A New Word for Gun Control Advocates’ Deceitful Incrementalism: “Schakowsky”

Back when I edited videotape for CNN, producers would demand that an editor finish a news “package” by a certain time. In many cases it was impossible. We had an app for that: smile, salute and say KBISFB! We never told the producers it meant Keep Believing It, Shit for Brains. And now I’d like to propose another neologism: Schakowsky. Whenever a proponent of civilian disarmament says “I support the Second Amendment but . . .”, whenever a gun grabber tries to convince the public that they support “reasonable gun control,” just say Schakowsky. Well, and the rest. Yes?

  2. Good ol’ Jan. The ever reliable Machine Statist from the 9th District. Make no mistake, she means what she says. She knows this is a game of small steps. A little here and a little there. It may take 20-30 years, but it’s worth it to a Statist. Throw in the occasional tragedy and maybe you can shave off a few years from the timeline.

Side note: her district is now made up of some of the more well off Chicago suburbs and she still won 66% of the 2012 vote against a fill-in, no name Republican. Given the state of the local GOP here, expect Statist Jan to be around for awhile.

  3. “Neither law actually fixes the problem….”

Hell, when was the last time a politician really understood what the problem was? In the health care debate they insisted that the problem was too many people didn’t have health insurance when the real problem was that health care is so expensive that no one could afford it without insurance.

  4. Share this with all of your hunting friends. Someone also needs to share this with the NRA and they need to make a commercial out of it. This could be a turning moment for us.

Does someone here have a good NRA connection to contact?

  5. Hello, I am new to this blog, also a new gun licensee in NYC, and a born lifelong [66] years resident of this city.
I recently bought a new Mossberg 500 12 gauge shotgun, and have applied for a handgun permit also, however what has become of Article 2, section 4 of New York civil rights law, where it explicitly states:
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms CANNOT be infringed, seems to me this is a clear statement that it is even more strigent then the US 2nd amendent.

  6. Also never agree to a search of your car even if you have nothing to hide. Once you do that they don’t have to get a warrant. Make them work for it. By all means learn you rights. You may need them soon.
I watched this video about a year ago and it changed the way I will interact with the police the next time we have to meet. I haven’t had to think about this stuff since I was a teenager. But my old age has taught me to be prepared for the unexpected. I guess that’s what being a gun owner is about, being prepared for the unexpected.

Your using the 1st amendment here. Your using the 2nd amendment where you are. But are you ready to use the 4th? Because if not you may have to use the 5th or worst yet the 6th and/or 8th.

  7. The pot legalization thing was a put-it-to-the-voters thing.
NOT a “vote democrat to legalize” thing.
So I voted YES on legalization, and voted for Libertarian candidates for CO senators & representatives.
If the repubs could produce a candidate who did NOT think it was his business what occurs in private between consenting adults, I’d consider voting for that person.
If the dems could produce a candidate who did NOT think it was his business to control all aspects of my life, I’d consider voting for that person.
As it is, I vote AGAINST every incumbent, in favor of Libertarian candidates.
How that makes me a gun-grabber or a libtard escapes me. Nor do I see how that means I value my 2A-guaranteed rights less than gay marriage or legal drugs.
