Antis Would Rather Foster Children Be Neglected or Killed than Live in Home with Guns

“Gun-owning foster parents to fight DFS removal of kids,” KSNV News3LV, Las Vegas, reported. Awakened by the screaming of angry neighbors on their property, Kristi Beber called the police as her husband Rod retrieved his gun – just in case the police did not arrive in time and they needed to protect themselves and the children they care for . . .

DISCLOSE Act Goes Down In Flames. For Now.

You gotta love the Progressives. They never give up. Today, the DISCLOSE Act failed to pass. The Democracy is Strengthened by Casting Light on Spending in Elections Act would effectively muzzle most political action groups, advocacy organizations, and issue groups (except for the NRA, the Unions, and the AARP, all of which were exempted from the law). The procedural vote on the  was 57-41, falling three votes shy of the 60 needed to head off a Republican filibuster, as reported by NBC. The GOP voted as one against the bill, and because Joe Libermann (I-Connecticut) was absent for a funeral, the bill failed. One prominent Dem voted “nay”: Senator Harry Reid. Huh?

Is the NRA Relevant?

My recent stories for TTAG about the National Rifle Association’s PR problems have hit something of a nerve. More specifically, members are up in arms about the NRA’s flirtation with Democratic House leader Harry Reid (links here and here). The palaver over the NRA’s “carve out” on the campaign finance DISCLOSE Act has also done little to please the [formerly] NRA faithful. We’re getting a lot of feedback indicating that NRA members’ backs are getting heavy with straw. Is this a sign of big troubles ahead, or just a couple of “flyers” that are entirely besides the point? First, a few bullet points worth considering . . .

Reid’s NRA Endorsement Imminent?

Full disclosure: I’m a Life Member of the NRA. Full(er) disclosure: that could change, if the NRA keeps doing incredibly stupid things. Case in point, the idea that they might well endorse Harry Reid’s re-election campaign for the U.S. Senate in Nevada. Yep. That’s right. On the heels of their bailing on opposition to a bill that would effectively muzzle political dissent (except for Unions, AARP, and the NRA) simply because “it doesn’t affect them,” now comes word that Really Soon Now, the NRA plans to endorse Harry the Horse’s Ass for another term in the U.S. Senate, and presumably as Senate Majority Leader (unless the GOP retakes the Senate in November).

Pause with me for a nanosecond whilst we consider how screwed up this really is.

NRA + Harry Reid = Love Connection?

Say it isn’t so. Please. According to the New Orleans-based examiner.com, the National Rifle Association has endorsed the re-election campaign of U.S. Senate majority leader Harry Reid. Excuse me; I have to run to the restroom for a little Technicolor® yawn. Seriously, has the NRA taken leave of their ever-lovin’ minds? Apparently. And as one of their newest Life Members, I am seriously ticked off about this. Here’s the 411 on this surreal moment, straight out of a Rod Serling nightmare . . .

Sarah Palin Reloaded. Again. Still.

You could say that ex-Alaska governor and current Republican agent provocateur is becoming increasingly bitter and twisted. Or you could say she’s developing a penchant for nasty-ass sarcasm. Either way, Palin is pushing back against allegations that her “RELOAD” Tweet and Facebook gun imagery were over-the-top. OK, inciting violence. Today’s Facebook entry tries to “make … Read more
