Americans for Responsible Solutions to get us started? This is exactly why we started this organization”
There. I cut the fluff out and helped him get to the point.
Was the NRA involved in either recall petition? I thought it was more a grass-roots effort. Well, if the NRA wasn’t involved before, they should be now.
There is an all out smear going on against the NRA on several fronts. This is the real reason Gabby and her punk husband started their faux PAC. They are trying to get a portion of Gun owners tricked into thinking they are pro gun. It is a trick to incrementally get where they want to be. Gabby and Mark clearly think only elitists and Gov. should have guns in this country.
Makes sense. Mark Kelly is clearly a weasel. I sincerely hope Gabby has enough intellect left to consciously be a weasel (truly sad what happened to her, regardless of her politics).
I’ve posted on some lefty blogs to correct the rhetoric that the NRA is funded mostly by the firearms industry, but all the posts were either deleted didn’t make it through moderation. Happens to all of us I gather. Well, when evil people go out of their way to silence us, it just reminds us that we are playing for the right team.
I feel terrible for Gabby because her rat “husband” is using her ruthlessly and mercilessly and she can’t even cry out for help.
I think Mark is much of a pawn as Gabby is. In this case, Gabby is Mark’s pawn, and Mark is MACOG’s (MAIG’s real name: Mayors Against Citizens Owning Guns) pawn. I dunno if he was an anti before her unfortunate incident or not, but he sure was poisoned after… my guess is he had MAIG sympathizers talking to him that the idiot behind the gun would have been 100% impotent if there were no guns to be had by citizens.
This in no way excuses Mark from his douchery, nor does it imply Gabby was not a victim OR deserved her attack.
Gabby turned down a security detail. There were people killed in the assassination attempt.
Deluded. Its not the “Gun Lobby” pushing the recall – this is plain and simple grass-roots backlash.
Don’t’cha just love how when it something they oppose, the gun lobby is behind it, but when its something they are for, its the will of the people? I’m sick of their antics.
I find it really odd the Mark, Gabby Gabber, and Bloomer seem upset that the thought someone out of Colorado is supporting the citizens. Yet their PACs and faux movement have been meddling in multiple states with “paid” demonstrators.
I got an email from Gabby’s PAC complaining about the NRA getting the recall. I emailed them back and reminded them that it was the People of Colorado voting in the election. I also suggested they turn in all of their guns and ccw licenses to their sheriff so they wouldn’t have to be hypocrites while promoting their gun ban agenda and pretending to be gun friendly.
I try to keep up with MAIG and Gabby’s faux PAC.
Bloomberg lost again on his sugary drinks ban…the appeals court tossed it this time….I hope the voters of those districts in Colorado toss these two idiots and that strikes a chord of fear across the nation to the 217 Congressional Traitors that voted with the NSA ..and that they get tossed on their asses as well…then we need to move as a mob on to the NSA/CIA and get them de-funded as well….then start investigating all of them on treason charges…get some convictions of the CIA/NSA/DIA/Pentagon folks….NCIS, etc….Impeach Congress…The President and VP…convict them all of treason and start hanging them…. now!
Webster Groves – The Life of an Insane Family
Pretty obvious this is just a fund raiser for a named but not set up pseudo fund. Money comes in but does not go out other that to pay the bills of the Gifford’s couple.
Interesting thing is Gabby is shooting off hand with her strong side in the cast that was needed to allow it to heal.
What also really annoys me about this:
– Gabby is getting free lifetime medical care and disability pay $$ on the taxpayer
– The Space Cadet is getting retirement $$ as an O-6 and benefits on the taxpayer
– He’s sending out a plea in her name to get more $$ from sympathetic/foolish taxpayers
He’s completely devoid of morals.
Dear Mr. Kelly,
Forget you, forget your service and forget the horse you rode in on.
Well… Perhaps if they pull out all the “stops”, the MAIG bus will crash? i mean, its only a matter of time before these fools will get cast aside, in favor of the next victim-of-the-month.
This B.S. inspired me to donate to the people responsible for getting morse out of Colorado
thank you for this link. I just donated. for the price of a box of ammo, it is well worth it
Thank you. I was scrolling down the comments section wishing for this. $20 on it’s way to Colorado now. (It was $10 but the comments section had an error, lucky Coloradians 😉
still waiting on the gun grabbers to offer up “reasonable solutions”…. tick, tick, tick….
I wonder if it would cost them more to process .01 donations on their credit card transactions?
Would it not be too
funnyironic to cause them a huge loss this way?
Nope, did not work.
These are the kind of people that support this charlatan:
It’s incredible how these people can seriously call the NRA, a gun lobby.
Where defending the 2nd A is compared to being just another paid lobby.
In reality, it is they, who represent the purely political, paid for lobby.
Aren’t they really the infringement lobby? The anti-Constitution lobby?
The Leftist celebrity meat-puppet lobby would be far more accurate.
The NRA is the nations OLDEST Civil rights organization.
The Infringement Lobby has a rather nice ring to it…
Is he going to use the money donated to buy himself a shiny new 1911 and a pretty black rifle?
I bet everyone in Gabriel Gifford’s neighborhood hates her.
Dunno. They may be sympathetic to her and loathe him.
In the first paragraph of his response he says meaningful solutions. Sure, the proposed solutions might be meaningful in the sense that they are aimed at doing good and their hearts are in the right place and all that. But they won’t work and will only disarm those who care about the laws.
“Captain” Mark Kelly is a turd in the punch bowl…and a disgrace to every other man and woman who has ever sworn to protect, uphold, and defend the constitution of this nation.
