From MidwayUSA . . .
The Board of Directors of MidwayUSA announced the promotion of Matt Fleming to CEO/President effective immediately. Matt joined MidwayUSA in 2001 as a Sales and Marketing Manager and was promoted to Vice President of Sales and Marketing in 2004. Matt was promoted again in 2009 to President. Since taking the reins as President, MidwayUSA has enjoyed tremendous growth, increasing Customers by more than 300% while also increasing Customer Satisfaction from 91% to 94%. Additionally, under his tenure as President, MidwayUSA received two consecutive Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Awards.
MidwayUSA Founder, former CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Larry Potterfield relinquished his role as CEO, but will continue to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and will work closely with Matt throughout his transition. “Matt Fleming has been an integral part of the growth of MidwayUSA over the past 20 years. His exceptional leadership qualities, attention to detail and focus on serving Customers make him the perfect choice to lead MidwayUSA into the future,” said Mr. Potterfield.
Although Fleming becomes the first non-family CEO in the Company’s history, MidwayUSA will continue to operate as a family owned business. “Growing up as a shooter, hunter and outdoorsman, I dreamed of having a career in the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor industry. 20 years ago, that dream came true when my now friend and mentor Larry Potterfield gave me an opportunity to work at MidwayUSA. I can’t imagine another place where my personal values better align with the values of the Company,” said Matt Fleming. “The Potterfields are amazing people who put Customers first, treat Employees like family, value strong Supplier relationships and generously give back to our industry. I’m honored and humbled to lead our incredible high-performing Employees and will do everything in my power to extend the wonderful legacy the Potterfields have established.”
Both country kids from Missouri, Larry and Brenda Potterfield turned their passion for shooting sports into a career by opening a small gun shop in 1977 that would eventually become MidwayUSA (www.midwayusa.com). They instilled family values like honesty, integrity and respect for others into the business, and strive to maintain this culture with each Employee added to their growing team. For 43 years, MidwayUSA has maintained an unyielding focus on Customer Satisfaction and continues to offer JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING® for Shooting, Hunting and the Outdoors.
If the NRA could ever mange to rid itself of Wayne, Larry Potterfield would be the man for the top job.
If Larry Potterfield replaced Wayne, I would join the NRA in a heartbeat.
Excellent suggestion! I’d be pleased as punch.
I would too.
Potterfield endorsed Wayne after he was caught. No chance in hell that would be good.
Everything except bullets. Out of stock, out of stock , out of stock. Wait list
Oh I do see they’ve got some available. Guess I was wrong.
It’s been a good company for a long time. I wish them luck in the future as well.
CONGRADULATIONS , BEST OF LUCK
“And that’s the way it is.”
I’ve sent a lot of money their way. I’ve also always been happy with what I receive. Larry Potterfield does some good gunsmithing videos on some interesting rifles. I don’t think they do that many now, but years ago they were fun to watch.
I wish Larry Potterfield was my long lost grandpa, twice removed, so i could visit and play with all his toys. I spend allot with Midway, i just choose to not do the NotRealActivist roundup.
MIdway has been my go to for just about everything for shooting and survival and outdoor gear for years. Great customer service, fast shipping, reasonable prices often beating others for the same item. Wishing them the best in the future.
Been watching Larry’s smiling youtube videos for a while.
I’m from that area and used to stop in and buy stuff from Larry shortly after he opened in that small metal building off of Hwy. 240 in Midway. Great products run by great people. With their expansion to their current facility, they have been a big boost to that area’s economy. Larry, like Johnny Morris of Bass Pro Shops, gives back to his community and the outdoor world thru many donations and projects funded by his generosity.
I think he is probably a good guy but for this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uuMJ9grq-0
