Imagine my disappointment.
This is probably two or even three times higher than I would consider paying, and no one could come up with an excuse that would have me saying, “well, okay, then, I guess that’s fair.”

The way they pivot, wouldn’t they not be aligned with the bore axis if they were to one side? wouldn’t that screw up aiming to some degree?
Maybe that’s why they’re $300, to pay the engineer who figgered all that out. Also, I’m guessing that there’s a lot more that goes into the manufacture and assembly of these than your standard MBUIS, hence some of the added cost. Still, 3 bills is a little steep. Cool product though, I wish them well.
You’re probably right. I would think (I’m not sooper intelligent so cut me some slack) that these would have to arc around the barrel in order to maintain the same alignment, as opposed to pivoting in their mounts. But who knows, maybe they’ve figured it out.
Sounds like you’re misunderstanding it. The front AND rear sights cant 45 degrees. Ideal setup for a 3-gunner or someone else with a scope who needs a rapid transition to more appropriate close range sight, just cant the gun a bit and presto. I REALLY want these since I run a scope on my AR, but not at no $300. It’d be cheaper to even buy them overpriced SureFire sights or even buy a canted rail mount and put my Magpul MBUIS on that.
It just appeared to me that the height-over-bore would change as you pivoted the sights, which, if I’m not mistaken, affects the zero. How much it affects it, if at all, I won’t even hazard to guess. (I’m probably explaining what I’m seeing in my head extremely badly, I hope I’m approaching a coherent explanation)
I see where LB is going, and he is correct. Your alignment will be off by an inch or two. Making precise hits with this will be more difficult than a standard 45 degree offset sight setup. For fast, sloppy shots, this will work fine. If you want to put them on target with the first shot (precision hit) you will have to train out the horizontal offset.
It’s definitely pricy, but if the quality is good, I’ll pay the $300. I’m right handed, but extremely left eye dominant, so I generally shoot lefty. I still shoot right handed as well, so most offset sights leave me effectively “blind” on one side.
$300 is steep, but when compared to the thousands many of us spend on gear, it’s a drop in the bucket. If these things work as advertised, I’ll buy two sets.
The strangest thing about this product is that it’s made by a manufacturer of bomb disposal robots. Talk about diversifying.

Can you not just mount them “backward”? I just bought a cheap pair from China – there’s no reason I couldn’t put them on “lefty”. Or simply get an offset rail, and put that on left-wise and use standard BUIS.
This is a product looking for a niche, methinks. And at $300, it’s going to fail badly at it, I think. Wait a year, we’ll see others like this for under $100. This isn’t high-tech. Depends on if they own a patent on “detent selection of target acquisition systems”. *shrug*
What;s the point exactly? So you can have your front sight accidently knocked off by 45 degrees such that you miss the bad guy? Taliban fund raising has gotten sophisticated.
45 degree offset sights are used by some 3-gun shooters, Dave. Cant your gun 45 degrees and you have useable iron sights without messing with cowitness, etc.
The offset sights seem like a good idea to me. The guys that buy quality sights seem to like them.
The cheap ones you see on amazon are junk that won’t hold zero (if you can get them to zero to begin with).
That’s a good point. Hopefully, they have a good detent to keep that from happening.

I would prefer hardened steel for that price. (The difference in weight on something that size is negligible.) But in any case, it’s a novel idea. A set of offset sights that stores and can act as normal BUIS… The ability to go left or right, to me would be just a bonus. When you remember that the Magpul metal BUIS is in the ~ $200 territory…
Looks way too easy to bump over. The price isn’t anywhere near acceptable. No thanks.
